    Salvadoran breakfast
    Sergio Z.

La Parilla is a small Salvadoran restaurant on the corner of 1st street and Rowan Ave in East L.A. serving Salvadoran cuisine. My wife and I enjoy Salvadoran cuisine very much we enjoy pupusa and fried plantains with Salvadoran sour cream and black beans and other Salvadoran dishes. We came to the La Parilla after we drop off our recycled at the recycled center. We we're very hungry and with a big appetite then we walk in the restaurant,we we're greet by the owners and they told seat anywhere we did and owner hand us the menu. We look at the menu it was a simple menu with classic Salvadoran dishes like pupusas,Fried plantains and other dishes. Then we decided to order my wife order the chorizo with egg Salvadoran style comesvwith fried plantains and black bean dipping sauce and cheese on the side. I order the Salvadoran breakfast comes with eggs with vegetables mix in with the eggs black beans with rice fried plantains with Salvadoran sour cream black bean sauce and two Salvadoran chorizo sauage and Salvadoran tortillas. And my wife order a pupusa on the side. We waited for our food we enjoy the chip and black bean dip and enjoying our drink my wife drinking her Jamaica of Hibiscus drink and drinking my coffee. The owner brought us our meal it looks so good we took a bite of our food, the food was really good having Salvadoran breakfast for the first time we were surprise how good the food is. The eggs with mixed vegetables were amazing flavors and the black bean and rice were good and the fried plantains were so good and using the Salvadoran sour cream were amazing and Salvadoran chorizo sauage were so good it wasn't salty nor fatty it was perfect. The Salvadoran tortillas were fluffy chewy and delicious good. My wife enjoy her chorizo with egg mixed and also she enjoy the pupusa. My wife and need to come again to the La Parilla and try different items.

Food & service were amazing. Will definitely be back. One thing to note the pupusas are big. We definitely ordered too much food.

We came a couple of months ago and had their loaded yucca fries with carne asada as well as some pupusas. The meat on our fries felt really low quality-- the best way I could describe it was it tasting like frozen hamburger meat-- and gave us indigestion for the rest of the night, which was really disappointing to experience. Today we unfortunately experienced some really rude service. My bf ordered a plain water and we were given a fresco ensalada (no big deal, he likes it) We don't eat pork and ordered fried yucca on its own, just yucca frita. We were given a plate of yucca con chicharron :( I told the service we just ordered yucca frita and we were told that we did not specify that for her. I explained that we don't eat pork so we sent it back and were met with a displeasing look. I said we didn't want to yucca anymore since we had a lot of food already and she said "the kitchen already made it." So I said it was fine but just the yucca this time and she came back with the same exact plate just without the chicharron-- no visible plate change. Needless to say for the price, decline in food quality, and rude service, it's not worth coming back. At least not for a while.

We started with the ensalada, which was refreshing and had just the right amount of sweetness. For pupusas, we ordered the revueltas, loroco con queso, and frijol con queso. We tried both corn and rice dough, and honestly, both were delicious. My personal favorite was the frijol con queso with the rice dough- so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The yuca frita was exactly how it should be: crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The chicharrón was cooked perfectly as well, and the homemade green salsa that the sweet lady helping us made was the perfect addition. She was so kind, welcoming, and always had a friendly smile, which made the experience even better. Another thing that really stood out was how clean the restaurant is. It's spacious, with plenty of seating whether you're coming with a large group, your family, or just stopping by for a meal on your own. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back. Next time we're bringing my Salvadoran in-laws- I have a feeling this place will get their authenticity approval too! Spanish!

Service was quick, there is a big dining room with plenty of seating in case you want to dine in, looked very clean. Massive pupusas with a lot of filling, not one of those restaurants that give you nothing but masa, these pupusas were legit. They come with Curtido and the usual salsa roja. So much flavor packed into these things, these are some of the best pupusas I've ever had, good size and they do not cheap us out on filling. Definitely try em if you're in the area! Parking on the street, or in the back very limited in the alley.

I've actually traveled to El Salvador before, so I've had the opportunity to experience the food there firsthand. Since coming back, I really haven't found many places that gave me that same authentic taste and feeling--until coming here. Everything we tried was amazing. The pupusas, beans, plantains, meats, and all the traditional flavors were on point. You can tell the food is prepared with that real homemade Salvadorian style. If you've been to El Salvador and know what authentic Salvadorian food is supposed to taste like, this place will bring back some memories. In my opinion, this is about as close as you're going to get without actually getting on a plane and going to El Salvador. Great food, authentic flavors, and definitely a place I'll be coming back to. Highly recommended!
