Best Chicken Torta on this planet. I drive over a dozen miles each way to this gem for decades now. Went there recently, I hadn't been here in 7 or 8 years. Tony remembered me and my name, as soon as I walked up. Greeted me with a warm welcome(he was just closing early for the day, but insisted i come in). Then he rattled back my usual order exactly. My wife and I decided to randomly eat at nearby restaurant that we have not tried and with a name like Guacamole's we had to try it this one and wow let me tell you their food was very good their beans tasted just like ma makes, I had a weird combo of food but it rocked, 1 tostada mixta tasted awesome, Huevos rancheros tasted very good but I never like green or red peppers on my rancheros I'm not use to it made that way but the rice and beans rocked and I also ordered a Liquado de fresa it was big an delish "they have other fruits" my wife got a burrito de asada she said it was good. I held it at first with two hands, my knee steadying the steering wheel. It was like I'd just won an Oscar. The aroma was intoxicating and I could hardly contain myself. I was distracted by anticipation as I looked at the pock marks of burned blisters on the tortilla that protected my treasure. I found this place by accident or rather by chance. If you're not from the area well then you'd end up here either by force or maybe if you'd heard about it on Yelp. It's always the places you least expect or maybe it's the places you're most reluctant to try that surprise you the most. This little, dare I say, restaurant, is located in a half residential, half industrial neighborhood in Pico Rivera. My navigation system pointed out a restaurant less than a mile away and with a name like Guacamole's Taqueria I could hardly pass it up. The small store front restaurant can accommodate approximately 25 patrons, not including a patio. When I arrived at 12 noon on a Friday they had 5 seated and I was one of 3 to-go orders. I ordered the carnitas burrito, although not a regular dietary supplement it is one of my favorite to-go items. It was one of the best burritos I have had in some time. The meat was slightly crispy and very tender. The beans were just the right mix of heart clogging goodness and the tortilla, well let's us just say there wasn't a Mission bag anywhere on the premises. I have not tried anything else, but the patrons that were opting for eating in sure seemed to enjoy their fare. I would go out of my way for this place, but if I went with someone else I'd surely choose wisely because this is not haute cuisine, but it sure is delicious. read more

After a long drive to Covina on a Wednesday morning and a quick drive back down taking Puente/Workman Mill, I found myself on my way back to work...famished! Yelp, did you know that you're my best friend? LOL Pulling up to Guacamole's, you'll notice that it's located in a very secluded area of Pico Rivera, smack between two very boulevards. There is no parking in front of the restaurant, as is clearly marked by the street sign in spite of a non-marked curb. There is parking in rear. Walking up to the restaurant, you'll be able to enter from the front of the establishment, or when approaching from the rear parking, you'll enter by way of the side patio area. I didn't notice, but there are like 6 tables outside. As you enter the main dining area, I concur, it does feel like you are still in a patio area! All in all, both dining areas were clean, but would you expect otherwise at 9:00a.m? There were four ladies working that morning...not exactly at a hasten pace either. Only one spoke broken English. the others, non whatsoever. The lady who finally helped me (the one who spoke broken English) barely understood my order, but she did get it right: 3 Chorizo & Egg Burritos with everything and 1 Lengua Burrito with everything. I waited about 10 minutes from the time of payment to receiving my to-go order. They give you a tiny bag of chips with your order and two types of salsa, one seemed to be chipotle (was actually really flavorful and hot) and the other more pico de gallo. I could not wait to eat with my coworkers so I busted out that burro while on my way to work. The burrito was average sized, not as big as a burrito from Alberto's. There was barely any chorizo and more egg. A lot of rice and beans. Salsa in the burrito was not spread evenly and was mostly on one side, and sparsely. They chopped up the chorizo with the skin casing, so as you would imagine, many bites consisted of chewy sausage skin! On the other hand, my brother had the lengua and it looked pretty yum. The tongue meat was actually shredded instead of chunky. He said it was really tasty. I would like to give them another chance sometime in the future. Problem with working in Montebello is, there's a Mexican restaurant/taqueria on just about every corner! LOL! I do not find myself driving that far for good Mexican food. I used to come here so much when I went to North Park middle school. Now coming back as an adult I'm glad that nothing has changed. Amazing prices and quality food for not having a chef so early in the morning. Three women ran the restaurant while I was there and they offered amazing service. I ordered a special order of 3 eggs rice and beans(beans was no charge) and a water bottle for all of 4$!. Is that a steal or what? Even though I didn't speak Spanish they worked with me to get everything I wanted which I was truly grateful for, over all great staff and decent food.
