Had a craving for some classic Cuban food so we took a trip to Sergio's in London Square. I'd say this location has fallen from grace a bit. The food was for the most part solid as usual, aside from two negatives.... 1. Garlic bread they give wasn't quite up to par. 2. Our croqueta platter came out cold. As for service.....upon walking in there was 3 hostesses at the front but all 3 were too preoccupied speaking to another patron that they appeared to know personally rather than one step aside to take the next customer. The one that eventually helped us was a ball of joy and smiles for that other patron but literally the second she switched to us she had a face on that looked like we just gave her bad news. Then she tried to sit us at a table that we clearly wouldn't be able to sit in because another elderly patrons walker was blocking one of the 4 seats from being sat in (we were a party of four). We had to ask to move to a different table, once we did that things seemed to be fine. We ordered our food and asked specifically if they still do the free garlic bread basket to start, to which she replied yes. Subsequently the food arrived and the bread did not, we had to then ask for it and it was brought and some pieces not buttered at all and just jumbled and compressed together. Fast forward we are eating and my water cup has been empty since basically the time the food arrived, now our waitress is nowhere to be found for at least 10 maybe 15 minutes. Finally we ask someone else for the water and they seek her out to have her do it. Last comment on the service is the awkward "watching while tipping" moment. They use the mobile credit card machines here and the waitress awkwardly stood over me watching as I entered the tip amount. As far as atmosphere, the floor throughout the establishment and even outside on the walkway leading up to the restaurant is EXTREMELY slippery, which is not only dangerous but a little gross. The lighting is weird, they could benefit from some shades on windows. The men's bathroom wasn't too clean and it seems I broke up an unofficial employee break where 3 employees were just hanging out in this very small restroom. Also one of the hand dryers was broken and ironically above the other hand dryer they had a paper towel dispenser but it was at least 6 ft up on the ground, luckily I'm 6 ft tall but for example my son wouldn't have been able to get it on his own. All in all, food was still worthy but with the prices of eating out these days, I expect the whole package to be on point. This being said, I likely won't be back for a while. read more

We ordered takeout online and picked it up in person. When we arrived, it took a while to find the right server to bring out our order, which was a bit frustrating. We ate in the car right away after receiving our food to make sure everything was fresh. The ham croquettes were very good. The spinach was okay, and the empanadas and tequeños were also decent. Unfortunately, the Pan con Lechón was a big disappointment. It had no flavor and tasted bland. The bread was cold and a little hard, and the pork lacked seasoning. It seemed like plain stir-fried pork with a little mojo sauce added, but it didn't come together well. This Sergio's Restaurant is located in London Square in Kendall. I wanted a way to celebrate the end of Latinx/Hispanic Heritage month so I came to Sergio's for a early morning pick me up. I wanted to order to-go and I was pointed to order from their Sergio's Go area. This is located around the corner from their main entrance and they have a little ventanita where you can order pastries, coffee, matcha on the go. They also had an small indoor area to grab the items or look at their full menu. I ended up going inside to check the full menu. I was curious because I saw that they have a new drink menu that felt super modern and had intriguing flavors. They even had matcha and heard on social media that I had to try it so, being the match connoisseur that I am, of course I got it. They have two choices, matcha coconut or matcha lavender. I went with the matcha lavender and it was DELICIOUS. It is on the sweeter side, so that's my main note, but if you aren't a matcha fan and love sweet drinks, definitely give this a try. I also got some pastries to go including carne maduro empanada and it was SO GOOD. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good as well. I love adding croquetas to it so that's what I did and it added a bit more depth to the sandwich. After realizing how good our food was, we ended up coming back that same day for dinner. My boyfriend lives near but hasn't been in a while and he said they really updated their menu since the last he came. They had more modern options and it felt like such a good variety to choose from. We sat outside and ordered the mini fritas and chispa fries and also the ropa vieja. Both were pretty good! I didn't love the mini fritas and the chispa fries were good but the red pepper was a bit different. Overall, I think it just wasn't for me but it might be for someone else. My boyfriend loved his ropa vieja though. Overall, a great spot to grab a quick bite to go or have a sit down meal! If you're into coffee (I wish I could have caffeine), definitely try out their newer menu that has cool flavors like Maria Cookie cold foam or honey shaken cortadito. read more

The chicharrones were pretty good. Don't get me wrong. But my goodness were they overpriced. And what's worse - I got them at a price that they were advertised, but they tried to charge me more. I asked about it and the explanation was that this was the new price. This was a tiny box of chicharrones the size of a McDonald's small fry.. that will now be $10. Ordered the Maria cookie crumble latte with oat milk and the cinnamon coconut cold foam. Cinnamon coconut cold foam was way too sweet. Tasted like Dunkin donuts latte and diabetes lol. The cookie crumble latte was better but they gave me whole milk instead of oat. When I called it out, the barista lied and said it was with oat milk. Mind you, I watched her make my latte. So if you're lactose intolerant me mindful they might not take your order specificities into consideration. I also ordered their bacon egg sandwich and I was surprised at how little bacon they gave me. They gave me half a piece... However, the potato bread is delicious so I'll order it again. read more

I ordered the Cuban Cobb salad for lunch. The order was placed online for delivery. I really liked the salad overall, especially the vinaigrette. I normally get the salad with shrimp or steak. This time I opted for the chicken as my protein. The chicken on the salad was very dry and almost inedible. After having a horrible experience at Casavana Cuban Cuisine three years ago (almost to the day!), I asked my friend from Miami to take us somewhere more upscale--and she absolutely delivered by bringing us to Sergio's. Funny enough, I found out that Sergio is actually owned by the ex-wife of the owner of Casavana--and after their split, she opened this spot. Honestly, it shows. The place is beautifully decorated with a classy, elevated vibe, and you can tell she brought the magic with her. The food? Out of this world. Every bite was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I ordered the breaded steak with white rice and black beans, and it was exactly how I remembered this dish tasting back in the day--absolutely delicious. The only miss for me was the yuca. It didn't feel quite authentic--too hard, and the onion and garlic were way too overpowering. Even my friend agreed it wasn't quite right. But aside from that, everything else hit the mark--reasonably priced, delicious, and served with friendly, attentive service. I can't wait to come back again. Went on a Saturday in the afternoon and although there was a little line, the girls work cohesively and every each help take your order. Although I didn't get a coffee, they looks super super yummy and unique. I got three empanadas and two small sandwitches. I didn't like that they the menu doesn't list what type of sandwitches they have. Also they are supee supee tiny like un bocadito and I wish it would be a bigger size per order. read more

Every time I come down to Miami I always stop at Sergio's. Nothing reminds me more of my childhood than a stop at their ventanita, a cafe con leche and a tostada. They are a classic institution for a reason. I tried some of their new menu offerings and they offered some classic flavors reimagined. There is something for everyone at Sergio's. Went here for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. We were seated in about 5 minutes. The tables were pretty close together, so with my daughter needing a high chair and the woman seating at the table near me being pregnant, it was a bit of a tight squeeze. It was okay but took a little coordinating. Our service here was just okay. I felt our server was friendly enough but mildly attentive, and maybe due to language issues she spoke only to my husband and not me. The food was delish! Not my favorite Cuban breakfast place... but definitely a good second! I had a mango pineapple mimosa which I highly recommend! Their Miami tortilla was so good. It had potatoes and onions and sweet plantains! We also ordered a Tabla Española appetizer so we could try the chorizo croquetas. They were good.. I haven't been to a Sergio's in years and while it's still steeped in the traditional foods you'd find at a Sergio's, I love all the new things that they're bringing out. They have menu items for those looking for a lower calorie meal, but still want the Cuban goodness that Sergio provides and they have new menu items like a truffle mushroom cheese burger, fried grouper bites & loaded nachos with plátano chips. I would ABSOLUTELY come back here again and I would also tell all my family and friends to go check out Sergio's if they haven't been in a while. Servers were great when they were around, service was a little slow and they did forget a couple of items, but were fast to correct when we notified them. Had a tortilla GQ that has ham, string potatoes, & onions. Normally I'd say it was great but to me it was a little overdone. The onions were not chopped up small but sliced and it was just stringy. Orange juice at room temperature was great. Service was great and that robot server was rather interesting. For a quick breakfast this did the job. read more

Normally, I would write a review that I'm a regular at and provide 5 stars. However, today isn't the case, the service typically is wonderful when my family and I come. But, Samay was our server and that is one server I wouldn't recommend to the blind, the confuse, my enemy or anyone for that matter because she is rude and when we do have her unfortunately she always manages to mess things up. I recommend to not get her if you're in her section then ask to move. My family and I had a horrible experience, food is always great but disappointed in the way we were treated by her. Although I love the relaxed patio setting as I am waiting for a new tire to get installed the server was kind and helpful, the music is chill background and the perfect volume. I loved the Cuban bread, wine and black beans however their speciality the shredded steak was super over cooked and hard to chew so they brought me a less crispy version which was ok. But I would not recommend because it was still dry and hard to chew. The roasted vegetables were on a bread plate so when you try to cut them they all fall off the plate. They were also cold. And the black beans were flavorful but not piping hot which I prefer and they were more like soup and I had to fish out the few beans. read more

This Sergio's is my go to restaurant when I want some food that makes me feel like I'm eating at home. Servers are always so attentive and have never had issues with my orders when I dine in. I HIGHLY recommend the Maria cookie iced coffee, it is one of my favorite coffees right now. I am a pan con bistec girl through and through but also love the ropa vieja from here. I've been eating at Sergio's since I was a teenager the first one at bird road . Now 50 years later i still enjoy their food , starting with the milanesa steak's, Cuban fritas cubanas Cuban hamburger it has beef and chorizo sausage , pork chunks, great tasting rice congri , and the crema de malanga is amazing , they have delicious pastries , meat empanadas also , yes the portions have been reduced drastically but their food is still Very delicious great service and ambiance , We still visit when we're in town .
