    Tacos, Gordita, Gringa
    A H.

I REALLY wanted to like this taco spot. It was my first time, I ordered a lot.... chicken, carnitas and goat tacos along with a Gringa and Gordita. My order was ready a bit quicker than expected, only took a few minutes. When I got home and bit into each item. The meat was dry and/or tough and the fried items were tough as well. It was to the point I only ate a bite out of each and had to toss the rest (which I hate doing and is not something I often consider). It seemed like these ingredients had been sitting out for a bit before being assembled Unfortunately, I didn't feel too hot the following day either. So disappointed cause I wanted to like this place and enjoy at least one of the items.

Chorizo-Campenchano and the Shredded Beef tacos

If I ever leave Texas, I will absolutely miss the abundance of taco trucks at gas stations. I needed to refill my gas tank and figured I would grab a few tacos for lunch, while I did. This place accepts cash or Venmo (and they have the Cash App). They were sold out of the Al Pastor, which is normally my go-to. I opted for the Chorizo-Campenchano and the Shredded Beef tacos. They served the tacos with a green (I think vinegar-based) sauce and fresh limes. The tacos were delicious - I was partial to the shredded beef. They had other menu items, likes tortas and quesadillas. Great little spot.

    Pastor tacos!!

I had the pastor tacos and they were DELICIOUS, three people ate and had a drink for $16, can't beat that!! Obviously there is no ambiance, you're in a carwash parking lot, just go for the food. I was going to go today too, but blegh, the mist removes people's ability to drive. Hasta martes, el Super Taco!

As soon as you walk up you can tell it should be good by the smell. The flour taco sizes are smaller in size (maybe the same size or slightly larger than a corn tortilla) but hey, it's only $1.50/taco. I'd have to that's decently cheap compared to other trailers - $3/taco?what? I also took them up on the chopped onion and cilantro (they keep it finely chopped raw and not cooked so adds a nice touch). Al Pastor Taco - had to try this based on the reviews. Not too bad. Good spice and sweet flavor at the same time. Not the best I've ever had though. Desebrada Res Taco - had to google this one before I ordered. To my knowledge it's just shredded beef...? Either way this was good and tender. ? Taco - for some reason I got an extra taco, tasted like beef. It was not my favorite - the meat wasn't really tender and it tasted a little bland. Maybe you can figure it out by my pic. Egg & Chorizo breakfast Taco - nice and greeeasy. They give a good amount of chorizo to egg ratio (meaning more chorizo than egg). Al Pastor Torta - the torta bread was nice and soft so it mashed well, at the same time it was nice and toasted on the outside. It comes with a good amount of cheese, lettuce, and what seemed to be a mayo based sauce. I do wish there was more el pastor filling because everything else seemed to overpower it. One tip: If you're like me and rarely carry cash, keep in mind this is cash only - unless you want to drive to the closest ATM and back :/.

Yelpers you have done it again! You have led me to the honey hole of tacos, this place is delicious. I would give it 5 stars but have only been there once. I am sure once i try more of their menu it will give them the extra star. I ordered 3 of the pastor tacos (Mmmmm) they were delicious. Served on corn or flour tortillas, with celantro, and onions, pieces of grilled pineapple, and a lime wedge. They also give you a choice of green salsa(mild) or Red salsa(Hot). The green had good flavor but the red was a little to hot for me. The red tastes good but the heat sneaks up on you. The food was good, the service was quick and good, but the best part...3 pastor tacos for $4.50! You can't get fast food cheaper than that. This place tastes better and is cheaper, what a deal!!! Give them a try you won't regret it.

TacoQuest2016 at El Super Taco Jazzone and I recently went to a truckeria right in our own neighborhood that our friend Sheneneh recommend to us. It's on E. Oltorf near Burton in the parking lot of an old car wash. Pay attention or you'll pass it up and miss out. They have all the things we both need so much now just to get through our week. The barbacoa and the al pastor were good, tender and juicy without being greasy or fatty and the pastor has a little spice to it as well. The corn and flour tortillas did more than just hold it all together, they were tasty and had a great texture. We've had a lot of average tortillas lately and this was a nice change. The tacos come with cilantro and onions as they should and there are there are also pickled  jalapeños, and onions as well as onions pickled with what I think is habaneros. The Bang vs. Buck measure is favorable as these are some of the most affordable tacos we've had and although they aren't very big, we've certainly paid more money for less taco. Everything combines to give this place a solid B and an an easy $ for price. El Super Taco opens late in the afternoon and gets busy quickly so if you're in the area you may want to check them out. #TheTACOnnoisseurs, #TacoQuest2016, #bestfoodaustin, #Austintacos, #tacotuesday,#truckeria, #tacos, #texmonthly @Caruso4510, @Jazzone

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk). Landlords want the land to build new high density apartment buildings. * * * Double Waah. The Bouldin Creek Food Park is still around. Bouldin Creek Food Park is probably the worst of the traditional First Street food courts. It is the northernmost of the First Street food courts - the one nearest to Palmer Auditorium and downtown. It is on a teeny tiny strip of land between First Street itself and the gulch of East Bouldin Creek. The lot is too narrow and oddly shaped to permit high density development. So the landlords are going to leave this place alone. Just as there is precious little room for development, There is also precious little room for the food trucks and the parking. So simply from lack of space, the customers sit practically on First Street itself. The eating tables get the full blast of First Street traffic. The eaters get the noise and the carbon monoxide. They also get the uncompromising blast of the Austin summer sun There is one exception to the rule. If you look carefully, you will find exactly one table in the back that is rustic, quiet and pretty. The East Bouldin Creek Gulch runs there. The gulch has lots of shade and really nice rock cliffs. Picnic heaven? No such luck. The back is where they dump the detritus and spare junk from the food trucks. The back has pallets, framing and extra plastic bottles the carts don't have room for. You are in a eating in a trash pile, a shady trash pile but still a trash pile. * * * Life gets more interesting if you have to go to the bathroom. The bathroom literally is a porta-potty. To be fair, they empty it frequently, so it is not too gross. However, there is no running water to wash your hands after you do your business. Not being able to wash your hands is not great if you intend to eat food afterwards. * * * If the food trucks were absolutely marvelous, one might tolerate the bad location and set-up. The trucks they have are run of the mill. Dawa is better than run of the mill. The rest are ho hum. All of these trucks would be more pleasant in a nicer location. Mueller for example would be a huge promotion for any of them. If you have a food truck you adore, and Bouldin Creek is where it happens to be, all power to you. Enjoy your meal. Enjoy watching the cars drive by. Be sure to go to the bathroom before you leave the house.

The clientele is working class but the room feels middle class all the way. By day the place gets tons of sunlight making it a cheery happy place. By night, there are colorful neon lights to keep the festive spirit alive. * * * The house specialty is Mezcal cocktails. They make no fewer than 10 of them. I have not seen any of these in any list of house drinks I have ever seen. Even though the establishment is called Mezcal and Salt, They only stock three kinds of Mezcal. I will make two ignorant guesses: a) Those three Mezcals are chosen because they have different tastes. The house cocktails use each of the three for specific purposes in making specific drinks. b) Those house Mezcal drinks are probably wonderful. The waitress bubbled enthusiastically about one of her favorites. I don't think she was giving a canned sales spiel. I think she meant it and she loves the drink. * * * There would be no reason for waitresses at Mezcal and Salt to ever need to give canned sales spiels. The establishment draws large crowds. At 3:30 pm on a Sunday towards the end of the Almeurzo del Domingo rush, there were still plenty of people in the restaurant. More importantly, new customers kept coming in. There is a giant vacant lot next to the restaurant with signs marking the lot as extra parking. A restaurant only buys a next door lot for parking if they really need it. * * * I was food only that day. What I had was a mix - but a mix that was good enough to make it easily worthwhile to come back. My chips and salsa were perfectly adequate but no great shakes. My ceviche tostada started as being no great shakes. But they had lime and bottled Salsa Victoria on the table. They had the lime and Salsa Victoria on the table for a reason. Once you put lime and Salsa Victoria on the tostada The tostada went from ho hum to great eating. I went from bored to in love. You don't blame a Southern restaurant for putting salt and pepper on your table and serving you under-salted food. You put on your own salt and pepper and then everything is perfect. The same applies with lime and Salsa Victoria here. It is part of the kitchen's plan. * * * I totally want to come back on an occasion when I can dig into those Mezcal drinks. Since I would have a long drive home, The rest of the plan would be eating my way through a decent chunk of their menu. * * * Any place that needs two parking lots to hold all their customers has to be taken seriously.
