Look, if you need a quick taco and burrito fix, then this is your spot. Montgomery is limited on decent taco shop and Tex mex options so if you have high hopes then check those at the door. I ordered a carnitas burrito. It was decent. Don't expect a massive burrito resembling a pregnant dog--this is much more manageable. Taste was good and hit the spot. My wife ordered a veggie burrito that was predominantly corn with very little tomato and bell pepper--essentially a corn burrito. We gave it a shot, and it was just ok. We tried the rice and beans for sides and found them bland. Nothing really to write home about and all we can politely muster for fellow yelpers to find useful. So if you're in a hot spot and can't wait any longer because you're worried you're going to miss out on a taco or burrito then stop in. Otherwise, keep on driving! read more

The overall ambiance of this restaurant was excellent. The restaurant was clean and decorated very nicely. I especially liked the huge ceiling fan that they had. The staff was friendly and I would say that the customer service was excellent. I ordered the birria tacos which I've never had before. They were very small or more like mini tacos.They were served very fresh and hot although I expected the consommé to be more flavorful. I really couldn't taste any flavor with the consommé.I still enjoyed my food and the experience. I would probably order something besides birria tacos next time, but overall a great experience. read more

I often visit Montgomery and I have been looking at this place for a while. I got Carne Asda tacos and Elote. I never had Elote before it was pretty good i would try it again. The tacos are really good love the salsa bar and you can help yourself to as much. They charge for the fresh salsa I'm assuming .. but I'll for sure be back. We jus moved here from Southern CA and where looking for good Mexican food. The owners say they are from Southern California. Their food is authentic So Cal Mexican. Portions are good sized. The burritos are giant. They have both inside and outside dinning. They even have an app to order ahead. The owners are really nice and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. read more

I came here during lunch while visiting from out of town. The staff greeted us right away and was really friendly. I ordered 1 steak and 1 chicken taco, a chicken quesadilla, the chorizo dip and horchata for my drink. The food came out super quick. The chorizo dip was good. It had cheese and some spice to it. The steak tacos was kind of plane but the chicken taco was well marinated. The quesadilla was delicious. Finally the horchata tasted wonderful. They have a salsa bar for you dress up your food. Overall it was a positive experience. If you are looking for a Mexican restaurant this is your spot. read more

My husband and I absolutely love this place. Ever since we moved to Montgomery, I've been craving some legitimate Mexican food but I have not had much luck thus far. But we finally found El Taco Shop and this place is so delicious! I got a pork belly taco, a steak taco, and a tamale and all were so tasty. The self serve sauce and fixins was great too. My husband got a carnitas taco, steak taco, quesadilla, and horchata. He loved all his food as well. The meats were deliciously well cooked and seasoned. The tamale had great flavor. The staff were all so friendly and professional. The restaurant itself was very clean and tastefully decorated. The menu was clear and easy to follow. The prices are a steal for what you're getting. I'm also so thrilled that it's a short distance from our home. I also really appreciated how their foods were not overly complicated. I prefer a simple dish made well to an overly ambitious dish. I definitely plan on making a return trip because I'm excited to try more of their tasty looking menu items! read more

El Taco Shop has become one of my favorite places in Montgomery. I tried the campechana (steak and chorizo) and the aldilla (pork belly) tacos. I preferred the campechana over the adilla, but they were both great. I think what blew it out of the water were the toppings. The cilantro was SO fresh and the salsa was delicious. The best!!!!! If your near here go here!!!! Fresh toppings, amazing food, great prices. The staff are all friendly and helpful , the parking is private and the bathrooms are very clean. This food was so good I just can not even begin.....the shrimp taco was yummy and cooked to perfection, chorizo taco reminded me of my Guatemalan aunts breakfasts and was delicious , the chicken taco was yummy and the street corn was off the chain amazing- fresh cheese, mayo , paprika and everything amazing. I live pretty far from this place and just stopped in on my way back from Florida but I will make a trip to this place again soon. read more

Excellent burritos, tacos, and quesadillas. We had shredded beef on ours. You can get individual items or plate that includes rice and beans. Nice stop on the way to the beach. I'd recommend getting there when they open. read more

Steak nachos & 4 tacos! Very reasonably priced! Pork belly (taste like brisket) & Mexican sausage/Chorizo were THE BEST!!!! Cheese dip has just enough spice! The three best tacos traditionales I have had since leaving Texas over ten years ago. Quite possibly, the best tacos I have ever had. Perfect serving of meat, perfectly delicious warm and fresh corn tortillas. I went with Carnitas (could have eaten ten of them), Al Pastor (just enough sweet and smoky), and Azada (tender and flavorful, chopped). But the menu is wide and varied - many other taco fillings and many items aside from tacos. They feature also a salsa bar with toppings and a half dozen or so salsas. They sell, as well, a range of Mexican beverages, including horchata, bottled imported sodas, and Mexican beers. Just writing this review makes me want to get back in the car and go for round two. I'm sad, though, that I don't live in Montgomery. If you do, count this among your blessings and get on over there and make this place famous. You won't be sorry. read more

We ordered delivery from our hotel room. My husband enjoyed his tacos Burria with consommé, but my combo of taco, tamale, rice, beans and elote (Mexican corn) came with no beans and no elote! I called to let them know, they said Grubhub wouldn't deliver the missing items and said I could either come pick it up, or they could give me a refund--$3 or $4, they said. A huge disappointment! I finished my meager two items and still felt hungry, as the taco and tamale had very little meat in them. Try another Mexican place but avoid this one! read more

After growing up in Montgomery ,but spending my last 16 yrs in Los Angeles, I come back for Thanksgiving to find this amazing spot! All the tacos were tasty but I love lengua.
