This restaurant has some problems, but there are some great things about it too. For starters, the salsa that comes with the chips is great. Unlike the salsa at every other restaurant I've been to, it's actually spicy. In fact, you best be careful because it's got quite a powerful kick. The tacos and nachos are fantastic but the beans and enchiladas left something to be desired. The sweet tea was also great, but you should ask for extra ice because it is somewhat warm. The waitress wasn't very proficient with English, but she was friendly and helpful (and pretty!). You can't go home again. This restaurant was one of my wife's favorite places to eat 40 years ago when she lived in Houston. We walked in and were knocked over by the over whelming smell of Pine-Sol. More about that later. This is not the same restaurant that it was 40 years ago. The good first. This is my first time here and it was fantastic. I had the barbacoa breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, refried beans and potatoes. Both red and green sauces are very tasty. The service was fast and friendly, and the dining room very clean. This may be my new favorite Mexican breakfast place. It is as good or better than Mi Puebla and Laredo Taqueria. This was the most bizarre dining experience I can recall. The service was beyond slow, so slow that we left without getting to eat our meals. The place wasn't busy there were probably only four or five tables other than us and there were two servers working the floor. First it took probably five minutes before the server dropped off the menus and took the drink order, and she wasn't doing anything else in those five minutes but standing there looking out the window. Then it took another five minutes or so before drinks arrived, not that big of a deal, but still she wasn't doing much of anything else and there are two of them. Finally after about another ten minutes before she returned to take our order. Then the big wait started. Several other parties entered were promptly served, two parties not only got served, but they paid and left. After about thirty minutes and after discussing it with my wife I went to the register and told her that we were leaving and we wanted to pay for our drinks. She said something and then as if by some strange miracle our food appeared in the window to be taken to us. At that point she offered to give it to us in a to go container. I declined because I am not rewarding someone for such bizarre service. We ordered enchiladas so it is not a dish that required any extraordinary amount of time to prepare. I am still baffled as to why everything took so long. It was really weird and I do not plan on going back. I do not know what strange games that the wait staff is playing, but I was not rude, didn't order anything unusual, and I am not an impatient person. I have also worked in restaurants before, and I have a huge amount of sympathy for the servers. If this was my business I would be deeply concerned. My recommendation is to go someplace else if you actually expect to eat something. read more

For the price you can't beat this place. Great authentic Mexican food for really great prices. Fajitas for 2 for less than $25 that could easily feed 4. The green salsa was delicious. This place is preeety damn good. Let's start with the chips and salsa. Chunky deliciousness. I had Chicken Enchiladas Mole and hubby had the Steak Vaquero. My only minor complaint is that they boil their chicken instead of grilling it, but the Mole sauce is incredible which makes up for it. No crowd whatsoever on Friday night which is kind of weird, but we made the most of NO WAIT. This place is definitely worth a visit. read more

I eat that this Taqueria every weekend for breakfast and occasionally dinner as well. The food is excellent especially their Breakfast Burritos and breakfast plates. Their Fajitas are a great treat for dinner especially the Fajitas Mixta which is both beef, chicken, a slice of sausage and for a little more get the shrimp to top off this great meal and for the sides is the lettuce, tomato, pico de gallo, beans, and your choice of tortillas which are homemade and a great compliment to the dish. Don't go here if you want take out during the Coronavirus pandemic!!! All restaurants are supposed to be closed for dining in, but they continue to keep the dining room open. I went yesterday morning and there were groups of people eating in the dining room. If you go to pick up food for take out, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU EXTRA FOR THE TAKE OUT!!! They charged for each of the take out containers and a separate fee for taking the food away even if you're picking up the food yourself!!! Apparently, they do this all the time, not just during the pandemic and they won't take the charge off if you complain about it. They blame the computer and say it's automatic. Nowhere else I know does this, it's ridiculous. They don't even have a drive thru to serve take out properly! Stay away! read more

Best Carne Guisada I have ever had, hands down, and I've had many. My wife had the caldo de pollo and she loved it, which is not always an easy task for a woman who makes her own stock at home. The broth was homey, rich, and delicious, with fresh veggies and perfectly cooked chicken. The staff is extremely friendly, great management, and good, clean atmosphere. From the looks of this place when I walked in was not sure what was going to happen. Well first of all, it depends on what time you go to eat, my mom got the mole pollo, and got a large portion, mind you it was 1030am. We went today at 1230pm and my portion was like 1/4 of what my mom got the first time, small boy it was small. Plus the waitress didn't even come to offer refills, was choking on my food with nothing to drink. Had to drink my wife's drink. Even told her I need a refill. Easily the best breakfast tacos in the GOOF. Not much to look at, but the tortillas are classic Houston tortillas, on par with La Mexicana, Spanish Flowers, etc. The salsas are fresh and taste great. The tacos were prepared to order, not scooped out of a steam table, which is a bonus. I look forward to going back for lunch or dinner!
