Volleyball tournament in town. The owner kept the restaurant open for the group of 30 when we arrived at 7:55pm. Food was on point. Service was great. The owner checked in multiple times to ensure the quality of the food. Drinks were great. Perfect weather gave us the opportunity to dine outside after a long day indoors. Oh man! So delicious. I got the Al pastor, pollo, and asada street tacos. Each had a unique flavor and they were all well seasoned. My favorite street taco was the asada. It's appearing hard to do beans and rice correctly but here, the beans and rice were amazing. The quesabirria taco was the best thing of the meal. So wonderfully crunchy, not soggy. Problematically delicious. The carrot cake was surprisingly lite and not too sweet. The one wish I had was for home made chips. But their home made salsa and hot sauces made up for it. I was wandering around this area looking for something to eat. I decided to step inside and try a carne asada burrito and I was not disappointed. They were pretty busy considering it was weekday lunch time but my food came out quicker than I expected and was hot and delicious. The ladies running this place were very friendly and attentive to all the customers, greeting them and quickly cleaning tables as they cleared. I recently visited El Zaguan Bistro and found it to be a pretty average experience. The birria burrito was bland, with the rice and beans underseasoned, which ended up masking the flavor of the birria--already lacking depth. The cheese on top was just sprinkled, not melted or mixed in well. My understanding is that cheese should generally be melted and integrated into the dish; when it's not, it feels a bit jarring and overpowering. The service and interior were fine, but with so many other Mexican restaurants in the Valley, I wouldn't return. read more

One of our first stops on the Urban wine walk. I wanted to try the sample tacos. One bite of my chicken tings, I knew I'd be back later for dinner. Upon returning, the place was moderately busy. I told them I was gluten free and the staff told us she had just the thing for me. An enchilada. I asked again about it being gluten free. Most enchiladas are not. The chef was right next to her and told me how it was made. She did say it has a crema sauce in it and asked if I wanted it. I appreciated that she asked about any other allergies prior to me mentioning it. I asked for less but I still wanted to taste it. My husband ordered beef tacos served with consume dipping sauce. We sat outside and the chef brought us our food. We were in heaven. The food was so good! Perfectly flavored. The salsas were spicy and mild. Both contained a ton of flavor. We ate it all. And wished we had more. The staff and the chef were top notch people. They deserve so much business and support for all the locals in the area. I will return. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! Came to Phoenix on a business trip and decided to check this place out for lunch. The lines were long and it did take about 10 minutes for us to order but it was worth it. The location itself is small and has only a handful of tables but they do offer outdoor seating. Beautiful scenery with the tall corporate buildings. I ordered a Baja Style Burrito and a taco plate with three tacos. Prices were reasonable at about $40 total for the food and drinks. The burrito IS a little small for the price but it was delicious! Seriously, delicious. The tacos de asada and birria were also great! I would recommend this place to anyone interested in some good Mexican food. Being from LA, I can defiantly assure you this isn't a street style or home style type of Mexican food joint but it's worth the visit. read more

I see this place gets busy so I went for an early lunch (around 10:30) and tried a sampling of a few different tacos: asada, birria, and nopalitos. I was hoping for homemade chips but they appeared to be store-bought--which was totally fine, because the salsa and guac were some of the best I ever had. So much flavor!!
