Worst experience ever! Made a phone order for 8 breakfast burritos. Egg and potatoes bacon ham and chorizo. No onions no cilantro no salsa. I got there waited one hour for my order. Once I got my order took it home they all had potatoes that got cooked with onions tomatoes and jalapeños. Been going to TDM for years, since the 90's. It is the spot to get grub to go if your are craving a huge burrito or chimichanga. The past usual is "carne asada burrito, w/ everything, mild" then I ask for hot sauce on the side to drench each bite of the burrito with. My new fave is the Chile Relleno burrito, since its a bit on the lighter side, but next time, I'm gonna get a Chile Relleno burrito w/ chicken or al pastor. All burritos come w/ rice & beans inside, & your choice to have "everything" (which is onions & cilantro) & choice of hot or mild sauce. Mmm oh man sounds so good I'm making myself hungry haha. My other new fav is the carne asada Chimichanga, oh man huge, & comes w/ guac & sour cream on the side too. Tip: if you order nachos, I suggest you eat it there or if you take a To-Go order of nachos, to devour it right away, it can get soggy, but still delish. Next time I'll request to have the chips separate. Was too tired to make dinner, so we called ahead tonight and had El Taco De Mexico for dinner tonight. We ordered a basic bean and cheese burrito which was large, cheesy and delicious. Others ordered a bean, rice and cheese burrito, a large burrito, and a chicken quesadilla. I couldn't believe the amount of chicken that was put inside the quesadilla, wow! This is definitely one of my favorite guilty pleasures.. Yes, it's not great, it can get very crowded, even in the wee hours of the evening, but its fast, comfort, Mexican-American food will always hold a special place in my stomach. Be forewarned, this place is not located in the best part of Oxnard. It is definitely a-hole-in-the-wall, mini-chain/ local dive that only Oxnard has. Yep, avoid the Ventura location like the plague it will give you chorro!! (look it up). Why do I like it so much if its not that great you ask? Well, it passes all of the good Mexican fast-food requirements with flying colors: Good Beans - Check Good Rice - Check (Good enough for Burritos) Good amount of Meat - Check Variety of Meat Choices including Vegetarian option - Check and Check Good Red Sauce - Check And the ability to properly wrap your burrito, regardless of the size - Super Check! Because of these and many other reasons, this place will always be my Mexican In-and-Out for burritos, and if you are ever hungry at, let's say 1:00AM in the morning, swing on by to Taco de Mexico in the Nard for a satisfying bundle of joy wrapped in a huge flower tortilla.. I'm officially a true Oxnardian now because I finally tried El Taco De Mexico by Oxnard Blvd yesterday for lunch with a friend :D I'm personally scared to go myself to El Taco De Mexico but I'm glad my friend took me to show me what's good haha We both ordered tacos and I had 1 asada, 1 lengua, 1 cabeza and 1 pastor at a price of $1.20 each plus tax. ALL OF THEM WERE JUICY AND TASTY! YUM! I liked the pastor the most and the asada the least but they were all scrumptious with onions, cilantro and hot salsa glazed on top. I also had a large horchata too for $1.70? and no complaints there (except I had to use the women's facilities a couple times the following hours because that horchata just went through me lol). Overall, great place for a cheap lunch. Next time I want to try their burritos but I'm curious to see if it competes with Jesse's El Taco De Mexico's burritos :) read more

I order carne asada burrito w/ extra cheese and chips on the side . $15 are you kidding me the meat smelled and tasted like it was from another animal not a cow ???? Wow this was a disgusting experience! Came in to use the restroom and get a quick carnitas quesadilla. First off the place did not seem very clean, and secondly, the bathrooms were unclean (which is distinctly gross in an eating establishment!). Yet the grossest part of the experience was the quesadilla. There was a very small amount of cheese in it (i have a "lack of cheese" pet peeve!!), and sooo much grease that, as I write this, i can feel grease on my hands, beard, and in my stomach. Greasy stomach feeling is sooo gross!!! If u like dirty bathrooms in dirty restaurants and wish to bathe in grease-dowsed food check this place out! U will love it! read more

Having grown up in LA I've had the pleasure of eating some of the best Mexican food around. The more of a hole in the wall it is the happier I am! Since moving to VC I've heard many of my "foodie" friends recommend TDM (see they even come so much they just abbreviate it). I jumped on the chance to come with them after a night filled with drinking to sober myself up. Upon arriving I could tell this place is a local dive, hole in the wall kind of a place, again seemed like my kind of a place! After standing in line for almost 10 minutes I was pretty much over it. I like greasy authentic Mexican food but for me this was just too "authentic tj style". Haha. Slow, hot, and more flies in a place then I've ever seen. I was so over it by the time I ordered I had lost my appetite which is hard to do when your hungover and hungry. Ordered carnitas tacos and they were blah. Totally basic in every way. I seriously can't believe all the hype about this place, I'm sure I could have caught them on a bad day but seriously for how overly hyped the locals make it I was super disappointed. What can you say about this place just straight out good. Last night I was craving a Bacon and egg burrito and I asked them if they can make one and I got the all might answer in yes I was super stroked. I been to other tdm's and they where like no just in the mornings . This place never fails their bacon and burritos are to die for. One of the best breakfast burritos out there. There seems to be a new regime that's taken over not long ago. I've seen some reviews and heard some things but reserved judgment...... until now. I went by last week to get my usual order. It was a bit busy, to be expected. I asked for an all-meat asada burrito which I've done countless times before. To say that I was disappointed when I started eating it at work is an understatement. The meat was extremely dry which I can only deduce is due to it being reheated and from the night before. Again, I've ordered the same thing many times before but never ran into anything like this before. One of the best hole in the wall places for Mexican food. This is always my "go to place" when I'm craving the real deal. The place serves up awesome asada tacos and burritos. The decor is nothing to write home about and the neighborhood would probably scare most people away even though there are much more worse places but if you really want good food, this is the place. If you want great mexican FAST food, this is definitely a great find. The Carne Asada burritos and the Al Pastor burritos are awesome. The seasoning and taste and size...perfect for the price. I'd actually give this place 3 1/2 stars...service is what dings them a little bit. Very affordable, and they're pretty quick with bringing out your order. Locale-wise, probably better for pickout and takeout than sitdown... there isn't much room there and not much to see. Service-wise, you won't expect to get any kind there. I asked for some extra hot salsa on the side and got quite a bit of attitude about it. They're not generally friendly, which is why I would lean more towards taking out. Carne Asada burritos and tacos, YES!! Decided to try something different so we tried the El Pastor tacos, bland as can be. BORING even. I didn't think it was possible but nothing special there, at all. Tried a couple sopes too but those again are probably the worst sopes I've ever seen / had. First off, let me apologize to anyone who finds this place acceptable on any level. Where to start, how about this: there was a huge amount of grease on my plate considering the tacos were startlingly thin and dry ("shredded" beef and slow roasted pork?) I mean, completely devoid of moisture and flavor, hard brown breaded(?) nuggets(?). Unsellable in my book, but recommended by the owner.The smattering of beans was gone after dipping the 3 accompanying tortilla chips in them, same with the rice. The cheapest foam plates and bendable plastic forks available. TDM is an institution! If you're from South Oxnard, chances are you were raised on TDM. (I know I have!) The menu is straightforward. Despite being El TACO de Mexico, I always opt for the burritos. I grew up on their bean and rice burritos. My order now? Carne Asada, con todo, y salsa roja. That's chopped, grilled beef, rice, beans, onions, cilantro, and hot salsa. If there's ever a day I'm not in the mood for carne, my next go to is the Chile Relleno. Same fillings as before, but with a cheese-stuffed pepper that gets coated and fried before getting stuffed into my burrito. Stuff that into my mouth and we have major stuff-ception happening. Throw on a large horchata and we are set for life. Or for dinner at least. They're open late so if you have those late night hankerings, then this shop will no doubt satiate those munchies. read more

I can't speak much for the ambiance but the food here is amazing!! My favorites are the chilaquiles, milanesa tacos, and carne asada burritos. The only other place I've found to match the chilaquiles here are some that I've had down in Mexico. The burritos here are huge and you can definitely make a meal out of it but I just can't leave here without eating chilaquiles. Now the ambiance.. probably not the most romantic place. Came here at about midnight on my way home from LA to Los Alamos. Was one of the only places open at that time. At first glance is just a hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant. The inside is not fancy and a little run down. But, the tacos were amazing and cheap, and the horchata was delicious. I prefer the lingua and cabeza. The beans were a little liquidy but still tasted great along with the rice. Would be 5 stars if the establishment was a little more clean.
