Food was delicious and the prices were great. Wait staff very friendly; especially Nataly. Our family is looking forward to returning.

We ate there Tuesday night, and received our drinks and food super fast, the special burrito is my favorite while my husband likes the chimichanga ....the salsa is never exactly the same, but always delicious!!! We have been to this restaurant twice and two out of two times we have been charged double. Same waitress each time. The food here is good and though we have three Mexican restaurants in our own town, we prefer the food here. When confronted about the bill the man at the front stated that the waitress was new. Um really? It has been more than a month between visits. Buyer beware! Check your receipts. I have the receipts for the second time that it happened. read more

My mother and I ate here on the way back from a Panthers game. We were tired and hungry. We debated waiting until we got closer to home to eat but coming through Locust we decided to find a place. We decided on El Vaquero because we were craving Mexican. I understand the difference between authentic Mexican and the food that a lot of "Mexican" restaurants serve. This was not authentic but it was some of the best non-authentic Mexican food I've ever had. I got the ACP simply because its a standard dish at most Mexican restaurants and I didn't want to take a chance getting something I didn't like. The chicken was cooked very well and the rice had to have been the best I have ever had at a restaurant like this. We ordered cheese dip and got a good amount. The waiters were average but overall very nice. Our food arrived in average amount of time and the waiters did a decent job of refilling our drinks. I will definitely keep this place in mind if I am every going through Locust again. read more

We will not be returning to El Vaquero again. My husband ordered a to go meal on 2/12/13 and when he got home he discovered it was wrong. Frustrated that he spent so much on a meal that was wrong, he called the restaurant to complain. My husband was very polite and explained the situation to the manager. The manager proceeded to tell him that he would either have to drive 15 minutes back to the restaurant with the food for them to fix it, or he would have to eat it anyway. He refused to give him a credit for the food. Then he stated 'I only make $8 an hour, you will have to bring it back or eat it'. He then refused to give us any contact information for his boss. We are appalled. I have never had such poor customer service, especially from a brand new restaurant in a small town. We are far from being hard to please, but we just want good food (and the correct order) for our hard earned money. Is that too much to ask? Please do not support a business that places no value in good customer service, and one that is flat out rude to is customers. read more

I recently moved into Cabarrus County, and have been looking for new places to eat. This restaurant was recommended by a friend, so my husband and I tried it last night. Mexican food has always been one of our favorite choices, and we always try local places when we travel. The food at El Vaquero beat any we have tried anywhere on the East Coast, and was priced well for the choices they offer. My husband raved about the pollo con crema, stating it would now be his choice for a "go to" meal knowing it would always be great. I had the naked burrito, and it could not have been better for the price. The food was fresh, well cooked, and the portion was much more than I expected. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes. I did, however, reduce my rating by a star as the chips that came with the meal seemed a little stale, but the salsa and queso fundido were both excellent. If you find yourself on the east side of Charlotte and looking for a great meal at a great price, it is worth the drive up 24/27 to Locust to eat here. I would recommend it to anyone! read more

Everyone makes mistakes. I sure made one when I decided to visit this resturant. The food was good but the service was awful! I only got one refill on my water. The first time the waiter brought the refill he brought sweet tea! I have had better service at a fast food resturant! read more
