This place is amazing. It's a bit off the boardwalk, so you'll want to taxi or Uber here, but the seafood is worth it. The price is a little on the higher side for Mexico, but when you taste the food, you'll know why. They start you with a coffee cup of fish broth, try it. I'm not a fish broth person, but I finished mine real quick. Their octopus is also delightful. Definitely try everything you can here.
Ran into El Toro Güero on our way to hotel by accident. Never knew it existed and we were told this location has been around do 12 years. Looking at old photos of the exterior, it's no wonder we've passed this place up every time we've driven through. It was around evening time when we noticed their business sign -bright and vivid. We were familiar with the restaurant in Cabo so we knew the seafood would be good. We had to stop by as we were too starve to wait. We were greeted, seated and given menus immediately. A complimentary tea cup size fish broth arrived at our table; it was bland, but hot. I ordered my usual mixto civeche as my partner with her usual clams. Our food and drinks arrived in no time. While she had no complaints, unfortunately, my ceviche was not what I had expected. I figured since I liked the Toro Guero in Cabo so much, La Paz location would not disappoint. My mixto ceviche was dry and was missing seasoning. It was missing a "kick." Nonetheless, I lemoned it up and finished the entire dish without issues. Like I said, I was hungry. We returned today before our flight back home to San Diego. I wanted to try something new. The shrimp burrito was ok. Not alot of shrimp, too mushy due to guacamole and the tortilla fell apart....to heavy and wet. I used a fork to finish the rest. Staff members are attentive. I would return again and maybe try sometime different
This is a legit local joint for seafood. Located a 5-10 minute drive away from the touristy malecón center in La Paz. El Toro Güero is very popular with locals. The menu choices are numerous and varied, the seafood is very fresh, portions are large enough to share and prices are very reasonable. Lots of easy streetside parking. Ample open air dining under a huge palapa-like roof and roving mariachis during evenings. If you are searching for a great fish or seafood meal at a reasonable prices, make your way here for the real Mexican experience.
Need a new chef asap. Used to be delicious. Needed up throwing everything away. Everything tasted plain, no flavor at all.
Didn't have to walk too far from our camping area. Very good and reasonable price seafood. From fresh fish to octopus to clams and their infamous cocktails. We ordered the grilled octopus and ahi tuna with garlic sauce. The portions are huge can't fish mine. They come with shrimp soup/broth with dinner. All the condiments to your choice. Service is very fast and friendly. Very island liked place to dine.
Great restaurant! Service was great, seated us right away and only took 10 minutes for food to come! Food was absurd! Especially their shrimp stuffed potatoes. It was made perfectly aside from the cheese being a tad too heavy. Vibe was nothing to write home about. It was Mexican style but more quiet which made it calmer. This restaurant was excellent in total! I highly recommend this as a go to place for La Paz seafood restaurants!
So good! Our whole dinner was fabulous! We got mango juices and it was really good. The soup appetizer that they handed out was good too. We got the fish tacos, shrimp empanadas and coconut shrimp. The empanadas were amazing- so flavorful and crispy. The only thing that I wouldn't get again would be the fist tacos- just not that good. We would definitely come back again.
Oysters are .64!! Cheapest oysters we found but not the best, still worth it though. Clams were bomb and actually everything was amazing
It's a was meh experience. So many positive review and our friends have been here numerous times and heard nothing but great things. However, this visit with those friends were subpar. The food were overcooked, burnt and lack taste. The lobsters dish was very good and cooked well. The giant ship boat, "Fiesta de Camarones" was over battered in old oil and was mostly untouched by the end of dinner. The staff was great and services was fast.
If you ever find yourself in this magical town, make sure you come here. This spot is popular among the locals. You know it's gonna be good if the locals eat here! We had everything from the mixed seafood app, oysters, cevechi and shrimp aguachile! All heavenly.. amazing fresh salsa, they also have habanero salsa, just ask!! You can take ceviche to go for a yummy snack for later, trust me you will want some later after swimming and living life in beautiful La Paz. I will be back!! From San Diego, CA
This place is sooooo amazing. We all ordered something different and I was shocked at how delicious and fresh everything was! And in American dollars you really can't beat it or find any comparable in the states . Please head on over if you're in the area!

We wanted fish tacos and were recommended by one of the servers at our hotel to come here. I had the camarones gobernador tacos and the shrimp empanadas. They were both good. My friends ordered the fish tacos but they were kind of disappointed that they had to assemble the tacos themselves. My husband ordered and liked the aguachiles. My strawberry margarita was strong.
We were on vacation and the food was just not hitting the spot for us down at the Malecon. We needed to find out where the locals were going. We asked our taxi driver. Where can we get a variety of Mariscos (seafood) that was fresh and tasty. Thankful he shared this little gem with us, El Toro Güero! It was about a 10 to 15 minute walk from our Airbnb. It was in the middle of a residential area and surprisingly pretty large. The service was incredible, we were sat down immediately, put right in front of a large fan and cold drinks were brought to us immediately. They brought out all the tostadas, crackers, and all the condiments we would need. Our table ordered a variety of plates and we enjoyed ask the seafood and appetizers including stuffed yellow chilis and stuffed potatoes. The only thing that was terrible was the chicken plate, it was a bad choice for us to make considering it's a seafood restaurant. They also have fresh agua frescas, we had the we had the refreshing cucumber lime water, and it was not too sweet. Very delicious! Surprisingly, they also served a zero proof alcohol beer, which was unheard of as we toured the rest of the city and other restaurants. I would definitely recommend this place! I also have to say it was very affordable for all the food we tried. Service was great! Fast and friendly! read more
Dozen fresh oysters for 200 mxn pesos, you can't beat that. The entire menu had pretty much all Mexican seafood items covered. We opted for the grilled fish tacos, plain where mounds of fish are the center ingredient. At least 10 different salsas to pick from to make it your own. The empanadas was tasty- both the marlin and shrimp are sautéed in onions, peppers and cheese-cooked to order and yes they are fried! It's a must on our next trip read more

Allow me to tell you my opinion of El Toro Güero.. first off I gave the restaurant 4 stars and here is why... We were a party of 10 they sat us very quick, slapped some menus on the table and returned in 10 min to take our orders. We ordered everything from sashimi, shrimp cocktails, fish tacos, oysters, lobster, empanadas, and whole fried sea bass. Everything was tasty but the fish tacos can be better they were lacking flavor. We were told that this place is a tourist restaurant not really a place the local visit, however this does not change the quality of the food. The mix drinks were strong and delicious. I would return to this place (after finding a local favorite) and would recommend to friends. - temperature check when entering - servers were mask - restaurant / restrooms are clean - service was average - would recommend and return - if you want the best fish tacos (IMO) go to El Zarape Malecon you won't be disappointed read more

Food is really good, prices are definitely great for the fact that this is a lot of good seafood. The place is for locals, clean, simple and things are well done. The oysters needed to be colder I think. The sauce of the house was marvelous. The coconut shrimp was dreamy. The lobster was really 3 lobster tails not a full one which was not explained in the menu, flavor was good but a little bit too much spices on the sauce. I think the veggie salad was contaminated because I got sick few hours after eating there and my partner and I ate the sea food but he did not eat the salad at all. So be careful with the veggies. Pulpo Atropellado, I'll be singing your praises for days. Octopus boiled until soft enough to cut with a spoon then finished on the grill. Served over a bed of vegetables sauteed in butter: onions, bell peppers, chilis, and garlic. The rest of their food is incredible as well, and the portions are generous. read more

Seriously good seafood, local prices not tourist prices. Location is about 8-10 min. drive from the Malecon. Totally worth it to make any effort to get here! My partner & I stopped by as we were looking for somewhere to eat while waiting to get into our nearby Airbnb. What a find! We can eat alot, but the portions were so generous we had to box up some for later! The servers don't speak much English so brush up on your Duolingo Restaurant modules before visiting or use online translate. I ordered fish filet & it came with side of rice, mashed potatoes & salad. Lots of fish. So tasty. You will be served soup to start with tostadas & crackers. Also a basket of hot sauce options! As you can see from other reviews, you can order seafood in every way imaginable - ceviche, fried, breaded, etc. Cheap local beer too. This was the best value meal I had after road tripping around Baja Sur for a couple weeks. Highly recommend! read more

I ordered el toro ceviche tostada. I thought it was going to be toro fish which is jack crevalle, so I was shocked to see this in front of me. Looks like octopus, shrimp, clam, maybe scallops too. Not bad but not great. Not super fresh tasting, a little fishy. Could be better but could have been way worse. Sierra tostada just tasted like canned tuna and carrots. So many carrots it barely tasted like there wa a anything else in there. Needs more seasoning too. read more

Great local restaurant, with great seafood options. This restaurant seems to be a local hang out. Pretty much everyone that works there speaks very little English. The margaritas were delicious and so was our food. We ordered shrimp, tacos, sweet and spicy shrimp, and shrimp fajitas. I highly recommend the shrimp fajitas. The restaurant is all outdoors with a covered top, and is on one of the main streets. read more
