A great stop if you're traveling south on 281 towards San Antonio. The salsa they bring with the chips and salsa is tasty. I've always said the salsa is what makes a good Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant. I had a margarita to refresh myself after a hike and it did the trick. Ordered the mini tacos with asada meat and they were also tasty! The green salsa they bring out is also delicious. We used to live pretty close to this place and I would get tacos there pretty frequently. We moved from the area and then moved back, but about 10-15 min South. I tried places closer to home for breakfast tacos (and to be honest, that is all I have ever had from El Rodeo), but now I just drive the 15 minutes because their breakfast tacos are the best around. Our typical order is 3 bacon, egg, and cheese for me, 2 potato egg and cheese for my son, and 1 potato eggs and cheese plus a rotating mystery taco for my wife (carne guisada, chorizo and egg, etc). My first time back I ordered without looking at prices and then tried to calculate what I thought it would cost while I waited in the drive through. To my surprise, we paid about half what I thought it would cost. And despite that, you still get good sized tacos. If you live in the 281/46 area, or within 20 minutes of it, this is one of the top breakfast taco joints. read more

Have drove by many times and decided to stop by and have lunch with my grandson. It wasn't busy, maybe 3 other customers but it took a while for our server to get to us. The chips were stale tasting but salsa was pretty good. My grandson ordered tacos but said they didn't have any flavor. Not sure if it was an off day but we haven't returned to find out. read more

I had to revise my review of this place. My previous review was based on day when I must have been having a bad day. We have now been eating here for over a year. During that time, I found their soft beef fajita tacos and their queso. Both are awesome. As soon as we get there, we order the queso. When the fajitas get to the table, I add some of the queso and some salsa right on top, and then chow down. How much would you pay for 2 beef fajita tacos that have enough stuff to fill 3 tacos? How about $2 per taco - a really low price:) On top of good food and low prices, they have really great help. One of the servers reminds me of one of my wife's italian aunts. She's so nice, and we really enjoy visiting with her. So why didn't I rate them a 5? The salsa is good, but not my favorite. Also, their hours are kind of sketchy as they sometimes close before 8. Everyone else is charging a arm and a leg for itty bitty tacos like there getting there meat from France or something haha. Good barbacoa here as well. But it gets even better, not only is this a great deal, the fodd was very good. Their salsa was perfect, nice flavor with a little heat, tortillas were fresh and everything else was good. Small place but very friendly, more parking in the back. Fajita plate was excellent and so was the sour cream chicken enchiladas. Queso and salsa was also great. Would definitely go back! We live close by and this is one of our favorite breakfast taco spots! They offer a drive thru, which is so convenient for us with two little kids, their service and quick and we've never been disappointed! We haven't tried much else on the menu so I can't speak for that. But if you're looking for breakfast tacos stop here. My favorite is bean bacon and cheese. read more

Legit, old-school Mexican food in a comfortable setting. Unlike newer places that over charge for inauthentic mid-western "Tex-Mex" this place knows the simplicity and consistency makes a classic. EDITED: Went back again and noticed that pretty much no one working there was a day over 19 and that can spell trouble. COMPLETELY IMPRESSED! They greeted all the customers on entry, kept the tables bussed and floors clean, and you could tell that they actually cared about the jobs they were doing. We've been coming here for years. It was actually one of my favorite spots for carne guisada and bean and cheese tacos. However, I was extremely disappointed with my service today. As I took a bite out of my bean and cheese taco, I realized something other than cheese was being stretched out. To my disgust, it was a hair! I pulled it out since it was nestled in the taco. I held it up to the light and it definitely was not my hair color. I immediately called the restaurant. I asked the gentleman if the kitchen staff wore hair nets and he said no. He did not offer to compensate our meal. He just said he would write our name down for when we would come in again. Sadly, I probably won't step foot in this restaurant again. Clearly they don't have a cleanliness protocol and aren't to health standards. And yes, I could still feel part of that hair in my throat. I hope I don't get sick from this ordeal. read more

Unsure of how this place has such high ratings. Came in at 4:30 on a Wednesday to a waitress who didn't greet us, or offer a high chair. I had to ask for one ... The staff had on awful music that should be played in a club and to top it off .. the waitress didn't even ask my husband what he wanted to drink. She just brought him water. The food was so awful that we ate just enough to not be starving and will be feeding the rest to our GOATS. I know this may come as a shock to you, but not far from San Antonio, just a short drive from Loop 1604 there's a surprising lack of Mexican food! I know. It's crazy. But fear not! El Rodeo is in town, and the town happens to be Spring Branch. Serving up a menu full of todo de todo of your favorite Mexican dishes, this place is sure to satisfy your Mexicaddiction. The chips aren't homemade, at least they don't seem to be, but they're delicious and go perfectly with the homemade (and just right) salsa. I'll be back to try something other than the enchiladas verde lunch special. I didn't realize they were just cheese, otherwise I would've explored the menu a bit more. Oh well. We order a variety of breakfast tacos but the chorizo and egg is my favorite. I've heard good things about the assada and bean/cheese/bacon custom combo my coworkers enjoy. Well, we have been coming here frequently and bringing people, but today was shocking. When we entered, most of the tables were not bused. The waitress looked at us over her shoulder and shook her head and rolled her eyes. Then when we set down to wait for service she came over and cleared the table without looking at us with a very nasty look of displeasure and walked off without saying a word. My suggestion would be to order your food and go the bar and grill next door! Great staff and even better food! I had the Gorditas plate and it was the bomb! My husband & I have gotten Togo orders here about 3 or four times, and have had only one good experience. Staff is always so rude when calling in Togo orders, very short responses, no customer service at all. I couldn't believe how rude they were. & the food isn't anything special, very bland.
