I never leave reviews but if I could give negative stars tonight, I would. My boyfriend and I came to this new location to give it a try about a month ago, it's about 5 miles closer than the one in West Carrollton/Miamisburg, which always does an awesome job, by the way (so go there!!!) It looked like a pretty slow night so we didn't think it'd take very long. He ordered a burrito with no guacamole, just lettuce. After waiting for over 20 minutes and not being checked on, the food finally came, only to find guacamole inside his burrito. The waitress was very apologetic and fixed it right away but we were still just a little bit agitated with how the night went. Tonight, we decided to give it another try and we will NEVER be back. We will for sure be driving the extra few minutes to go to the other location close by. It was another very slow night, maybe 8 families there, but our waitress was very slow and not friendly at all. My boyfriend ordered the same thing as last time, a burrito with no guacamole, just the meat and lettuce. Our food came out in a fairly timely manner, however, his burrito again had guacamole inside. We told the waitress and she kind of huffed under her breath and said "well I told them" and took the plate to fix it. Meanwhile, I'm waiting to eat with him and my food is getting cold. The owner of the franchise came over and asked if I wanted a box for mine since I had a whole plate and wasn't eating. I said no, we actually haven't started eating yet because my boyfriend's was messed up and I was waiting for him. He walked to the back where we thought he was going to make sure we were being taken care of in some way. When the burrito came back out, all it had on it was the meat. We asked for a small plate of lettuce since the waitress failed to listen and she huffed under her breath as if it were a hassle. The rice that he previously started eating had been reheated up and was noticeably burnt, instead of giving him new, fresh rice. After we were finished eating, we received our bill and everything was full price. The owner was at the register to cash us out. He asked if everything went okay. I said no, and I don't think we should have to pay full price for this and explained to him that they messed up the same exact way a month ago and now twice tonight and my food was cold by the time we were able to enjoy a meal together. He shrugged his shoulders, smirked and ran our bank card through the machine. I asked him what his name was and he replied with "why?" I told him because I was going to call corporate. He then rambled off his uncommon, Mexican name as fast as he could and when I asked him to write it down he refused and his employee that was standing beside him began to laugh while he just stood there smirking at me. I have never been so disrespected by a "professional" of any kind and will be calling corporate first thing in the morning. They were closed when I tried calling this evening. I've been trying all the wrong restaurants and this place is no exception. After living in San Antonio for a number of years I know authentic Mexican. This place is horrible and I shall not return. As for covid-19 practices they have plastic screen barriers between the booths which is good. However, the manager was setting a very bad example for his employees by wearing is mask loosely and not having it covering his nose. Therefore a great deal of his employees followed his example. You have to cover your mouth and nose!!! No exceptions when handing food or getting close to people. read more

Best chain Mexican Restaurant in the area. Had the chicken soup. It has good size vegetables and plenty of chicken. Served with half an avocado, pico, lime with 3 fresh tortillas and fresh mole salsa. It hit the spot on this cold day! read more

Hate to do this but I recommend driving on by this place. Stopped in tonight for the first time. It was a little before 5 and not very busy. I went into the bar area and 2 people were in there eating. I sat at the bar for 8 minutes....no baRtender in sight. A couple of employees walked by and said nothing. Normally I would wait a little longer but I wasn't in the mood to put up with crap like this tonight so I left. It's too bad because I live in Austin Landing and wanted a good Mexican joint to be close besides Chuy's. This is definitely not the place! I wish them luck. They will need it! read more

I've been to this location a lot. Before the virus I had no complaints but this last meal was a joke. Since there was no choice but Carry out we ordered the the food over the phone then when we pick it up and got it home it was very disappointing. My meal was flat wrong and another one was about as dry as a bag of popcorn. To top it off since we were allowed to have margaritas to go (which is nice) they are nice enough to fill the cups half full. So you pay for a full one but you get half. Not impressed anymore. Good food. Great service... except for the end. My bf got a burrito meal. Barely ate any of it except a few bites and wanted to save the rest for later. Got a to go box. Forgot it when we left. I remembered once we got to the car that he left it. I went back in to get the food and the table was already cleared off. All the workers had to say was "sorry". Don't you think they should have offered to remake it since basically the whole meal got thrown away on accident?? Smh. But good food. Hopefully next time all the food will be eaten while at the restaurant ha. read more

Heard about the $1 taco Tuesday so my fiancé and i decided to give it a try. We were seated almost immediately and chips and salsa got to the table before we did! The place was bustling with staff so it wouldn't have been hard to flag one down but that wasn't necessary since our server was very attentive. Food came out fairly quick. Tacos were delicious. We both ordered an extra side of beans and rice but they literally fill up half a plate of each so we could've been fine sharing one plate of the rice and beans. Overall great experience. read more

The best damn margarita I have ever had even after spending 15 years in Arizona and countless days in Mexico! Pache, our server, made the sweet n sour mix from fresh fruit and finished it owith Cuervo 1800 on the rocks. And, for dinner......Baja Shrimp Tacos with their special Baja sauce. The atmosphere is nice. The staff is friendly. Service is a little slow and disorganized. They tried to give our order to the table behind use. Then they tried to give them someone else's order. We both ordered fajitas which had decent flavor, but the was an excessive amount of oil used to sauté the onions. There was a puddle in the bottom of both skillets. Stopped here once since we were close, been to a couple of their other locations and wasn't impressed. Ordered margarita, happy hour 20 oz for $7!! Chips and salsa brought to table both were excellent, chips warm and the salsa was fresh. Looked on menu and ordered the pollo loco it was awesome. Well I ordered the fajitas for two. Two of those dinners and they gave me one instead. They tried to pack the two dinners in one container and say it was the two dinners when the one container was the one dinner so I didn't get the second one I paid for. I love El Toro, so we thought we would try the new location in Springboro. As we were told to wait 10-15 min for a table, 15 min rolled around and I counted at least 12 open tables(that I could see from where I was standing) that no one was being seated. People kept coming in and being told the same time as no one was being sat. I didn't stay long enough to even be sat. If you are going to tell people a waiting time and give them a pager, don't have open tables! Ridiculous! read more

We stopped by there the other evening. Instead of being greeted at the door we were rudely told that the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes. So we could stay if we wanted drinks and chips. I also mentioned the flagless flagpole our front of the building. the hostess told me they don't have one and "you are like the fifth person" to ask about a flag, and that question was "so annoying." We really like the food here and the prices are reasonable. They don't always answer their phone, though, so there are several times we wanted Mexican but ended up at China Cottage instead. Also, we've gotten home only to find our order has been screwed up. And as someone with multiple food allergies, that means I don't get to eat. El Toro Bellbrook is much better, if you don't mind the extra drive. And even the El Toro across from the Dayton Mall is much better. read more

Very predictable. If you've eaten at any of the other Mexican places SW Ohio that get their food off of the Sysco truck, you've already essentially eaten at El Toro. Same chips with same bland salsa. Refried beans that were left in a blender too long. Yada yada yada. Chicken has no flavor. Oh wait, I have a positive: COLD Negro Modelo on draft. That was the highlight of the meal. Let me start by saying that I'm from the Southwest, and since I've moved to Ohio I've had a very difficult time finding a good Mexican food restaurant. I can usually tell by the quality of chips what the rest of the meal will be like, and that's where my disappointment started with El Toro. The chips were like the cheapest corn chips you can buy at the grocery store. My husband ordered a quesadilla and said it was pretty good. I ordered the enchilada/taco combo and didn't get the same result. I requested shredded beef for an extra charge but received ground beef. It tasted like something I could get at Taco Bell. I substituted fried beans for the rice, which were grey and runny. The iced tea and service were good, but that was about it. If you haven't had authentic Mexican food, this may be an ok place for you. If you're looking for the real deal, pass on El Toro. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Food was awful, flies were everywhere and the bathroom floor was soaked in puddles in which I can only hope was from mopping the floors. Diego the manager told me how wrong I was about the "specials" for that day. Ordered chicken fajitas because when I walked in the board read "today's specials" chicken fajitas.. when we were told they would be full price by our server, she proceeded to get Diego who proceeded to tell me that was yesterday's special. No where on the board did it say it was "Saturday's special". Informed me that there were 14 other stores in the area and it didn't matter that he was losing my business. If Diego cared about the success of El Toro, he would have done his best to make a dissatisfied customer happy. I hope his general manager reads this and explains the importance of customer service to Diego. My family and I will NOT ever be back. read more

Went there late Saturday afternoon after playing golf. Sat at the bar, waitress was helpful and checked in my throughout the meal. Texas margarita was pre-mixed so I don't know what tequila was used or if it had Grand Marnier. Food was ok, the chili con queso was really good. Chips and salsa were bland. read more

This is my second time at this location. The service is awful. Very slow and not too attentive. The beer is slightly warm and the rice on my main dish was cold. How's that happen? The main dish itself, a shrimp casadilla, was pretty good. I won't be coming back. read more

This is my first review on a local restaurant but the newly opened El Toro in Springboro OH is doing such a good job they deserve my time to write this. Have dined at El Toro in Huber Heights and Miller Lane many times and always had a great dining experience. Was visiting a friend down in Springboro and thought what the heck. I have to admit this is a newly opened restaurant that already is producing excellent Mexican cuisine. Ordered a combo plate with Chili Relleno, Enchilada, taco, beans and rice and everything on the platter was top-notch and almost better then the ones I frequent north of Dayton but definitely as good. Everything was perfect and I don't say that easily. I highly recommend this restaurant.....Great job Springboro El Toro! Keep up the good work. read more

The service is slow, I ask the server 2 times about a dish i wanted to order and he told me it was made the way i was wanting it. After 1 hour the food came out and my food was made the way i told the server that i didn't like it. After a $40.00 dinner (no tip) I left very unhappy with everything, that was my first and last meal there. read more

My husband and I went there tonight and I can't review the food because after an hour of sitting and the waiter stopping by occasionally to say they were backed up our order never came. Others around us were eating and there was no manager around. My husband had a drink, I had ice tea, I left a 10 on the table and we left. Ridiculous really and of course we won't go back. read more
