Stopped by Hermanos today. Yes, they are open. I guess they were closed for a few weeks but they are in fact, open. Whenever I'm visiting Redding, I always like to try new places, especially searching for solid Mexican food (which isn't an easy task in such a small town). People who know me, know that I love beans - refried especially. My grandmother and father made amazing refried beans. Living in Los Angeles, there's a diverse number of places that really deliver the flavor. I digress. So, I stop at Hermanos today and ordered a bean and cheese burrito and a chorizo soft taco. The guys working there were friendly and after explaining to them that I'm visiting from Southern California and my affinity for beans (I'm a nerd, what can I say lol), they gave me a taste of their shredded beef birria. It was amazing. Melted in my mouth. So, A+ there. To the headliners... Bean and cheese burrito. The tortilla was homemade tasting/feeling (didn't appear to be store bought like some of the other places I've tried here). On a scale of 1-10, I give the beans a 7. They were better than average and better than good. Chorizo soft taco. Pretty simple taco. Soft flour tortilla, lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, and chorizo. The chorizo was cooked perfectly (That isn't a passing comment either. Chorizo can be easily under or overcooked). Great flavor. Tasted fresh. They gave me green and red salsa. Both were really tasty and enjoyable. I think I have found my new favorite Mexican spot in Redding. The true test will be their chili relleno and pozole. I will definitely be back. read more

We have had so many great experiences at Hermano's! The family that owns the restaurant is so friendly and have done a great job renovating the patio to make it so comfortable when dining in. Well we got there just before closing but we were warmly welcomed. My grandson loves Carnitas and he thought that it was great along with his beans and rice. I was torn between a Chili Relleno or some Carne Asada.. Turned the menu to last page and BAM there was the Carne y Rellano Burrito and made my choice of Asada and I was set. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Hermano's. The owners are wonderful (a father and son - family to the previous owner). The food is next l-level delicious. Redding is blessed with great Mexican food, and Hermano's elevates this even further. The outdoor patio is quaint and a perfect setting for enjoying your food which was clearly prepared with pride and skill. We've tried about everything on the menu, and I have NEVER left unhappy. The food is wonderful. The stand outs for breakfast are the chilaquiles and the chorizo breakfast burrito. The portions are more than fair too, so be prepared to share. Service was absolutely amazing, and the food was outstanding. This is the kind of restaurant and family you route for, and rejoice that you found them in the beginning of their journey. Another great addition to our culinary community. The only issue I had (I have many, but in this case) was the size of the Diabla burrito. Most American adults could happily split this sucker and be good. My issue is that I was raised to clean my plate, and to my own degradation I all too often clean my plate, even when it induces a food coma. My delight in spicy food was met with this meal. It had a bit of a kick to it, but didn't challenge the limits of my heat reserves. Tasty, spicy, and hard to put down. With Hermano's, Fuego and Flaco's Tacos in Southwest Redding one doesn't have far to go for great options in tacos and burritos. I'll be back to try more options on the menu. read more

Delicious Food, Excellent service, and a lovely little outdoor dining area. We were on a day trip to Redding. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, including providing a bowl of water for our little puppy to drink out in the patio area. Hermano's might be one of the only places in Redding Ca to serve authentic chilaquiles and huevos divorciados! Their chips, salsa, glass bottled soda and authentic dishes are absolutely amazing. If you haven't checked this little hole in the wall out You Need To! My boyfriend loves spicy food and they accommodated him wonderfully! I on the hand like it just how it is and it was perfect. I'm a foodie and well traveled. I've authentic food in Mexico Santa Cruz and San Diego and this little place brings me back to vacations with mouth watering authentic homemade dishes.
