Well, it's been quite a while since we dined here and, after tonight, we are wondering why we didn't come back sooner. The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Absolutely the worst. The place is left to be run by a bunch of un professional staff. Came to sit down and despite the place having many tables, the person by the door insisted that we have all of party present to seat us, which is understandable if they are busy but they were not even 50% full, when I said my brother was right there walking down the street, he insisted to hold his ground. Then literally 30 seconds later my brother is here, then I tell him he is right right there, he goes "ok, I will let you know when a table is ready", why not use stove common sense & say that a table is not even ready? Sounds like steering maybe because of the 4 kids ? Maybe something else? Very rude and I'm acceptable behavior. We've been here several times and have never been disappointed. They have some unique dishes like the chevapchichi -- really tasty Serbian sausages accompanied by veggies and potatoes. They have savory and healthy options, a good wine list, and are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our favorites include the zucchini pankcakes, grilled mushrooms, lamb osso buco, and skirt steak. The owner is one of the nicest hosts we've ever met. It's got a lovely open air spacious atmosphere. It's a good option to offset the other packed family-filled restaurants in the area. This time I went with the smoked salmon Benedict instead and was happy with the choice. Great place for Sunday brunch! Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Both have a nice vibe so we didn't mind either and waited for about 10-15 min before getting seated. I ordered the sautéed banana house special pancakes. I don't always love a sweet breakfast but these pancakes were delicious. Liked the atmosphere here with outside seating and it was very busy so seemed like a good option but the service was extremely slow and not friendly, our waitress seemed irritated or maybe she was overwhelmed not sure but we waited for almost an hour for our food and around 15-20 minutes just to get water after we sat down so that was disappointing the food was okay but nothing I would come back for, I've tried metro cafe in Culver City and service was good and so was the food not sure if this is the same company. read more

This is such an amazing little restaurant. It was suggested as a date place and it was absolutely perfect. They have live music every other Friday and it happened to be a Friday that they had live music! It's a Serbian restaurant and I found the Ćevapčići to be fabulous! I personally swapped out the potatoes for mashed potatoes and I had the onions grilled and it was absolutely divine. The restaurant sits right along grand and has a very open field with the fresh ocean breeze is coming through the windows it's very nice. The staff makes you feel like you're with family. Came here on a Thursday when trying to find a brunch spot near LAX before a flight. This was a golden find. We ordered 3 "favorites" from the menu. The Avocado toast, El Segundo Omelette, and the Sautéed banana pancakes. I am not exaggerating when I say all 3 were delicious. Their portion size is beyond expectations. We were jaw dropped when they brought out the plates because they were huge; especially the Avocado Toast. The menu has one side for breakfast/brunch and another side for lunch. I haven't had the chance to try the lunch side but definitely will be coming back to. The El Segundo Omelette is great if you're a caramelized onion lover. As one, they did it perfect. The Sautéed Banana house pancakes are underrated. Never had anything like it at other restaurants. It's one you'd comeback for. The ambience is beautiful. Especially when it's nice and sunny making it a great brunch environment. Restaurant is super clean and neat. The workers are helpful. Overall a great experience. Sunny, Relaxing Brunch Spot I stopped by Metro Café in El Segundo for brunch with family, and we had a really lovely experience. The service was great, the atmosphere was bright and relaxing, and the open, sunny space made it an easy place to unwind. The food was delicious overall. The fresh fruit was amazing, and the strawberry mint lemonade was refreshing and delightful. The only small suggestion I'd make is for the Petit Italian -- the ciabatta slices were a bit too thick, and it made the dish a little messy to eat. Thinner slices would make it perfect. I remember the first time I ate here, I wasn't a fan. But the last couple of times I've been, I would say they've improved significantly! I'm quite the picky eater so sometimes struggle with some menu options. One night, with friends, I was pretty indecisive. Last minute I went with the chicken schnitzel. It was pretty good! We shared a salad for the table that was also delicious. The service was also attentive enough to have my water refilled which is so important for me. I drink lots of water :p. *Delayed post from July '25 We really enjoyed our meal and experience here at Metro Cafe! Free public parking is conveniently available next door in the garage. We sat outside and appreciated the large amount of shade provided by the umbrellas. The restaurant is an indoor, outdoor hybrid because the windows are huge and open completely to allow the sea breeze inside. TVs line the indoor walls with various sports games and real plants are sprinkled throughout the space. To start we ordered a cappuccino and a matcha latte, which both came out with a large amount of foam on top with latte art and a slice of brown sugar on the side. The smoked salmon benedict was delicious and went well with the egg muffins underneath. I recommend adding Cholula sauce to give the hollandaise a kick. There was a significant amount of salmon and I loved the tomatoes and fresh herbs on top. All the plates seemed to have large portions, but the French toast especially was massive! It's made with four giant brioche slices that are crunchy and crispy on the outside, yet spongy and moist in the middle from being properly soaked through. I think it would be better however to cut the slices in half because you would have a better ratio of crispy to spongey in every bite. The raspberry jam pairs well with the sweet meal because it's tart and adding the fresh fruit is a must because you need more textures and flavors to break up the monotony of eating sugar coated bread. I personally didn't need to use the syrup at all with how sweet and moist the bread already was, but they provide it for those with an extra sweet tooth. read more

Very beautiful location and great outside dinning. Expensive. 9 dollar orange juice! Watch out!. But what isn't these days in the South Bay. Food quality isn't there for the price . I ordered an omelette with mushroom and vegetables. I received eggs overcooked with mushroom and vegetable toppings thrown on top instead of cooked in. But not for children. If you're ever picking someone up or dropping someone off at LAX, this a great place nearby in a nice area to try! Firstly I love restaurants that have great indoor and outdoor seating and a lot of natural light, and this place happens to have both. Unfortunately I was too hungry to take pictures before I could take a few bites, but everything we ordered was excellent. One thing I did notice was how fresh the food was, even the eggs were pretty incredible, they were so fresh they were almost an orange color which I thought was unique. I'm also a person that likes to ask the servers or wait staff what they recommend and each item our server recommended was great. I came to Metro Cafe in El Segundo with the fam for breakfast on my first day back in LA, and we were firing on all cylinders. As I pulled up, I saw my 11 month old nephew outside smiling at me from ear to ear. I have been fighting demons recently and hadn't seen him in a few months, and that smile was honestly all I needed. If they could bottle a baby's genuine smile and sell it, I think it could cure depression worldwide. 6 of us and 1 baby sat down in Metro, natural light flooding in from the huge windows as we caught up. Vibes were UP. The older I get, the more I see my peers having fractured family dynamics, so I'm beyond grateful to have such a great relationship with my Mom, Dad, brother, and sister in law. A true blessing. I locked in on my lifeblood order of 2 eggs any style with chicken sausage ($21). The thing about me is I just love ordering a breakfast I could easily make at home. Decided to give this place a second try because my boyfriend wanted french toast. The last time we were here, he liked it. I decided to order the Nutella crepes with fruit and eggs/bacon/potatoes. They were okay. We got watermelon with our orders and the watermelon looked and tasted old. As for the french toast my boyfriend didn't even eat it, he cut it and the inside was still raw and it tasted too much like runny egg. He was grossed out and just didn't eat it at all. I like Metro. The food quality is very high and the flavor profiles are also always flavorful. I do think some of their pricing is on the high side but they have good friendly service and there are not many good restaurants in El Segundo. WOW! My husband and I have passed this spot many times seeing the happy customers inside, so we finally stepped in. This place is AMAZING! I had the Veggie Frittata and, no joke, when I say I had to hold back on INHALING this plate... I am not joking at all! The side potatoes are a whole new level of food pleasure. I barely paid attention to my husband (sorry babe!) because I was so wrapped up in my food ecstasy. (Think the When Harry Met Sally cafe scene. If you know, ya know.) The ambiance was simply perfect! We were treated so well by all staff, with many stopping by to refill our drinks or bring extra napkins at the simplest sign we may be in need. Everyone was so kind, respectful, and best of all welcoming. On our way out we noticed the beautiful couple next to us and they had ordered the French toast. My mouth dropped at the MASSIVE portion of the delectable plate in between them. I guess the wife noticed my eyes bulging out in awe because she smiled and let me know that it is the BEST French toast in all of the South Bay. She also let me know that the full plate was enough to share between her and her husband with home fries on the side. I thanked her, apologized for my drool, and noted to try that order the next time I came in. I can barely wait to stop by again!!! the food was great for the most part. i ordered avo toast and potatoes. the toast was huuuuge. my best friend ordered pancakes. literally the only reason we visited honestly. she was pleased. service was good no complaints there. and i loved the option for outdoor seating. the bathroom wasn't clean but it was closing soon and i know they were preparing to clean before it reopened. my only gripe was that it looked like my cantaloupe had a bite taken out of it. the server assured me that wasn't the case and confirmed with the back of house that they dig out the seeds but i wasn't convinced and def didn't eat it. read more

I have never visited Downtown El Segundo. What a pleasant surprise. Metro Cafe is right smack in the middle of it. There is a nice free public parking garage directly behind the cafe. Love it! I was there on a Saturday afternoon in January. There were open seats both inside and outside. During the summer they are likely much busier. It's a very relaxed, clean environment and the natural lighting is just right. The menu is simple, but there are plenty of options to choose from, and the prices are fair, especially for a beach community. I ordered hot tea. The first tea teapot they brought out was chipped and discolored at the spout. I hope they threw that one out! The next teapot easily passed muster and the mint tea was excellent! For food, my friend had avocado toast ($16) and I had a regular hamburger ($18). I ordered the burger medium but it arrived well done. Our awesome server Geovani made it right with another burger cooked to a perfect medium! The burger itself was pretty average. It didn't have much flavor. It didn't have any kind of sauce on it like the first one that I sent back. It really needed something to bring out the flavor. Good presentation and a good bun, though. The fries that came with it were nice and crispy, and they give you plenty. My friend loved her avocado toast. She's a regular there and she says it's always good. Sitting at the patio under an umbrella while enjoying my French Toast in the sunshine just minutes from the beach made for a lovely experience. The service was very friendly and thoughtful, both from wait staff as well as the manager. All of the food we ordered was delicious, but the star was the aforementioned French Toast with additional fruit. Fluffy and thick slices of brioche toast made in-house is served with raspberry compote and topped with strawberries, blueberries, and banana slices, with a dusting of powdered sugar and butter and maple syrup on the side.
