This is not a place where they provide free chips and salsa and we ordered also ordered some for the table along with the guacamole. Everything tasted fresh, maybe a little too much lime in the guacamole though. The place felt like something between a chain Mexican restaurant and Javier's but smaller. There are reasonably priced dishes or you can get a tomahawk steak as well. There seemed to be something for everyone to choose from in different price ranges. At the end of the meal the bill was about $100 for my hubby and me or $200 for the table including tax and tip. A pleasant place with good food that I'd be willing to return to.

Everything about the place was great. We loved it. We went at least once a week. Over the last six months, I've been watching their quality and service diminish gradually. First, they switched to cheap taco shells that it seems like anyone can buy at a grocery store then they started getting very sloppy with the way they made the tacos. Then the customer service dropped completely. It seems all the adults stopped working there and possibly the children of the owners work there? Most of the time I go in there there's a bunch of high school kids hanging out trying to get free food from the kid behind the counter. Or the girls's boyfriend is standing there talking her up while she's taking orders. Almost every week there's a problem with the order, but I've just been blowing it off because it's close to my house it's convenient and my 84 year-old mother and 93-year-old father really liked the tacos there. The last few weeks they've been slowly running out of syrup in their soda machine. I would normally order tacos and grab a drink to sit in the restaurant and sip on a drink while I waited for the tacos. Now there are no sodas at all. There's a piece of paper with a marker note written on it that says no more soda. And there's a great big handwritten sign on the juices and Horchata next to it that says no free refills. Also, the containers that you put the salsa in have now become half the size that they once were and you can't put salsa in them without spilling it all over your hand. Just spent $32 on six hardshell ground beef tacos got home and they were all in the bag upside down. All of the ingredients were falling out everywhere they were half ass wrapped, and on top of that the taco shells were severely burned. I'm done. I'm going to finally break free of this place and find another taco shop nearby. It's a damn shame because it was such a great local place to go to for some time, but it seems that the parents turned over control to the kids who appear to be high school age and they are not doing a very good job.

The teens working are in absolute hell (read: they don't wanna be there) and it shows, which is unfortunate because I think the father is genuinely trying. The restaurant is on the smaller side, the menu looks more exciting than it was practically speaking. I ordered their weekend lamb birria and while it was fair, it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. It comes with cabbage, a very spicy green salsa, real corn tortillas, a smidgen of broth (they could be more generous with their broth and chips, both, if they switch the chips to a fresher variety). They also had chapulines (grasshoppers), mole, and a bunch of specialties on the menu that I didn't get to try. I used to work at my father's restaurant when I was a teen and now I see how that must have reflected on his customers. Unhappy teens may be required help when you can't hire staff but they reflect poorly on the experience. I'd say give Sabores a try with tempered expectations if you've been looking for Oaxacan food in Las Vegas. The father was friendly but not to me, even though I greeted him in Spanish. She asked if we wanted to start with (thick warm) chips and salsa. YES, PLEASE! Wished the chips were saltier, but too lazy to ask for salt (which just causes water retention anyway). Busy solo, our bartender eventually came around for our drink orders, and we both chose fancy margaritas. My Black (Berry) and Basil may have been the perfect cocktail ever. Sugar rimmer made sticky hands, but OMG I loved this sweet boozy concoction. Hubs ordered a Spicy Piña with pineapple and jalapeno slices. I was able to add the avocado that my husband removed from his ceviche and round out these tacos, which were only topped with cheese and sauce. Maybe some cabbage would be good here? These were just ok but I was hungry. Alas, the potent concoctions were enough that I only required one. I really wanted to get the spicy mango margarita too. Which will necessitate another visit to La Neta for happy hour again on our way back through town in a month!
