Amazing. Come on a Tuesday right when they opened and was surprised by the amount of cars in the parking lot. They opened at 11, I was sitting in a busy restaurant at 11:22. I had a male server with a tree setting half sleeve tattooed on him who took really good care of me and checked in often. I ordered the steak fajita quesadilla and they did not disappoint. It was fully loaded and more than enough for two meals. The chips were cold and I prefer a warm chip from a Mexican restaurant but 10/10 experience for my first time and I will be back tomorrow. read more

I do not eat red meat, so it's not like this was something that I could eat instead, scrape off the incorrect topping, etc. I had ordered delivery through grubhub, and they would not refund the incorrect item. Im a fan for good Mexican restaurant. But not this one... After my family ordered along with me. Their drinks have already arrive. But not mine. Once our food came my order was wring. I got a Large Steak Quesadilla with fries. Out came a SMALL quesadilla not a LARGE quesadilla. Then when I opened my small quesadilla up. There was tiny little chucks of steak instead up strips of cut up steak. So a family member of mine ordered me another small quesadilla which is the equivalent to a large. We ended up walking out because we felt she was rude and didn't really want to work or be there until they closed at 10. Soooooooo much salt!! If you have high blood pressure or you just don't want your food saturated in salt think twice about going here! We had fundido con Queso y chorizo and chimichanga. Both were wayyy overly salted. Also the chimichanga was small and prefab, not a home made one. I was disappointed. I am still giving 3 stars however because our waiter was terrific and the restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere. If you go make sure and ask for no salt and then add your own on. read more

Stopped in for lunch with my kids and their spouses, on our way to an afternoon wedding. It was a great choice, with outdoor seating, excellent service and very good food. I had the chicken burrito, and would order it again. Good choice of draft beers, as well as signature drinks. Prices were decent. Hidden Mexican food gem! Went there with my friend who recommended it. The food was amazing you get a huge portion! The food there is a little pricier but so worth it! I tried this location after having food at a location in Columbus about a month ago. The location in Columbus was so good that I started to crave el vaquero again and the location in Franklin was the closest to me. Oh boy how disappointing... the quality of the ingredients and execution of the plates was far less than that of Columbus. The chile relleno recipe was SO different, and so disgusting at this location I didn't even want to eat it. The sauce was just plain unseasoned canned tomato sauce. Do not recommend. read more

Another unfinished review that must be submitted!! I had my usual while here, a chicken chimichanga. The food comes out so quickly, you wonder if they are reading your mind, or just have a bunch of stuff ready to be reheated. The food is filling, and you can't say you don't get enough food to eat. I also had the Suprema Margarita, which meant it was made with better ingredients. I've been here a few times, and it's a reliable place to have some food. The chips and salsa are decent, but not spectacular. I like the booths there, which is always a plus for a restaurant in my opinion. read more

I am working nearby this week, and El Vaquero is across the street from my hotel. The chicken lettuce wraps are on the appetizer menu, but I chose it as my meal. I really liked the food! I do have two suggestions, though: it needed sour cream to calm down the salt. Because I ordered delivery, I could not ask for sour cream after I tried it. Second: this is a build-it-yourself appetizer, which is fun! But, it's also messy. I was in a hotel without access to paper goods, and all the meal came with was a wrapped (single) napkin with plastic ware and salt and pepper. I would go back! This place seems to be a little pricy for Mexican food. No real complaints other than the service was slow but it was a Friday night and we had a big party. There were only 2 of us and our waiter then took our drink order after about 10 minutes of us sitting down. Drinks came out fast but the waiter still hadn't taken our food order after 40 minutes of us receiving our drinks.. Keep in mind it isn't packed at all. After waiting that long we didn't know if they had forgotten about us or not.. Our waiter then came back and asked us if we were ready to order. Ridiculous wait time for them not being busy. All the other places I have been in this area have no idea what nachos are. Fajita nachos are the bomb. Lots and lots of great flavor. A very diverse menu that includes vegetarian as well as the usual beef, chicken, pork selections. Also, this place has my favorite queso. The white queso with chilis. Service was great, glass was never empty. Restaurant is very clean. Ya gotta try this place if you like Mexican food. Got a chicken fajita-quesadilla and my buddy got a chicken burrito.
