The girl working Saturday morning/early afternoon was extremely rude and made us feel unwelcome from the start. We placed a large to go order with items like pancakes and birria, yet no syrup or salsa was included. Normally I'd assume it was just an honest mistake, but combined with the employee's attitude and lack of customer service, it honestly felt careless. We were impressed by the chips & salsa. The chilaquiles were good, but got soggy quickly. I prefer to have a sauce drizzled over my chilaquiles instead of covered with sauce for that very reason. Only a 5 minute drive from home! Very authentic inside. Warm welcome and seated immediately. Plenty of parking and not very busy. So far lots of perks. The menu is large and the prices are to be envied by any restaurant. The three of us ordered something different and everything was very good. They bring chips and salsa and even refilled it without charging. I regret not taking a picture of my chicken taco salad. I got too excited about eating it. It was huge! I took most of it home. I did notice a sewer smell at the entrance and I'm sure they are aware because they were burning incense. This obviously wasn't their fault. I've noticed it occasionally at other places. Make sure to bring your glasses because some of the print on the menu is very small. I was wishing for bean dip to go with the chips. I didn't check the menu and didn't ask. I go here every single Saturday for pozole. It is THE BEST in the valley. I have tried so many places and this one is the BEST. I always get the pescado ceviche and pozole. The servers are very nice. My only negative thing to say would be that it can take them a while to get you out of there when you're ready to leave... but usually because there is one server and they can get very busy. Coming in we were greeted right away & seated , the restaurant it very spacious lots of seating great for small or big groups. Staff was very friendly and checked on us to make sure we had what we needed, after ordering the food didnt take too long. We ordered the menudo, taco de lengua (kids) and chilaquiles breakfast. Flavor wise everything was yummy my son loved his taco and rice , my chilaquiles were tasty just wish they were a tiny bit spicy but loved the side potatoes very flavorful and my parents had the menudo they liked it they did mention the soup is a bit thicker then were used too but still good. This place has really good food at an affordable price. The fish ceviche is around $6 and its amazing! I always get the pozole which is around $15 but you get a lot ! I never finish it and always have to get the rest to go. This restaurant is on the large side and has a ton of seating. The staff here is always really nice and the service is quick. If you enjoy your food, they have a bell you can ring on the way out ! Ill definitely be back to try other food they have ! read more

This was my first time ordering from here (pick up) and I decided to keep it simple with menudo. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. The soup had barely any meat or tripe, just an overwhelming amount of hominy, and the broth spilled everywhere as soon as I opened the container. It felt more like a bowl of hominy soup than actual menudo. If this is how it's served, I can only imagine how the rest of the menu might be. I rarely gush about anything but El Zarape is gush worthy!!!!! We have made several visits already. Today we visited with 3 grandchildren and they loved it. (8/31/25). We arrived about 3:30, knowing they close at 5 on Sunday and we wanted to make sure we had time to enjoy. Lola was the only server working and she was running around serving everyone and keeping track with a smile. It was amazing. I'll be honest, when we walked in today and she was behind the register cashing out a customer, I leaned toward my husband and whispered, " Oh, I like her, she's good." And she did not disappoint. My new food try was an Asada taco salad. It was great though the lettuce was either over-dressed or hadn't been completely dried. Considering that it looked like there was only one person in the kitchen, I understood. We had the usual tacos for the 10 you, which she is obsessed with. 11 yo old had the chicken quesadilla. Loved it but she couldn't finish because it was so big. 15 yo had vegetarian nachos and pretty much wiped them out. Hubby had the Chicken Mole. If you've read my prior review, it was divine. We had another amazing dinner at our new favorite restaurant (El Zarape). I had the Shrimp Fajitas and my husband got his usual (Carnitas). The food was very good and it was the perfect portion size and priced just right. The service was incredible..Lola was friendly and was quick to answer any questions we had and made great some recommendations. I called a little after 10am to place an order over the phone. Mind you, my order was only for one meal. They said it'd be ready in 10 minutes, and that's when I got there. I told them I had a phone order and they told me to wait. I took a phone call for about 5 minutes and reminded them again about my phone order. The lady kept walking past me, almost ignoring me and continued to make me wait. I told them I called shortly after 10am and that they're the ones who said my order will be ready after 10 minutes. All the cooks looked confused in the back and I heard one of them say something about the order not showing up on their screen. When I finally went to pay, the screen said "no onions, no cilantro". I told them I didn't ask for that and they said they'll remake it. I asked how long it would take, and she blamed the delay on the "crowd" which only consisted of about 4 tables. I ended up walking out with no food after being there until 10:30. So ridiculous for all of that to be over ONE meal and the restaurant was only like 1/4 full. Not a single apology from any of them either. They need to take away phone ordering if they don't know how to manage it. I expect better from a restaurant that just opened read more
