This was my first time having Peruvian food and it was absolutely amazing. The dish has a lot of flavor, but not spice so don't expect anything spicy. Service was superb as they gave recommendations. We were first served bread with butter and two salsas (orange and green) which were smooth and full of delicious vegetable taste. The bread was definitely fresh with that newly baked smell too! Big fan of this place! You wouldn't expect a delicious Peruvian spot in the middle of an Asian-dominated plaza (99 Ranch, Daiso & 85 degrees bakery) but I'm so glad we checked this place out. The angus in the lomo saltado was super tender and diced into nice bite-sized pieces. The dish can get a little salty when you get to the end of the dish with all of the soy sauce remaining. The arroz con marisco came loaded with seafood which we really appreciated. There were huge prawns and keeping the shells on the scallops made for a nice presentation even though it was for takeout. The family and I have now been to El Rocoto twice. The first time, I thought it was good but not out of the ordinary. I was a lot more impressed the second time around, for whatever reason. I've had the bistec a lo pobre, the pollo/lomo saltado, the tiraditos de pescado, and the ahi de gallina. My favorite thing I've eaten has been the ahi tuna tiradito. The fish is fresh and the marinade is delicious. I also really enjoyed the pollo saltado last time around too. I'll be back to find out more about the rest of the menu. Service is great, and this is a nicely decorated spot that fits both a casual weeknight dinner or a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary. So this El Recoto is just east of the Daiso and west of the 99 ranch market on Artesia blvd, just east of Normandie on the south side of Artesia. In my previous review, i said i still love the Tallarin Verde, which is the breaded chicken (flattened) with the pesto spaghetti. The spaghetti is so flavorful and delicious. They also give you a lot. The roasted potatoes are so good with the orange sauce and i use the orange sauce for chicken as well. I dump one of the green sauces on the spaghetti, it has in my opinion a bit more heat then the orange sauce and goes perfect with the spaghetti. i alternate dipping my chicken in green sauce as well, so ask for extra sauce, it's so delicious. As far as lomo saltado, which is one my favorite dishes, sometimes i think simpler is better, and feel the normal steak at el pollo inka which is cooked more well done is a bit more tasty. The quality is better here, but when it's cooked too medium-ish and a little bloody, it sort of tastes too mineraly to my taste buds and distracts from the overall flavor. I would still say try it if you only tried El Pollo Inka's lomo saltado which is excellent too. Anyways, come here for more of the seafood type stuff, like the fried calamari is always good here. El pollo inka the vainitas pollo (green beans chicken) or the aji de gallina (chicken stew) is excellent, which i don't know if they have it here, but i will look next time. Recommended by one of my neighbors who frequently take out food from this place. We were around the area and wanted to try the peruvian food. El Pollo Inka is one of our favorite peruvian places in the past. Havent tried other peruvian restaurants around. Especially after our Costa Rican trip, we certainly had lots of love towards South American and Central American food. Either ways, we went pretty early around 11.15am for lunch and it was pretty empty. The restaurant is big and lots of tables, the interiors are pretty and pleasant. We were greeted well and seated immediately. The hot bread that came out was pretty fresh, fluffy and soft. We ordered Aji De Gallina pollo, Saltado de Pollo, Arroz con Pollo. Ordered the Chica Morada drink which is the infused drink with lime, apple, cinnamon and pineapple. This drink was bomb, we all loved it. The saltado de pollo was very tasty except the fact that it is bit more salty. A little less salt would have been perfect. The gravy in the Aji De Gallina was good. Overall we liked all the food here, the portion is generous as well. But when it comes to cost, it is little bit on the expensive side. It is a nice place to try with family or friends. read more

Their prices are higher than similar spots in the area. Each lomo saltado was $22, so $50 for two people with taxes. However, the portion of steak you get is probably more than other places, so worth it if you have a good appetite. They provide two sauces, orange and green. The green one is the bomb. I've found El Rocoto to be conveniently located when I'm leaving the South Bay but want something to eat before joining the nearby Harbor Freeway. This Peruvian restaurant is located in the center of a strip mall on Artesia and easy to miss if you're driving by. Prices approach that of more upscale places, but the general food quality is good, so I don't feel too bad about the pricing. I've visited here four times and each time very much enjoyed my meal. There are well over a dozen appetizers. My favorite has been the Pulpo a la Parrilla, sliced octopus, lightly grilled, with a light olive sauce. The octopus legs were cut into large chunks and were slightly on the chewy side. Perhaps it's a bit of a novelty for some but it will be getting a repeat order from me. The Mixto Cebiche appetizer included halibut, squid, octopus, and shrimp in a mix with sweet potato yam, red onions, soft large kernel corn, crunchy Peruvian corn kernels, and lettuce, all in a Leche de Tigre sauce that added a very nice sweet citrus taste to the ceviche and was the highlight of the dish. The Chicharron Calamari had a large portion of lightly fried breaded squid. The squid was topped with red onions, cilantro, and tomatoes, with a side of lime slices for added zest. The squid was just a tad chewy, but certainly not excessively so. A good choice if you want to share an appetizer. The Tiradito Clasico appetizer had thinly cut halibut sashimi covered with an aji limo and Leche de Tigre sauce. The halibut was very fresh and the sauces nicely complemented the fish. A small bowl of crunchy Peruvian corn kernels, which was placed on top of some the halibut, was fine by itself but didn't work well with the much more delicate halibut. There is a nice collection of entrees. Dinner mates of mine have frequently ordered pollo (chicken) dishes and each time I've heard very positive comments. The chicken has usually been excellently cooked and falling off the bone. I've found myself always ordering the seafood dishes so I don't have any personal comments about the chicken themed items. The best entrée I've had was the Arroz con Mariscos, assorted seafood with rice. It contained shrimp, small scallops, mussels, squid, and octopus. All very good. The rice was cooked with saffron and a red wine sauce, that was exceptionally good tasting. The saffron spice infused a rich yellow color and tasted marvelous. It was the saffron and wine flavoring that made this a memorable dish. The Chaufa Marisco was another seafood dish with rice, but this one had a Peruvian style fried rice that was good but not quite as good as the saffron version. This selection also contained shrimp, small scallops, mussels, squid, and octopus. A little on the drier side but a nice dish. The Picante de Mariscos was another seafood combination, with a large shrimp, lots of squid, and scallops and octopus. The orange colored aji panca sauce had a nice flavor with very little spice heat and it was well worth the effort to spoon up the remainder when the seafood and rice had been finished off. The Pescado a lo Macho was also a seafood combination but this one dominated by a fish fillet added on top. A yellowish aji amarillo sauce covered all the seafood and rice. Good but not as good as some of the other dishes. There are daily specials listed on a board near the front door which have looked very appealing but I haven't tried any of them. read more

There wasn't a wait and we were seated immediately. I haven't been here in a while but the menu looks the same maybe just higher prices. We were served French bread with butter, but I like dipping it with the green and orange sauce. We ordered lomo saltado and this creamy dish with seafood and fried fish. The lomo saltado here is really good and isn't super greasy like other Peruvian food places. I liked how they use chunks of beef that were seared and crispy. He French fries weren't super soggy and the onions and tomatoes still had a nice crunch to them. The rice soaks up all the salty beef stock sauce, which makes the dish savory. The other dish we got came with fried fish, calamari, mini squid, shrimp, scallops, and muscles. The sauce was creamy, but balanced well with the rice. I liked dipping the French bread in the sauce. It wasn't super seafood tasting, which was nice. Per person expect to spend around 20$, but the portion are pretty big. This is probably one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants to go to.
