This restaurant was referred to us by two different Uber drivers. I ordered the Chuletas Can Can which is a GIANT piece of pork fried to a crisp. It came with beans, rice and some salad (for healthy measure). We also ordered a side of toston. I also had a great pina colada with it. This restaurant was the first restaurant I attended when I arrived in Puerto Rico. My family was already at the restaurant and had received some appetizers and the server quickly came over to our table to receive my husband and my order. The food and atmosphere was great. I ordered the Pechuga relleno con mofongo. Their mofongo was EXCELLENT. My stuffed chicken breast was also incredible and I couldn't eat the whole thing so I def took my leftovers home. My mom ordered the avocado stuffed with octopus and I was in heaven! The octopus was served ceviche style and was delicious with the perfectly ripe avocado. The avocado was basically the size of my hand! My husband enjoyed a breaded steak and our entire party was super happy with all our food. My only complaint would be that towards the end, our server seemed to kind of forget about us. I think he figured we were content with our food but we wanted some condiments and extra napkins and had to ask other staff. Not a huge deal but something to note. The restaurant was lively and bustling with conversation. Us Puerto Ricans love good food and to talk! lol It had a homey feel to it and the food did not disappoint. I live in the US, I come to PR 2 or 3 times per year. This place food, service and prices are good.

I have always gone to eat here and yesterday I bring a family member who was visiting PR to try the food since I described it as the best. When we arrive they tell us that all the tables are full and if I want to eat outside or wait. I tell him that Ill wait for a table that there is no problem, to which then waiter writes my name in his notebook and tells me that I can sit and wait outside and hell come to seat me as soon as a table is ready. After a while some people finished and come out so I knew they are going to come for us because they told me that there was no one else waiting and we would be the next to be seated/served. As i was getting ready to get up Two boys arrive, just open the door before us and another guy points to them to come and sit down at a table that opened up . Without asking if anyone else was waiting for a table. I enter and let a waiter know what happened, he apologizes goes to the back where the open table was to indicate the other waiter before the 2 gentlemen sat down but the other employee still sits them down as if nothing had happened. And gave them menus I was very upset, shocked and embarrassed, so I took a breath to think with a clearer mindset. As the minutes pass, the waiter comes out to whom I explain what happened and he just tell me, "When another table is empty, we'll seat you." And left. The one who had written down my name was no longer waiting tables he was now taking orders at some other table. And never came to check on me. I was going to go to him but I stopped myself from behaving in an angry manner so I decided to leave and go to another restaurant. They definitely need to get organized, I left in sad and embarrassed . I hope that no one else has to go through the same thing as me, and that your employees can have more communication with each other. I set high expectations for ny family member about this place for nothing. Conclusion, if you want a nice organized experience consider going elsewhere. Al pasar los minutos sale el mesero a quien le había explicado lo que sucedía y me dicen ah cuando se vacie otra mesa te sentamos. El que habia anotado mi nombre ya no andaba atendiendo mesa como host sino tomando órdenes y en ningun momento estuvo pendiente a mi o a la puerta. After 5 days on the island and eating out everyday this was the best place to get good food. Seems like a popular place for locals to get authentic Puerto Rican food. Clean restaurant, nice ambiance and good service. Didn't need to wait long for our food. The big milanese portion was delicious, topped with marinara and cheese. Had side of vegetables and mofongo. My wife had garlic chicken in a large avocado with sweet plantains. Was my first time trying guanabano (soursop) which was very delicious. My wife had authentic tamarindo which was delicious too. We were 3 on a Thursday night, parking lot was full, we had beer, beef chunks and fried chicken chunk with breadfruit tostones (tostones de pana). This "tostones" will never be compare to those in Restaurante Raices in Caguas, flavorwise and portion wise....big difference. Not a place you would typically find good seafood since it is not on the coast. But, this is a surprising exception to the rule. It is located in a shopping center which can make parking a bit challenging. The parking spots are smaller than usual. Once inside, you are warmly greeted by everyone. Even the patrons. It is the Puertorican way. I ordered water and their local beer, Medalla light. For lunch, I ordered the surullos, (fried corn meal sticks) for appetizer. They are 6 to an order and they come with mayo ketchup. These were disappointing because you can tell they were bough and not made in house. The meal was the octopus salad and the aranitas (little spiders). The aranitas are shredded plantain made into balls and fried. The octopus salad was huge, enough for 2 or even 3 people. Lots of flavor and fresh. The octopus was marinated to perfection and not rubbery at all. I hear it is marinating for hours. When talking to the waitress about how much I liked seafood, the table beside me must of overhead because the lady said "Young lady, I overheard you say you love seafood...well next time, order the stuffed lobster (she points at her husband's dish)" then she said "esta apoteosica" It means tremendous or divine. Ordered the café con leche and the tierrita de pistachio dessert. A delicious sweet ending to a perfect meal. The service is excellent. They treat you like family here! read more

Si vienes a Puerto Rico, tienes que comer comida criolla! This place is definitely a local spot. Random, unassuming location in a strip mall. Casual, somewhat tackily decorated interior. Air conditioning blasting. And packed for lunch on a Saturday. That means it must be good. Come here for the carne frita. This is what my mom orders whenever we're in town, and here it's hella good. Dryness is the main issue with this dish in many establishments, but the hefty chunks of carne here were moist and seasoned to perfection. It comes with a side (tostones, mofongo, amarrillos, rice and beans, fries, etc) so the portion is big 'n' plenty. So Puerto Rican. So perfect. My grandparents ordered the bistec empanado, but they did not enjoy it. According to them it was dry and had a tough consistency. I didn't try it, but I sure saw it. It was humongous. I had the mofongo with salmorejo de jueyes which was also a large portion and fricken' flavorful. Wash it down with a cold Medalla, and you're good to go. But not without dessert! The pumpkin flan was small but tasted absolutely delicious. The prices aren't the cheapest, but we found them reasonable considering the portions and overall quality of food. We went with a large party of 16 and we called 5 minutes before arriving to give them a quick heads up. That is the only thing I order here. I went in with my grandmother and she order una pechuga a la milanesa/ chicken Milanese and it wasn't good at all. I thought it was just my grandmother saying it because she is really picky, but she was right. First let's talk about the positives. Great and amazing flavor food. The negatives, Terrible and slow service, waitresses that are too busy to check on their own customers. The waitress was quick to greet us but then took half an hour for her to take our order and then when we got our food, it was cold. Never refilled our water and had to remind her that we never rcvd our sangrias we ordered when we ordered our food that took 30 min to come out of the kitchen. And then to top it off, when she went to bring us our croquetas, one fell off the plate and she grabbed it with her bare hands, walked around the bar and pretended like she was going to the kitchen and pretty sure she placed it back on the plate and brought it to our table, and when we said something about the one falling off the plate, she made it sound as if she got us a fresh one, which I clearly watched her not do. She had a major attitude and acted like she did nothing wrong. Truly sad that this was the experience we had for our first and last time. The waitress who ended up bringing us our bill was extremely sweet and asked for us to come back and ask for her, but this put such a bad taste in our mouth that I'm not sure we will.
