Great carne asada and marinated chicken! Our dinner guests were raving! Small place, loaded with stuff, pleasant employees. I'll be back!

I had a wonderful phone conversation with the owner Ben who personally took my order. We agreed upon a date and time two weeks out since I was going to be out of town for the 4th of July week. They called while I was out of town to confirm the date and time (between 10-11 am) which was great! When I arrived to the store with my son around 11:15 because of the heavy traffic on 91W I went to the counter and was told by a young female that I needed to go to the pay counter. She was curt and not helpful. There was only three people ahead of me so no problem. But the elder gentleman in front of me, who was being helped by the young man who would eventually help me, took an exceptionally long time with his order. I'm just here to pay and pick up. No problem, I'll be patient and keep waiting. Two other costumers are helped by the female counter person and finally the elder customer leaves with his order and I'm next. The young male counter person then waits for me to initiate the conversation and doesn't greet me with a smile or hello or how can I help. I brush it off. I tell him I'm here to pick up my order, a whole pig and give him my last name. He fumbles around a few seconds and then asks how to spell my name and eventually finds my ticket order and asks what time. The time is written at the top of the ticket he failed to notice. I pay for the order. He mutters someone will be out with my order and disappears. No thank you, no attentiveness like he gave the older gentleman in front of me. Again, I've been in my car with my son for over two hours from San Diego in traffic and this fella couldn't give me five minutes of courtesy. I'm waiting, and waiting and waiting while others eventually come into the store and are being helped and leaving. The older female worker at the pay counter is still there helping customers while the younger female at the deli counter is now apparently on a break and making herself lunch. She stops momentarily when a customer comes in for deli service. I'm still waiting by the counter to make sure I'm at least acknowledged but I don't see the young male counter worker who apparently left for lunch since it's now noon. The older female worker can probably see on my face that I'm not happy and says to me he's working on my order. He? Who's he? I am just here to pay and pick order between 10-11. How much time and trouble could it be to put this order together which was made two weeks prior? A different gentlemen finally arrives with three boxes and two large paper bags that comprise my order. On the way out the older female worker says goodbye and was very courteous. At this point I'm pretty upset because this is not a large haul and this order could've easily been second and not 45 minutes! I arrive home after the two hour drive back home to SD and looking forward to the meat, especially the sausages and putting it into the freezer which I cleared out in preparation for the meat. My older son is home to help. As we are sorting and placing the meat I notice that there are no sausages. It's just sausage meat but no links. I guess it's my fault for assuming and not specifying sausage links on at peat some of the order. It was a huge letdown. I had array went out to purchase rolls and buns for a bbq this weekend and to have friends and family over. Oh well. You live and you learn. At least the bacon was great.

I've had the pastrami, French dip, and meatball, all of which were great. The French rolls they use are high quality, same with the meat, and they don't skimp on portions. After tax, they come out to $17-18 if I'm not mistaken, and given the price of the chain sandwich places and the quality of ingredients they offer, I think it's great value. Staff is also very welcoming and easy to deal with. Definitely worth a try!

They have high-quality cuts of meats and a small, but nicely curated shop with delicious snacks and pantry staples. I like to come here for their picanha, priced at $19.99 a lb. Usually $20 allows me to walk out the door with two modestly sized steaks that become spectacular when they're finished on my stainless-steel pan at home. I also like their frozen meatballs in their freezer, which adds some really nice savory flavors to my spaghetti and meatballs. They have really high end cuts of meat like wagyu and Japanese A5 meats here; however, that's not really what I come looking for. Their pantry is nicely stocked with quality ingredients. It's hard to not pass up their delicious pork rinds (from 4505 or Southern Recipe) or Mutti marinaras. And if I don't feel like cooking, I can come for lunch in order to walk away with a sandwich that they can make for me. Overall, this is a small shop, that's thoughtfully stocked with some really high-quality ingredients for me to make a nice dinner at home!

I have been planning to check out the Beef Palace for years. I finally made it happen yesterday…read more I had lunch with my old buddy across the street at Fritzenkottters. Then, all full and happy, I headed across Warner, to the Mecca of meat! The cross street is Springdale. I headed inside and was quickly greeted by a friendly and professional butcher. I had first gazed at the cooler in front full of seafood. I was there for the meat. I was surprised at the size of the place, but don't let that fool you! They are the real deal at the Beef Palace. I asked for lamb fillets and he grabbed a deboned lamb roast that perfectly fit my needs. Then I asked if they stocked dinosaur ribs. He answered "sure we do!" He went to a freezer and pulled out a rack that was 24 inches square. I posted a picture to prove it. He said he could cut it into individual ribs if I wanted. Then I asked about marrow bones. I posted a picture of that monster as well. He will cut it how ever I want it. I went to pay for my lamb, and he reminded me that they are a cash only store. I am okay with that. They have an ATM if you forget. There is loads of free parking. Amazing service, amazing inventory. I will be back for those ribs and bones next week!
