We stopped here last night because this location was so highly rated on Yelp and it mentioned that they had some outdoor seating which is great as we always have our dog with us. My husband went into order and they offered him a bowl of water for our dog which I thought was so sweet!! By the time we grabbed our chips and salsa from the adorable salsa bar, our food was already coming out! I could not believe how fast it was. I ordered the taquito plate and it came with four taquitos which was a pleasant surprise because usually I only get two or three, but even more amazing was how thick and stuffed full of meat they were! Hands down the best taquitos I've ever had! My husband also really enjoyed his birria and the horchata was huge and delicious. They play music outside the restaurant as well. So even though we were sitting out front there was still great ambiance and the staff made sure to come out to check on us. We had a lovely meal and would definitely return. Loved the self sauce bar, fact that they allow dogs inside to order take out (because some restaurants don't allow entry of dogs at all) which i really appreciated, their homemade chips and many agua fresca flavor options! We got the Jamaica and watermelon flavors which were stellar, for food we got the asada quesadilla, birria tacos, mexicana tacos (asada, carnita, pastor) and they were delicious. we got it for to-go and the tacos got a bit dry during the 7min drive home which was a bummer. I think they wouldve tastes much better eaten fresh on the spot. Food is good. Best in Redding for Mexican. Prices are pretty high though, damn near five dollars each for just a simple street taco. If you order the Barria, be sure to tell them to watch the fat trim when they put the meat in the sauce, a couple times we've got that dish and had nothing but a gigantic golf ball sized blob of fat in our Barria cup. We were greeted by staff who was friendly and helpful. Didn't rush our decision and answered our questions. We ordered a couple of street tacos (one chile verde and the other carnitas). Since one of us doesn't like spicy, she recommended leaving the sauce off one and just using their salsa bar. The comments about the salsa bar are spot on -- Good selection and the chips are under a heat lamp. There was a sign that offered street corn. This was the only slight disappointment -- we thought it would be roasted, but it didn't taste like it was. Still tasted great. You order at the counter and are given a bowl for chips and you find your seat. Once the food is ready, they bring it to your table. There are a couple of tables outside, while most of the seating is inside. They had a couple of TVs going with futbol (Arsenal v InterMilan -- champions League). Wow! Who would have thought I would have found an authentic truly authentic Mexican restaurant in Redding! Well the Yelpers got it right and I did with their help! I found this on Yelp with almost 5 stars and I had to try it since I'm Mexican with my family born in Mexico and so glad I did. Walked in and was greeted by the young lady at the counter who was warm, attentive and had excellent customer service. I spoke to her and Spanish and it made her day since she was from Jalisco Mex. The ambiance is just your typical Mexican diner serving good food. Now for the food that was super yummy and delish and yes authentic and great overall flavor and seasonings! Not to mention they had 5 different salsas all with the different taste profiles and different levels of spicy. Once I bit into the street tacos and also their Quesabirria tacos I knew it was authentic and perfectly cooked and seasoned bringing my memories.
