Food was mediocre. Came for lunch and ordered steak fajitas and chimichanga. The steak fajita dish had like 3 pieces of meat the rest consisted of rice, beans and lettuce. The chimichanga was so small buried underneath a mountain of lettuce, most of it just of the tortilla fried with very little dry chicken inside. When I asked for the drink menu the server looked at me blankly and finally brought it out. When she took our order she had forgot to come back to get my drink order which was rather annoying. I had to tell her right before she left again what I wanted. Place is nice. Decorated to par. And very clean I give them that. The worst was coming home and feeling bloated and sick after eating here. I've ate at numerous Mexican places and this has been one of the few places I've felt like this afterwards. Food was terrible and very bland. The only good thing was the slasa and chips. I ordered a beef chimichangua with no sour cream. Not only was a huge heaping of sour cream on top, but it was a little bit of beef mixed with pork and they said that's how it comes? Plus a chimichangua is deep fried and the tortilla on mine was completely soggy and gross. It wasn't even edible. I even told the waitress and she just said sorry and gave me an ice cream? Really great food. This is pretty decent Mexican food. Not too heavy or greasy which is nice. We had the fajita salad. It was really great flavor. I loved how crispy the veggies were still. The only thing was that there wasn't very much chicken on the plate. My husband had the mole enchiladas. Those were good. Not my favorite mole sauce. Beans and rice were good too. I'm from Southern California and am up here for school, so take this review from that perspective. I recently went in for lunch here and ordered the Expresso Burrito. All the ingredients appeared to be fairly fresh except for the pork itself and some of the cilantro. Regarding the pork, there's something viscerally unsatisfying about eating grey meat. It tends to evoke images of heavy processing and post-apocalyptic scifi films about soy, lint, and greens. Additionally, it was drowning in a combination of runny black beans and some watery red sauce the menu said was roja. I think, in the interest of providing a counterbalance to all these high reviews, it should be noted that in many places, it's entirely possible to get twice the quality for half the price by stopping in at a local chipotle's. This may be the best Mexican in Logan, but as the say, in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. read more

We went here because so many people are raving about it, telling us how much they love this place. Everything was too spicy for my taste. It either had red pepper flakes in it, or jalapenos or other peppers or both! And they included the pepper's seeds, which is going to pack even more heat. There were no mild alternatives. The usual chips and salsa was a dish of red and a dish of green salsa. The green had jalapenos and seeds. The red had pepper flakes. They were both very spicy. Usually, when there are two salsas, one is mild and one is medium. The dish I chose was covered in roja salsa. It was above "medium" heat, and I've eaten medium heat Mexican before. My guys will probably like the burning hot spice, so they will probably rate it better. There was no cheese or sour cream to soften the heat, so I got it full force. I got a box for it because I thought one of my sons would like it. Then I ordered a different dish and asked them not to put any of the salsa on it. It was OK, but even the refried beans, usually a bland beginner dish, was spicy hot. The service was friendly and attentive. read more

I would normally be loathe to give a single star review, but I dined here because it was so highly rated, was very disappointed despite moderate expectations, and want to save any future yelpers I can! The chips were mediocre, I've certainly had lighter. The salsa verde was okay; the regular (red) salsa was awful. The menu didn't list beverages of any kind, so I asked the waitress if they served margaritas or just sodas - not all restaurants serve alcohol. She seemed to think it was stranger for me to ask than for them not to have their offerings on a menu, but in any event, they do serve margaritas so I ordered one. They use table salt for the rim, and mix for the margarita. Just mix. OK, there might have also been alcohol, but I couldn't detect any beneath the sickeningly sweet mix. I'm not one to waste booze, and I couldn't drink more than half of it. I ordered a spinach quesadilla, and forced myself to eat it because I didn't want to revisit yelp to find another restaurant highly rated by the same folks who sent me here... Every quesadilla I've ever eaten has looked pretty much the same, a half-circle about the width of a plate cut into 4 or so pieces. This was about half that size, a small flour tortilla folded in half. 1 piece. If you love small quantities of chopped frozen spinach, this is the quesadilla for you. This is a quick-service dive posing as a restaurant. The food is not made to order, merely assembled and heated. Sure, if I had been in a hurry it would have been nice to have my meal brought to me less than 5 minutes after I ordered it, but what I would have preferred would have been fresh ingredients cooked to order. The only remotely redeeming characteristic of El Toro Viejo would have been the friendly staff, had someone not followed me into the bathroom after I paid and left the dining area, to ask if I was going to eat the rest of my food. I'm visiting Logan so don't have an alternative to suggest, but I doubt things get much worse - I recommend going anywhere else. read more

Well decorated restaurant that is able to hold a lot of people. They start you out with chips and salsa. The salsa is good and not too spicy. I got a chicken chimichanga and it was pretty good. The chimichanga wasn't really crunchy on the outside, but was moist on the inside, filled with chicken and cheese. The rice and beans were good, but not too memorable. Overall, it was good food at a fair price. If I'm ever back in Logan I would eat here again. read more

A couple months back, my manicurist native to Utah by way of Mexico City recommended I check out El Toro Viejo. Today was the day we finally tried it for lunch. First, Gabriela dined some pretty awesome green chicken enchiladas our way. She was a lovely server! Even at the noon hour it was pretty busy, but we were seated quickly. For around $8 we each had a huge plate of mild green chile bathing two perfect chicken enchiladas. The shredded chicken was juicy and not too salty. I liked the red rice with some delicious pinto beans. Second, the decor is a jumble of southwestern colors and visuals like Frida Kahlo and turquoise walls. It's a welcomed look not often seen in Logan which why I think you should check out El Toro Viejo. It was a lot of food but made for plenty of time to catch up and to eat.
