As far as NC Mexican dining, this place is GREAT! Best in or near the Knightdale area. I really like the guac dip, and the enchiladas are good! I like that the salsa is mild. If you are used to some really spicy, tex mex I think you would have to ask them to add some heat. But, I prefer it mild so Im a happy customer =) read more

We both had food poisoning! We were up all night. And we only ordered simple things like tacos, a burrito and a cheese quesadilla. This was after giving this place a second try. The food at El Senor tastes like someone without tastebuds made it. It had very little flavor and I was not impressed. I had the huevos rancheros, and my plate was supposed to have beans with the rice and the waiter forgot to mention they were out of beans until he brought out the plates. It is beyond me how a Mexican restaurant can be out of beans. The salsa was ok, it tasted like Pace. The tortillas were definitely not hand-made. On the plus-side the prices are very affordable and the waitstaff was very friendly and accomodating when I asked for unsweetened ice tea after he had already brought me sweetened. And, the alcohol specials are great too. I would probably come back for an appetizer and a couple beers or ritas. I guess I'll keep looking for really good authentic Mexican food. read more

Authentic Mexican at its best, one the best restaurants I've found. Serving sizes are very large, they also offer half orders on there dishes which is even more than enough for a hungry person. Prices are great, staff is very friendly, service is fast and servers are extremely attentive to your needs and bringing refills. We went for a Friday dinner. They were very busy, but I think it was the best service we've received at a restaurant since moving to Raleigh about seven months ago. Very attentive, very fast, and very friendly. The cheese dip is delicious and I always like getting individual salsa bowls. The entrees were very good as well. I was surprised by how much I even appreciated the guacamole salad, especially that they brought it before the entrees. I used to think El Dorado was the best locally but El Senor is a lot better. It's always got a good crowd but the food comes out so fast there's never really a long wait. Get the carnitas; they are literally the best I've had in NC and I've tried them all over this state. This place has not changed from years ago when I first discovered it.
