I've been here a few times my experience is always been relatively good. This time my experience was different. It was absolutely overwhelmingly delicious. Chips and salsa were legit. The beans are better than average. It's a super cool traditional Mexican Restaurant feels like I'm somewhere in Mexico with delightful colors. Lots of pictures of Frida service was fast and exceptional. Very very good. The Menudo was absolutely fabulous. I must try it five out of five. Food: chicken tamale and enchilada with green sauce plate, chicken taquitos (flautas) plate and watermelon agua fresca. The green sauce on the enchilada was extremely spicy for me. The tamale was a bit dry but I think that might be how tamales are. I liked hubby's taquito plate and if we went back I would order that. The rice and beans lacked flavor. They provide complimentary chips with salsa and bean dip. The salsa tastes very cold and fresh but lacks any trace of spice at all. Quite the extreme from the green sauce. The bean dip lacked flavor. Updated review went from top stars to one. Upon arriving the boy in the front right away asked us if we wanted to go to the bar when we came to have dinner. We asked for a booth and were then asked to wait 10 min. There was a couple booths open but maybe he wanted us to sit in a different side idk. So we waited and then were seated. They weren't busy with a room of 4 different guest already seated. We are almost all the chips before our order was taken. My water sat empty until we were finished and ready to leave. In the meantime there were a group of young immature adults female seated to the left just making so much noise and chatter the other guest kept looking over to them as well. Yet no one meaning staff said anything. We came to eat dinner and the noise was just extreme loud, louder than the music playing. We could've stayed home with our teenage children if we wanted to hear all that racket. First time we came here the atmosphere was great! We took pictures and bought all of them. Service was great the first time. This is the last time we will come here. From start to finish service was not good. Food was good though but that is about it. My wife and I literally had a craving for Mexican on Cinco De Mayo, and Casa Don Juan is really close to us. So, off we went. We got there before the dinner rush crowd. We literally left the house, ordered and paid within an hour! The fast was, as usual, delicious! Generous portions, friendly servers and a casual atmosphere. The only thing I would love to see on the beverage menu would be glutten free seltzers. Drinks like White Claws, Nutruls or Trulys. She can't have any restaurant beers and no one carries those on tap or in bottles. Other than that, this restaurant is perfect when you're craving a good Mexican dinner. read more

It's white cheese dip with jalapeños but not sure I would spend the "market price" ~$12 as quoted on the menu. I mean it's decent and hits the spot but it's the price of a full meal. You get chips, salsa, and beans dip which are all perfect. The salsa has good flavor and it's just liquid. Pair that with the Al Pasor tacos and some spicy salsa - this is fire! The taco comes with grilled onions, pineapple, pico and guacamole. One of the best...out of carne asada and chicken. Hard pass on the chicken, comes with lettuce and yellow cheese - not a fan. We came here for lunch on a Sunday 09/21, and made reservations this time to be safe. The ambiance was the same warm and inviting atmosphere we remembered, but this time I got to watch one of the ladies making fresh tortillas by hand, which made the experience feel even more authentic. We'll definitely be coming back! ---------------- Our first visit was on Sunday 08/17 and we stopped by for lunch. The restaurant was busy but not overcrowded, and we were seated right away. Complimentary chips and salsa is always a plus. I ordered the #17 carne asada, which was flavorful and very tender. My boyfriend had the #11 three enchiladas. He especially enjoyed the cheese, followed by the chicken, and said overall it was very good. For dessert, we shared the flan, which was delicious, and not overly sweet. We had such an amazing experience here. The food is always incredible, and the staff is consistently so kind and welcoming. The whole place just has the best energy and vibes every time we come in. We were celebrating my father-in-law's 80th birthday, and Chanel truly made the night extra special. She came over and offered to take photos for us, and I'm so glad she did because they turned out absolutely beautiful. She was so sweet, professional, and really captured such meaningful moments for our family. We ended up purchasing all of the photos and will cherish them forever. Our server, Darwin, was also amazing--attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect for us the entire time. And the strawberry margarita is SO good... highly recommend. Now the Name on the front has changed a couple times over the years but maybe the same family runs it? I mean the service is Always Tops! This has become our go to place for Mexican food and margaritas in the area. The restaurant is big with a separate bar area and has a traditional Mexican restaurant vibe. The wait staff is attentive and there is also a resident photographer if you're into that. They have an extensive list of margaritas to chose from I tried the cucumber and house and both were great although the cucumber one don't taste very strong. I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant today because of the way I was treated by the manager, Juan (a man with black hair and a black beard). I simply wanted to speak with him about an issue with my food, believing that as a paying customer, I should be able to respectfully express a concern and receive a professional response. However, from the moment Juan approached my table, he seemed visibly annoyed. His body language and facial expressions made it clear that he was irritated by my feedback, and while I tried to explain the situation, his attitude made me feel extremely uncomfortable, as though my concern was a nuisance rather than something worth listening to. I didn't expect him to necessarily agree with me, but I did expect basic courtesy and professionalism from someone in a management position. Part of a manager's responsibility is to listen to customers and address their concerns without making them feel uncomfortable or unwelcome for speaking up. After this experience, I have no intention of returning, and I would not recommend this restaurant to my family or friends because I would not want them to have a similar experience. An issue with food can usually be resolved, but poor customer service can completely ruin the entire experience, and unfortunately, that is exactly what happened today read more

Service was great and staff friendly - the only reason for 4 out of 5 star was they use the small shrimp for the fajita...in the city of excess like Vegas I guess I'm used to the larger shrimp..so that was a little disappointing. I'm a regular customer at Casa Don Juan and usually visit once or twice a month. My recent visit was very disappointing due to how a small payment issue was handled. My bill was around $75, and I noticed I was not charged tax (about $2.78). I pointed it out and was fine paying it. Shortly after, I was told the card machine wasn't working. We then waited while staff tried to fix the issue, which turned into about 20-30 minutes total of waiting over something very minor. At that point, I let them know I needed to leave and suggested they could just charge my card once the system was back up since they already had my information. However, I was told I could not leave without paying the $2.78 tax on the spot. While I understand businesses need to collect what is owed, the situation felt unnecessary and poorly handled given the small amount and the fact that the issue started on their end. The lack of flexibility and overall handling came off as petty, especially after I had already spent time waiting for their system issues. The decor is bright and colorful, just like Mexico... so many fun details you might miss but someone put a lot of thought into the decor. I appreciate their dedication to Frida Kahlo. The Downtown location has her more prominently featured. Their chips are fresh and served warm with perfect salsa and beans. My boyfriend says the beans taste just like his mom and grandma used to make... They have the BEST queso dip I've ever had. My favorite meal is the beef chimichanga, or #23 with the grilled flank steak and cheese enchilada. He usually gets a torta or a burrito. Portions are huge, we always have leftovers. Dinners are served with fideo soup. It's a challenge to save room for the main dish! The margaritas are good but not always consistent, depends on the bartender. We usually order a Cadillac pitcher, but they have many flavor options, rocks or frozen. We always leave full and happy! read more
