7/28/26 El Torito Grill Brea CA...Came here to do a Taco Tuesday night dinner and watch the Dodger game! They have Happy Hour appetizers starting at $6. I had the two at that price, the chicken taquitos and fried zucchini. So good! They have 4 kinds of tacos for $3 each. I had Al pastor, carnitas, and pollo. They make their own fresh tortillas in house! Excellent tacos! Love the taco toppings area! Got a refreshing refillable Mr Pibb! This restaurant is hidden and simple, but very clean inside and outside. Service here was good. Love the house made tortillas with the cinnamon butter! Great visit!

This was by far best restaurant I went to so far. They are a local business so go support them! Their staff have been so kind and accommodating. I should have asked for my waitress name but she was very sweet. I ordered the chicken fajita salad and I thought it was just like a regular salad but ordering it was a whole experience, they added the chicken in front of me in this metal bowl it was so cool. I saw someone ordered the fajita plate and I will probably get that next time. My family ordered the churros and when I tell you these are the authentic ones they are they tasted so fresh and the chocolate and caramel dips made it more AMAZING! This place is family friendly and also such a good place for a date. Definitely will come again :)

Our server, Rosa, was absolute perfection--so attentive and warm. She even invited my visiting family from out of the country to help make our tableside guacamole! Talk about an unforgettable core memory for them to take back home. The entire feast was unbelievable. We devoured the ribeye fajitas, combo fajitas, fish tacos, and filet tacos, and every single dish hit the mark. My personal favorite had to be those warm tortillas, butter, and salsa they bring out to start--and we topped the night off with a flan that was absolute heaven. Everyone was already planning our next visit before we even left the table. We'll definitely be back!

I had never even heard of an El Torito Grill before, and apparently this is the last one, and wow, it is amazing. The fresh flour tortillas alone are worth the visit. They're so good you could practically make a whole meal out of them. Three of us shared the sampler platter and it was more than enough food. We actually had leftovers, partly because we couldn't stop eating those tortillas and were completely stuffed. Our son ordered the pizza (which he mostly ignored in favor of the fries), but overall it was such a great experience. The ambiance was so fun. They have a sit-down dining area as well as a club-style bar area, which gives it such a lively vibe. And the service was awesome friendly, attentive, and just made the whole experience even better. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. Honestly, every time we go to Knott's Berry Farm, I think this is going to be our new go-to spot. So good. Five stars.

Our server, Adrian was the best!!! Super friendly and went over and beyond to make sure we had everything we wanted. I got the build your own combo - grilled fish taco w a chicken enchilada- veggies and black beans. The fish taco was the standout-soo flavorful...I really enjoyed it. Do yourself a favor and get the handmade flour tortillas!! I had a few w the salsa and after my lunch...I had one with the sweet butter for dessert-sooooooo gooood!!

I used to come to El torito grill all the time when I was a kid in the 90s, I remember thinking it was so cool because it was up on a hill, I remember it was always packed and they made homemade tortillas. I was coming to town to go Disneyland so I told my friend I wanted to come, she picked me up and we got there at 10:55am they opened at 11am so perfect timing we sat in the car and waited. We came on Tuesday January 6th,2026 we were greeted by a nice older gentleman that looked to me a manager he told us they were having a lunch buffet for $19.99 a person which is a steal the food Looked absolutely delicious but I didn't see anything I could personally eat with my dietary restrictions. We got seated In a booth and looked over the menu. The setting was just as it was all those years ago very nostalgic for me made my heart happy, the server dropped off chips and salsa as well as homemade tortillas and butter and our drinks, we ordered I got the enchilada and taco combo and my fried got a grilled chicken salad, we sat and chatted for awhile, the restaurant started to fill up with the people that worked in buildings surrounding the restaurant. The food and service were great! So happy I could come and eat here again, can't wait to come again next time I'm in town!

    DEEP-FRIED ICE CREAM

We have been here twice based on the photos. Both experiences were so vastly different. The food is always tasting delicious and hot when it comes out. This is more based on service time and the experience we had. The first time we came in was a Tuesday night and we sat inside. We had a wonderful experience with a great woman server (she had glasses - we couldn't find her name on the recipe). She made sure our waters were constantly topped off, filled our chips and tortillas, and made sure our food/experience was great. It was such a great experience we were in the mood for their deep fried ice cream and it's just as good as it sounds! This was a 5 star experience. The second time we came was a Sunday late afternoon and sat on their patio for their happy hour. The happy hour deals to amount of food is pretty good. The empanadas were delicious and we always get the queso fundido! Unfortunately, sitting on the patio is not for the faint of heart. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come greet us then another 5 minutes for our waters. I'm usually more understanding but it wasn't busy when we came in. The server was very chill and put our happy hour food on the fly for it to come out. It all came out good and tasted great. We never got our chip or tortillas refill and the tortilla didn't come until after the appetizers were finished. Then we ordered our food and it took 30-35 minutes for it to come out. We didn't experience this long of a wait for food to come out (especially without the server checking on us while we were waiting). We ended up boxing up most of our food because we lost our appetite waiting. This was a 3 star service. Overall, I think we will be choosing to sit inside from now on due to how much better the service is inside versus outside.

We had calamari, corn ribs, steak tacos, king roll, dragon roll, pork belly bowl, and everything was well-cooked and tasty. The hot sauce they give is hot, fair warning! We visited on a weekday evening for dinner and found that the restaurant had largely retained the same look and layout from its days as TAPS. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only a couple of other occupied tables during our visit. While the menu offered a variety of options, it looked limited and, more importantly, significantly overpriced. Signature rolls ranged from $24 to $26, and even a simple pork-and-rice dish was priced at $25. We ordered the Chicken Tequila Cream Pasta, the Dragon Roll, and two fish tacos. Unfortunately, this is where the experience took a disappointing turn. The Dragon Roll, despite its premium price, looked very basic, consisting mostly of rice with very little filling. The quality and presentation reminded me of sushi from a grocery store counter. The Chicken Tequila Cream Pasta was essentially chicken Alfredo with red bell peppers, served with a slice of basic buttered toast. The fish tacos were another letdown. For $16, the plate included only two small tacos with no rice, beans, or side dishes, just the tacos themselves. To make the experience even more unpleasant, there were no complimentary appetizers, such as bread or edamame, to enjoy while waiting for the meal. The food overall was underwhelming and did not justify the prices being charged. The one bright spot was the service, which was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Overall, Geisha failed to deliver the quality or value its prices suggest. Save yourself the time and money and visit virtually any other restaurant in downtown Brea instead. You'll thank me later.

However, you don't always want to feel like you're trying too hard to change your scenery, bumping you too far out of your comfort zone. The answer my friends, is the good old classic American dive bar. Now, many places like to call themselves a dive bar just because they never clean a single inch of their establishment and have seedy patrons that love to play the more than occasional 80's songs on the jukebox but don't be mistaken, a good dive bar is hard to find. Well, I happen to have found one and it's in Fullerton of all places. That's right, Fullerton, not Los Angeles, nor Hollywood nor some pop-culturally over-hyped city. What makes The Blue Door a good dive bar? First, there's earned consistency & routine. The drinks won't always be made well, or the bartender won't always be attentive but if you come a few times, you'll soon know at what time and day the drinks are made properly by knowing the schedules of the bartenders. Secondly, the drinks are stiff, the service is friendly and nobody bothers you unless you bother them. The atmosphere goes from lively and loud to quiet and solitary, again depending upon when you visit. Lastly, they're open from 6:00AM-2:00AM. This is a very casual spot if you want some decent food and drinks at a late night, but absolutely not worth waiting for over an hour.
