Good tasting taco's at a very reasonable cost with a nice open courtyard to enjoy your meal in. Several things are preventing a fifth star from my perspective and they include lack of complementary chips and salsa which many if not most of the sit down taco restaurants offer and no fixing station to allow you to make the taco your way. If you are looking for a taco restaurant that has The fixings station with complementary chips at a cost lower than Santo's, than travel a couple blocks away to Taco's Revolution. That is my favorite Taco joint in the area.
Very nice ambiance and tasty tacos. Prices typical for tacos in the area. The accompanying sauces were quite good, but I was disappointed that no chips were provided (as I've become accustomed to from the other good taco restaurants I've been to). Overall, it is on a par with the other good taco places here. Service was ok.
So good, we came *back* twice! Service was superb. The tacos tasted like the perfect authentic street tacos we were looking for. The spicy virgin margarita that I ordered was mind blowing. The amazing bartender Lesly made it and I couldn't believe how good she made it. Please see the photo. It's a really pretty joint with outdoor seating that has a massive roof cover so you're not being rained on, since it really pours down here. See videos ;) The thunder sounds are so amazing and the heavy rain on the roof is just so comforting for some reason, especially while you're eating such comfort foods. We tried the asada, el pastor, and shrimp tacos. The asada was out of this world, the shrimp was really really delicious, and the pastor tacos were okay. Highly recommend the asada! I was super pleased on my first visit. The second visit was great too, but not as mind blowing. I believe someone else made my drink and it wasn't the same, I think Lesly really SLAYED that drink my first time there. She knows what she's doing. The asada tacos had much more fat on the second visit, I mean I was literally picking all the fat pieces off my tacos, they were way too much. But other than that, awesome everything. Lesly was AMAZING both visits, so tentative, friendly, and really went out of her way checking on us and making sure we were okay. The two waiters were also great and tentative. They were two young boys, I believe Jorge and Javier maybe? Anyhow, check out the pictures and try not to drool over your device ;)
Loved the food here! The atmosphere was in a very nice spacious courtyard. The waitstaff doesn't speak much English but I loved that. After all we were in Mexico. My husband and I can get around pretty good with the Spanish we do know. The chicken tortilla soup was one of the top three things I tastes while in PV. Absolutely stunning. So good I am inspired at home and making it tomorrow. The tacos, salsas, tostadas all amazing. The prices are right and the atmosphere is great. Can not wait to return on our next visit.
El Santo Taco has among the very best atmospheres among PVR taco shops, and they have good tacos to boot. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Really tough to beat the vibe and service at El Santo Taco. I'll put it this way - of course if I brought my entire family to PVR I'd want to take them to the likes of Pancho's or Pepe's, but I can't picture my mom or young nieces being willing to wait in line or sit among smoke coming off of the pit. El Santo Taco is comfortable for a date or even if grandma is with you on account of the abundant comfortable seating and the upscale but not pretentious atmosphere. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? There's a wide range of prices for El Santo Taco from 22,00 MXP for the pastor to 50,00 MXP for the shrimp pastor tacos. That's a tiny bit more than what you'll pay elsewhere, but the tacos come with a heap of chips and salsas and are medium sized, so it's all good value. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? These were good tacos. The best I've had? No, but the meats themselves were good, the salsas amazing, and the only letdown was the weak tortillas and the somewhat smaller portions compared to say Pancho's or Sonorita. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Certainly. Star.
Looking for a less crowded space for tacos than Panchos, we decided to try here. Tacos were yummy. The pastor tacos were my favorite. The ambiance of this place is beautiful. The courtyard and the mural make it special. I had their house specialty drink and it was delicious, you only need one. If you are looking for excellent street tacos without the wait or rush of looking at a hungry line of people outside, this is your place!
This place is a hidden gem. The backyard patio is super nice, the food is great. The tortillas are great. The service is excellent. All of this comes at a decent price. Much better than some of the others in the area. All the tables were taken when I visited. When I arrived anyway so I sat at the bar and was helped by Christian which was a good decision
From the front doesn't look like much but once you go to the back you will find a beautiful open space, decorated with nice art and plants. It's partially cover, this matter in rainy season. The service is outstanding, servers very attentive and polite. Food was delicious and good portions! Me and my friend were very happy with the whole dinner experience.
Went to this place because of the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, my friends and I did not enjoy our visit. The food was not that good, once it finally came. And it took us going up to someone to check on our beverages. Great outdoor space but much better food elsewhere.
Amazing food!! Great service and the atmosphere on a nice breezy evening was perfect !! Shrimp tacos and natural cheese quesadilla was 100!! Everything was delicious!! Recommend this awesome little spot!!
Dropped in here to escape the heat while shopping and grab a snack. Friendly, relaxing, garden dining. Excellent service and impeccable food. My wife, somewhat of a connoisseur, indicated it was the best ceviche of her life. I had shrimp tacos. Loved the presentation, loved the food, loved the cocktails.
OH MY GOD this place is beyond Amaaaaazing!!!! The food besides being tasty is extremely inexpensive and authentic. Come by and ask for Scott, the GM. Seriously $100 pesos per person (that's $5 USD!!) will get you out the door for food. Drinks are well served and prices are beyond competitive. The volcan is filling and recommend you order a Volcan Al Pastor and Arracherra Quesadilla. Wow!!! The salsas are beyond amazing and never lack of flavor or spice. The dessert is a recipe made by the managers grandmother.
I wish I could give this place 5 stars or even 3. I hate giving bad reviews. Im sure they are trying, because no restaurant wants negative comments, but this was not good. There were 11 of us, so in their defense, we were a lot. They only have a small pizza oven and everyone wanted pizza. We were not prepared for their inability to serves us in a timely manner. We arrived at 7:40pm and all meals were finally delivered just after 9. 2 pizzas were badly burnt. I ordered Tacos Pastor and was disappointed. They just didnt have the flavor that I've found in other establishments around Puerto Vallarta. I hope we just hit on a bad night. The staff was friendly and I honestly believe they were doing the best they could. The prices were decent, but they were definitely off, as a team. read more

I really wanted to give just three and 1/2 stars. The menu has expanded and they now have fajitas and also offer pizzas. We visited twice during a two week vacation. The first visit was fine so we went a second time. On our second visit, my husband asked about the pizzas and was told they weren't available. The courtyard in back does seem to have a new pizza oven installed but the wood sat beneath it unused. It wasn't working on our first visit either but we didn't ask about the pizza. If you are not going to fire up the pizza oven, at least advertise you do on Friday, Saturday and Sundays or whenever it is you do operate it. We seemed to be the first to arrive on our second visit. The guy who seated us changed the music to a rap genre he must have assumed we would enjoy more. We did not mind. As other dinners joined us we looked around to see their reactions to the songs and their naughty words. As we had hoped, two elderly ladies were seated and three songs into their visit Cardi B also arrived to sing "WAP". We were not certain if they were listening to each songs lyrics but they did sway back and forth in their chairs in tempo to the beat. That was fun. I wanted the chicken fajitas and the waitress returned to indicate they had no chicken. I was not sure if this was some Mexican version of the U.S. version of dealing with shortages in baby formula. I glanced toward the pizza oven and switched my fajita order to flank steak. They must have been sorry about the missing chicken and gave me a serving that would feed two. I asked for three extra tortillas and had the remainder boxed up as I wanted to pass it along to a hungry homeless person. Mission accomplished. read more

Wow! Amazed! Yummy! Cheap! This is an amazing restaurant with a lovely ambiance, sublime tacos and meals, and the best customer service in the city. We are here numerous times throughout our time here. Please visit this place as it is better than many places on the strip! Make sure to try the meat in a pineapple! read more

The atmosphere here is unlike any other place I've been to. They have great drinks, delicious food (some of the best tacos I've ever had) and friendly waiters. Not to mention how beautiful the mural in the patio is. We will definitely be back on our next trip! read more

The Camarones de Pastor are excellent, as are the fried fish and shrimp tacos...the salsa set up nice...pleasant patio, though the music can be a bit loud and perhaps too pop-American oriented... The food is very good...portions great... The service is family-style which is fine for this establishment...if you need anything, it is available... The food is 5-star yummy...the main reason for four stars is the loud, American pop music...I like places that are more true to what they are (Italian...Dean Martin...Puccini ) and I would give any dining establishment the same star-rating with that kind of ambience...but I'm an old fart so... read more

All the waiters were fantastic, the margaritas with delicious and well mixed, the tacos (pastor) were so good I had to order a second helping, they had like music and the environment was perfect. Overall, would recommend to anyone looking to have a great overall experience and eat some great food. read more

While walking down Basillo Badillo towards another restaurant, we were drawn into El Santo Taco by the wonderful smells of roasting al pastor, the sight of fresh tortillas being made, and the excitement of Scott the owner/manager. We decided to try it and I'm so glad that we did! The venue is much larger than we expected with an open courtyard at the back and open air seating. The mural must be about 20'x20' painted on the back wall and was captivating and interesting to look at. As you can see, I took pictures of my sons in front of the wall. The ambiance is very cozy and inviting, but with plenty of space as well. The courtyard is definitely the preferred place to sit, but there is a large bar for seating, as well as tables inside the restaurant. Scott welcomed us to the restaurant, then turned it over to a waiter to seat us and take our orders. The service was prompt and friendly, yet we never felt rushed. We all ordered tacos al pastor with cilantro and onions along with a carne asada quesadilla and I also ordered a chorizo quesadilla. The tacos were very flavorful and similar to another famous taco restaurant down the street that is much smaller and feels very cramped. My chorizo quesadilla was good, but I wouldn't order it again. I would prefer an al pastor quesadilla. The cheese inside the quesadilla would greatly add to the wonderful flavor of the meat. The prices are very very reasonable. We finished the meal with some excellent flan. I'm a foodie, especially when it comes to tacos and there are several excellent taco restaurants in Vallarta. I now count El Santo Taco among them and will definitely be back. From start to finish I felt valued as a customer. The restaurant was clean, the employees very friendly and inviting, and the food was excellent at very reasonable prices. Unfortunately they don't accept credit cards, so bring cash. There is a lot of competition in Vallarta for your dining dollars and I count El Santo Taco among the best. Try them out, you won't be disappointed. read more

Upon earlier Yelp reviews, we went to eat here. First time we arrived, they were closed and looked like they were remodeling. Came back few day later and found really Poor service (1 waiter & 1 bartender) serving 25 people; took forever, and the taco's were SO greasy; just swimming in oil. Maybe under new ownership or management? I can't recommend this restaurant. RUN AWAY! read more

We actually found this place on the way back to our hotel at the last minute we were stuffed already but found room for these delicious tacos!! The best we've tried in the Romantica area were from L.A. so we know good tacos. Don't be fooled by the exterior very cozy atmosphere and exceptionally friendly staff read more

Finishing the best torta I've EVER had. The el pastor meat (from the spicket) on the grilled torta bun is so good I can't wait to come back and get another one Open air courtyard, great drinks, amazingly good prices, great service.
