We went there yesterday. I used to enjoy the food but after yesterday I won't be coming back. I ordered the enchiladas special but the meat was kind of bitter like there was to much condiments, one of the enchiladas on the bottom was cold. Rice was okay. My son had the scallops and on top were three thick, I am talking almost 1/2 inch slices of zucchini. The ambience is another matter. We were seated across from the bar, which seems okay but as soon as the diner on the table directly behind us left, they cleaned the table and sat the next diners right there behind us. So there was absolutely no privacy. Noting that me and my son and the other diners were the only ones in the restaurant. We had about 3 different servers and they were not attentive at all. El Toro located in Springboro continues to be quite impressive with their service and quality of food. We dined here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. There were five us during this lunch season. We had really great fast and prompt service and served food by an hour and half. I ordered the steak quesadilla which was massive in size. Not only was the portion over the top but the steak and veggies had a lot of fresh signature flavors as always. Never disappointed with the service or the food. On Saturdays they have chicken fajitas specials that can be shared. Let's not forget about their top notch margaritas as well. It doesn't matter how busy they are, they are always attentive and patient with me as I practice my pitiful Spanish (I'm trying to learn and they are very encouraging). The restaurant has beautiful outside seating and most tables are spaces 6feet apart, which was quite nice. The waitstaff was accommodating and friendly. Our waiter Emil was super nice. I ordered fish tacos. The food looked very tasty but I have to admit that the fish tacos tasted dry. My side of squash and rice was under seasoned. My hubby ordered quesadillas and said that his dish was very tasty. Our Long Island ice Tea and Margarita had a nice kick and was really good. I was a little taken aback when I noticed that one guest was smoking at the table. She literally smoked one cigarette after another. At first, I was skeptical because of the low ratings, but as I started reading the ratings, most of the bad ones are doing the pricing. Now I think, for being in the area that we are, it's fair pricing, and they give you large amounts of food that being said we ordered a burrito which in my opinion look like a chimichanga or an enchilada. We also ordered enchiladas and chicken fajitas it wasn't bad wasn't great but the seasoning was very good. The chips and salsa might've been some of the best ones I've had in a while and this coming from a Mexican kid, now the one thing I might see is the initial service sucks, but the waiter did apologize and stated that he forgot where we sat however, he did make it up and worked very hard at that point the pink strawberry lemonade he made it himself. Might be the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. The place was empty at lunchtime, now I know why. Service was painfully slow, it was expensive for what it is, and the food was awful. I ordered a chile relleno and rice and refried beans. The "relleno" was a flat poblano chile pumped with a puddle of Velvetta-like goo, and instead of being dipped in batter and fried, it was simply wrapped with a soggy flour tortilla. The rice had an odd after taste, and the beans had a concrete-like texture and were dry. My wife had a chicken and beef taco. The beef taco used dry ground beef with little seasoning, and the chicken was stringy dark meat. Neither had more than a teaspoon of shredded cheese. For the above food, plus 2 ice teas, it was $24. I cannot totally complain about the food as it was very good! I have gone there several times and always had a good experience. The last time I went there, though, something odd happened. When the waiter brought my bill to me he apologized saying it was higher this time than when he had waited on me in the past?? The menu prices were the same, but the check was 3 dollars more than in the past as I always get the same thing--Shrimp Fajitas and a Jumbo Margarita. I always enjoyed going there in the past especially after a rough week. I fought flies even though I was eating inside. Why weren't the menus updated to show the new prices? Go to El Rancho Grande in Centerville. Stoped at El Toro based on convenience, ordered a Michelada (simple drink), and I was never able to get my carry out order in. After 15 minutes, and 3 servers/bartenders individually working on my drink but left to serve tables, nothing. No manager in sight, but fully staffed. Our first waiter (yes, I said first) came and took my drink order while I waited for the rest of the party, after they arrived it took a few minutes for him to comeback. After about 5 minutes, he came back and asked if we were ready, he said to give us a few more minutes since we were still looking at the menu. After 20 minutes, I decided to look for the waiter, the restaurant was empty and it looked like we were the only ones in the whole place. I was able to find someone and asked for our waiter, then with in a few minutes a different person came to take our order. The guy seemed new and wasn't really knowledgeable about the menu. We placed our order and finally got our first refills. After about 25 more minutes we finally got our food, which seemed like a very long time since we were the only people in the restaurant. I had the lunch carnitas, which is what I normally get when I've been to other El Toro locations. The meat was tender and some parts were nice and crispy, the beans and rice were good. The green tomatillo sauce is always delicious. Sad to say but no one ever came to ask us about refills until they brought the bill. We believe in supporting our local restaurants. Our door dash driver has been sitting in the parking lot for well over an hour. We placed our order at 12:30 for a 5:30 delivery. It's now almost 7pm and we have no food. We understand that these are challenging times. However if you are taking preorders, one would think management could prioritize, lead, produce and deliver accordingly. This establishment is being managed poorly. Very disappointed. Went to get a dinner and and ice cream with my son. it was supposed to be an easy and quick visit. His ice cream was served, and I couldn't get anyone to tell me where my food was for 30 minutes! By the time I got my food, we had been there for 40 minutes and we had to leave.
