This is my go-to spot when I visit my sister in Vero beach! The location is in walking distance from the ocean and has all the yummy treats you can want all in one spot. Soft serve, tacos, frozen margaritas... I mean what more do you want on a sunny weekend day? The place is always packed, but the lines always move fast. Went for the 2nd day in a row. Had mahi & pollo asado tacos and short ribs empanada yesterday. All was delicious, but the star of the show is the orange slush with vanilla soft serve. It is also amazing in the morning, which I had today along with a breakfast taco, the Bad Juan, which was delicious. I plan on getting another slush/ice cream tomorrow, especially before hurricane Nicole hits and I'll be unable to get one. The staff are super friendly and the pickup window is so cool. Waited 45 minutes for our less than average food yesterday. When I checked I. After 30 minutes to see what was happening with our order it was as if I was bothering the staff. I would gave been fine if they had set expectations when we ordered that it was going to take that long. They really need to work on their service and food quality. read more

El Sid is a really great addition to downtown Vero. The atmosphere is nice and a perfect, easy place to go for a quick meal, snack, or treat. I've been about 5 times and have tried a lot of the menu. I don't love the menu tacos - sort of bland - but every weekly special taco has been amazing. My favorite so far was a Korean taco. The guacamole is very fresh, the queso is awesome, the self serve salsas have great flavors. Each pair great with the crunchy, fresh chips. I wasn't a fan of the quesadilla (not very cheesy at all). The tortilla soup was very good but small for the price. The slushies are a MUST! The orange/vanilla flavor and coffee is awesome. Add El Sid to your rotation! It won't disappoint. read more

My rating is based on food and drink to be fair to the restaurant. Love the queso, tacos, homemade chips, & came back 2 other times for the frozen margaritas. Everything tasted SO fresh and delightful. But I would say to go into the experience without thinking you're going to have great customer service. When we went for the first time we stated that it was the first time and the gentleman manning the register just turned around and walked away from us we asked about items only to get a bored/"hurry up" type of response. had the same experience the other times we went back. Perfect spot to grab some lunch! We enjoyed our meal- it came out quickly and sat outside on the side of the building under shaded trees. While I sit in el sid awaiting my order. I notice a common trend. The last two customers who received their food were missing multiple items. A trend I have experienced first hand many times at El Sid recently. Don't get me wrong the food is really good but It's not worth the headache you'll inevitably receive from ordering food here. I have recently found myself not coming on the sole premise of insane wait times (especially when theirs barely any customers) awful service, and lack of organization from the staff. Something needs to be changed, I have seen El Sid slowly deteriorate over the past two years and it's a shame. Update on the time, a modest sized order, now waiting over 45 minutes. Barely anyone here. I think this is my last time ever ordering from el sid. I Just received my food and unfortunately from how they placed it in the bag; I will have to reconstruct my tacos when I get home and perhaps this time everything is there. I am only trying to provide constructive criticism as I am a local and support small business. But simply cannot let this go. read more

There are bowl dishes, vegetarian options, snacks and ice cream. The salsas - red or green and both home made - is amazing. So good I wanted to purchase it but the make it only for the restaurant. El Sid is a quaint eatery situated on Ocean Drive in the more touristy area in Vero Beach. I live in Vero Beach, but had not yet tried them out, so we decided to give them a try last night. We expected it to be busier than it was, on a Saturday night, but when we arrived at 6:00 the place was actually empty. We walked right in and placed our order. It took about 15 minutes to receive our order which we picked up at a food pass through created around a themed truck decor feature. When your order is ready, your name is called over an intercom system that can be a little loud at times. Choice of seating is the outside deck by the front door entrance, around the back, or inside (which offers 9 metal stools for seating). It was warm inside the restaurant, but since it had been raining, it was too humid and wet to sit outside. We both ordered the Juan Bowl with the Cajun shrimp. Our bowls contained 8 shrimp and the price was $8.50. This pricing is comparable to other restaurants serving similar food. However, we were disappointed when we looked at our receipt and discovered there was an upcharge for using our credit card to pay for our food (4%). More to the point, after inquiring about this we learned that they had just started this practice, and the only way to know this is a small sticker they placed at the top, left of their front door (above your head), and then a sticker at the base of the front of the register where you check out. Granted, they have posted the information, but placement is so discreet that no one will notice, and then will then be "surprised" when they take a close look at the receipt after paying with a credit card. This practice is not posted on their website OR printed on the menu. While I understand that passing the merchant fee onto the customer is an attempt to not raise the menu prices, most people don't readily carry cash and to avoid the fee, would have to know in advance to bring cash requiring a trip to the ATM. In turn, if you go to an ATM other than your particular bank, you may also be charged a fee at the ATM machine. I think El Sid has made the wrong decision with this move. I find it to be a complete turn off. Passing the merchant fee onto customers is not a common restaurant practice although I have seen this cropping up just recently and specifically at local, family-owned restaurants. I realize the base cost of food ingredients has increased, but if prices went up by .25 to .50 cents an entree on the menu, I don't think that would keep people away. Either way the customer is paying more money, but the processing fee is a "negative" experience leaving customers feeling nickeled and dimed. Right now, folks are either not going to come because getting cash ahead of their visit is inconvenient, or they are not going to come back because they will realize after the fact that they are getting hit with a processing fee for using a credit card. This practice needs to be added to the website and to the menu, and I might even suggest having the cashier ASK the customer if they would prefer to pay cash to avoid the 4% credit card processing fee to ensure full disclosure up front. We enjoyed our Juan bowls, but it is likely we won't be back anytime soon because we don't care to pay a processing fee anywhere to purchase our food and having to swing by the ATM machine beforehand is just too inconvenient. read more

I have been a loyal El Sid customer for years and think the tacos are some of the best in the area. I love the tacos and recommend to all my friends because the quality has been consistent and the food is always fresh. You truly haven't had "house made" chips until you try the ones at El Sid. Their red and green salsas are also amazing, although the bottles on the counter are often almost empty and not maintained. All this is great, however - my recent experience was less than satisfactory. The staff at the registers were distracted and unfriendly. None of them looked customers in the eye, and I felt like I was inconveniencing them by placing an order. No greeting, hardly a thank you. I was also disappointed with the orange slushee. The flavor was a lot less "orange-y" than typical, maybe just a bad batch. Overall, I recommend everyone try, as the food is great. But I hope my next visit is a little more hospitable. read more

Carnitas was dry, the fish taco was fishy, I didn't even finish it. The WTF taco was really good. I asked for no onions and they put onions on it...the carnitas just wasn't cooked like carnitas so I don't think you should call it that... Only frozen and pre-mixed margs. Lots of people were in and out grabbing ice cream and tacos. We tried a pork bowl and chicken and beef tacos. Not the best in the world, but definitely hit the spot and are worth a return. We'd never eaten here before. With the COVID pandemic still running rampant, we choose not to eat in restaurants but to order takeout. Same here. I ordered two " gringo " tacos and a quesadilla. My wife ordered the taco salad. We both ordered regular sized iced coffee. Our bill was nearly $50.00 which was a shock. When we arrived home, I discovered the tacos were quite small and not particularly tasty. The quesadilla was not remarkable at all. My wife's salad was nothing special. We decided the entire meal was poorly prepared and grossly overpriced! The saving grace was the iced coffee. This place is located on the Island which may account for the high prices, but not the poor quality food. We've learned our lesson. El Sid is crossed off our list of good places to eat. I am not a huge fan of Mexican food but this spot take a different approach from your standard Mexican fare. Have tried a number of selections and all are great and best part unique. Selection of ingredients and how mixed are something you need to try - Suggest the Bad Juan for breakfast and the You Juan Bowl for dinner - you will not be disappointed. My husband and I eat here every time we do the Vero Beach. We love everything here. We're from Texas and I'm Hispanic and these tacos are the closest to what we had in Texas. I'm reading these reviews and am so confused as to why people are complaining about the size of the taco or consistency of the shell? This place is amazing! Unlike other establishments, El Sid uses fresh ingredients and you can taste the difference when you bite into their food. The portions are a decent size, the customer service is 5/5, and the fact that it is in a beach town only makes it 10x better. I decided to try El Sid out on my anniversary night. I'm so glad I did. I ordered the 1 steak, 1 pork, 1 chicken, 1 JJ & 2Gringo taco with Queso, and an empanada (delicious). We shared the meal and loved it. This is a scratch kitchen and a restaurant that you can tell takes pride in their food. I think it's much better than Taco Dive (across the bridge... awful management and sub par food). El Sid is a little beach gem! If a small dining space isn't your cup of tea, take your food home, to the beach or eat outside on their tables. There's additional seating outside. They also have slushy margaritas. It's a must try with your meal. 10/10 would recommend. It's my new fav go-to-local Vero spot. I can't post pics bc I ate everything... whoops.
