Chavelas are super yummy and the food is good, but yes the service and the wait are bad. Its bad when you are waiting for a menudo and you have to ask for the condiments, tortillas and still not get everything. By the time you get the condiments your menudo is cold. I went with my husband and 2 friends. We drink 5 chabelas 1 carne asada nachos and 1 modelo. I paid 70.20. And I didnt ask why i paíd that much. Next day I call and i ask for how much I consume. They toll me 52.00 And the Manager found the receip and she said that receip said 64.00. Somenbody did charge me 70.20 and i consume 52 and she put at that register 64 dlls... What happens Please check your totals before you paid and ask how much you consume. The Manager was nice to me and she offer to give me a gift card with the diference!!! read more

My sister and I were vacationing at World mark in Indio. We were given a couple of suggestions for Mexican restaurants. We chose the wrong one. I have a theory if the nationality of the customers are the same as the type of restaurants then I trust it. WRONG. WRONG. WRONG. Oh boy was I WRONG!! The restaurant was filled with Latinos. I have no idea why any nationality would eat here. YUCK. I try to be honest with my reviews but you can go there if you want to. : () I had a shredded beef taco and a chicken enchilada. My sister had the same thing with different meats. Luckily the kids loved their food. Hamburgers and fries. The food was TASTELESS. Not a grain of 'salt' or anything. The water had more flavor. The pics are after I ate! The other option we were told to try was Mexicali Café. Next time, we will try Mexicali but I promise you El Tapatio will not see me again. I gave it a 3 star for the food , which was excellent but with only 2 tabled why our food took 30 minutes to come out of the kitchen and 3 servers who cared more about hanging by the window and talking than taking care of our table is just Bad. You would think the manager who was sitting at a table would be aware. But no!!! read more

Stopped by for breakfast with my husband, nice clean place. I had the shrimp enchiladas, they were delicious! My husband ordered the 7 mares and he said it was really good too, it certainly had a large quantity of food. This place rocks! I've been twice now and their pork tacos are 2nd to none. The first time I came I got the fajitas and they were also on point. There's lots of beer and occasionally even a mariachi band serenading everyone in the small dining room. While this isn't necessarily in the best part of town (witnessed a couple of 'deals' go down in the parking lot) I'll always stop here when I'm in the area for a few of those tasty pork tacos. We used to come here often but we got tired of always having to wait for a table and would have to wait a long time for our food. The tables are super close to each other and there is not enough room to be able to sit comfortably if you get a table instead of a booth. Not only that, you are constantly interrupted by the musicians that walk in the restaurant asking if you want them to play a song for you. I have visited the location a few times for lunch and the food is OK. I do enjoy the carne Asada torta but you can really taste the butter in the bread. The tacos of cabeza and pastor are good excellent. The lunch prices are reasonable. On occasion they may have a special on tacos (Thursday) that I would definitely consider. read more

What keeps me coming back is the food and chavelas not for the "great service". Someone who had just showed up got attended before I did. Waitress see us sitting there and no one offers to help. Chavelas are the only thing that keeps this place going, the food is actually great.... But sadly it never arrives in less than 40 minutes. Ate here today with my friend... Well I enjoyed my food! But after 51 minutes he gave up waiting for his food we tried to ask for the server many times but she ignored us, to at least not bring his order. We gave up and reminded the waitress as we payed and she gave us a half ass apology and chucked to herself.... We didn't think it was very funny. The sad, sad truth is...... First off, I had really high hopes for this place. I was raised in Indio, and a few of my friends have said this is the best Mexican spot in town. I had just never gotten around to trying it. So I stop in today with two of my buddies after work. The ambience was decent. A good sized afternoon crowd. We were looking forward to a good meal. Firstly, they messed up my buddy's burrito with the wrong choice of meat, so he had to send it back. My other friend and I received our food shortly after and began eating. The rice was definitely the best part. No complaints. The beans were so so. I've had better, but no big deal. I had their green sauce chicken enchiladas, and the chicken was bland and gamey. There was plenty of it, but it really lacked in seasoning. I only ate one of the two. It really just wasn't enjoyable. Finally, and the biggest let down of all: My buddy didn't get his burrito for the entire 30-45 minutes we were there. He had to take it to go! I'm pretty bummed, because I really wanted to like this place. Sadly, I don't think I'll be coming back. read more
