This is by far the most authentic Mexican food in Redding. We had gotten a Chimichanga, and a Chorizo Breakfast Burrito that were just amazing. Not only was the food good, but they had a fresh salsa bar, with fresh tortilla chips. We literally tried every item in the salsa bar, and not one thing was a miss. The service was great as well; the gentleman that took our order was nice, and the cooks were fast! They were absolutely packed, and not one person didn't have food on their table!! We dropped into Dos Amigos last September on our way back to the Bay Area. Redding does not have many good vegetarian restaurants and we thought mexican food would best serve that purpose. The food was fantastic, not only the best in the area, one of the best we have eaten. I made a note of it and this year on our way back, we timed our lunch to eat here again. On a road trip, this place made an impression. Someone in the reviews mentioned great human beings behind the counter and I second it. The staff are helpful and today they even did not charge us to make our wet burrito a vegetarian wet burrito. An honest business! Food- super selection of salsa, the pineapple being our fav! Tortillas are fresh, delicious and warm. Plenty of grilled vegetables on our fajita platter, flavorful rice and generous portion size. Great music too It's rare that we repeat restaurants. We were traveling through and stopped here. It's a small place tucked into a strip mall. We climbed over some homeless people and came in. We ordered tacos, rice, and beans. The tacos were fine, but really nothing special. They didn't have a ton of meat and everything was a little runny. We got Asada, tripe, Carnitas, and El Pastor. Also, the refried beans were unusual. They added something to them that made them different than what I normally see in Mexican restaurants. The best thing we got with the Birria tacos. Those were excellent. I stopped in recently to grab food for my family while holding my sleeping four-year-old, and their team went completely above and beyond. We stopped here last night because this location was so highly rated on Yelp and it mentioned that they had some outdoor seating which is great as we always have our dog with us. My husband went into order and they offered him a bowl of water for our dog which I thought was so sweet!! By the time we grabbed our chips and salsa from the adorable salsa bar, our food was already coming out! I could not believe how fast it was. I ordered the taquito plate and it came with four taquitos which was a pleasant surprise because usually I only get two or three, but even more amazing was how thick and stuffed full of meat they were! Hands down the best taquitos I've ever had! My husband also really enjoyed his birria and the horchata was huge and delicious. They play music outside the restaurant as well. Loved the self sauce bar, fact that they allow dogs inside to order take out (because some restaurants don't allow entry of dogs at all) which i really appreciated, their homemade chips and many agua fresca flavor options! We got the Jamaica and watermelon flavors which were stellar, for food we got the asada quesadilla, birria tacos, mexicana tacos (asada, carnita, pastor) and they were delicious. we got it for to-go and the tacos got a bit dry during the 7min drive home which was a bummer. I think they wouldve tastes much better eaten fresh on the spot.
