I ordered via DoorDash last night at work. I ordered an Al Pastor regular burrito, Asada super burrito and two tacos Barbacoa. I also ordered sour cream added to each item and even ordered an extra sour cream somehow. I received an Asada burrito, which was not a super and no sour cream whatsoever (was missing sour cream, cheese, and avocado ). The charge for sour cream was $6 and a regular burrito is $14. I paid $18 for a super and got a regular. So besides the $10 extra for nothing I paid for, the tortillas on both burritos were very overcooked and the burritos themselves were dry. It would've been very different if I would've ordered when I wasn't working all night and can't leave to point out what was wrong, but I was at work working night shift at the hospital and got these terrible burritos. This was just plain mean and showed the poor quality of workers. I have no idea why this truck doesn't have better reviews, they are amazing! We purchased 3 asada tacos Their hot sauce was a bit spicy for me, so I just ate mine without sauce and it was juicy and full of flavor. We have tried several different trucks and I can honestly say " El Volcano is the best"! read more

If you're driving by the El Volcan food truck off highway 129, just press the gas and keep right on going. You'll be lucky if you leave this place in your rear view mirror. I paid $11 and some change for a super burrito that was decidedly unremarkable. It would have fallen short of my expectations if it we're mediocre the burrito. It was small, sad, and so wrinkly it reminded me of an old dwindling roll of paper towels that had been dropped into some puddle the dried. Sadly it was missing many of the ingredients you expect from a super burrito. My first two bites where about 90% lettuce strips with a sprinkling of some tough flavorless carne asada and gristle. At the halfway point, I found a few pinto beans and a chunk or two of tomato. I kept wondering where's the sour cream, pico de gallo, and that it's missing something else. At the end, I found a a few more pinto beans, some tomato chunks, and a sprinkling of that something else. Rice! Someone dusted the inside of the burrito with a small amount of rice in the same way you dust pasta sauce with Parmesan. The one ingredient that prevalent throughout were lettuce strips. This burrito was worse the cheap frozen ones in the grocery store. The should change this restaurant's name to El Trash Can. That's where the food belongs. read more

Read the previous comments. It's USED to be good. Now it's overpriced, and taste has gone downhill. Tbh I was gonna give it 1 star but the brick and mortar store has good employees. It's not saying much for a Salinas store where "customer service" is a rare commodity, but nonetheless, I still cheat here at times out of convenience. Every now and then the food turns out good, however it's a 50/50 shot. The truck used to be something I wouldn't mind waiting an extra 30-45minutes for my food, but now I don't even bother. I believe their prices were raised in the past few months, maybe due to the pandemic. Horchata was $5-7. Asada tacos are descent everything else not worth the money, in my opinion. It pumps out the tiniest of tortillas, very thick, dense and flavorless. Handmade my ass, they can't even operate that shitty roller properly, let alone making them by hand. Now, the meat. They serve the most pathetic minuscule amount of meat, as if they count the pieces you get per taco, I kid you not. I swear the tortillas are maybe 2.5-3 inches in diameter and you can roll them up even with the filling. What a joke and waste of money. You order a torta and it's just covered in mayo and margarin (nope they can't even use real butter) and everything else except the protein you're paying for. Clearly quality control or anything beside selling hot garbage is a priority here. Tacos and tortas aren't a difficult food to make or prepare, but with low quality ingredients, slow and rude service, absolute terrible portions and expensive for what you get. I just can't fathom why come here? I personally won't be coming back. I honestly can't recommend, El Volcan to anybody, unless I dislike the person(s). there is many tacos trucks and nowhere near a shortage of Mexican restaurants to get a decent taco not a good taco but decent one compared to what you get here. The food here was disgusting!! I spent 52$ of my hard earned money here, just to go home and put it in the trash. The women at the window had a great attitude. She was friendly and professional. The cook seemed like he did not want to be there. The hood wasn't even on, I assumed everything was pre-cooked and thrown in the microwave.
