Unassuming yet very festive. When I walked in, I had a feeling the food would be really good and just authentic. Nothing overly fancy- but it's the type of Mexican food that to me is best. Prices are fantastic- a kids meal is $5!!! My husband and I got a margarita each- him a Cadillac and myself a skinny cucumber. We also split the chile Colorado. My daughter got an à la carte fish taco which she really enjoyed. The chile Colorado was beyond excellent. Good call to split it- massive portion. First time trying and pleasantly surprised to see nice a vegetarian selection. Even better was the white rice and not typical Mexican rice, since the latter tends to use bouillon which has MSG, and causes pain. Black beans with cheese sprinkled over Food was quite tasty, colorful and filling. Even came with chips and salsa pre meal (tho asked for spicier sauce), then mini bunuelos for dessert. Allergic to cinnamon but did taste, again quite good and not too sweet. The cream on top was light and fresh. YuM'm! My quesadilla was so good! Quite the meal all by itself (spinach, onions, cheese, mushrooms, and tomato) with sides of sour cream and guacamole. Restaurant was clean, quiet, and service good with no long wait (lunchtime). Giving 4 stars simply because the service didn't match the faces. All seemed somber and/or with a preoccupied mind. Going thru the motion with no real ooomph. In Redding for the weekend and needed a place for dinner. This was a great choice! The decor is fun and provides a great ambiance! Makes you feel like you are outside under the stars! (I will note that the seat cushion in the booth was not that comfortable as the padding is a bit wore out so you feel the structural boards underneath so you may want to opt for a table instead of a booth) We had the fajita trio for two that came with shrimp, steak & chicken. (Ask for it medium well as the meat kept cooking on the skillet and steak ended up a bit more like jerky. lol) my husband had a Cadillac Margarita and wow! It was worth the $$! Stopped in for dinner and I must say it is so colorful and nicely decorated. The ceiling gives the effects of shining stars. We were seated quickly and everyone was very nice and welcoming. We got the chips and salsa. The chips were a little on the stale side, hard and chewy. The salsa had flavor, not much heat. The drinks were big and came out quick. The food portions are pretty big and good prices. The food was good, nothing really great. The chimichanga could have used some sauce on top instead of the sour cream which said it didn't come with. Flies were flying all around the resteraunt. I recommend they subscribe to, "Fly Predators," which I use for controlling the flies around my cattle, horses and sheep; ususally used around livestock. However, I don't see why one couldn't go ahead and try to use them around resteraunts as well. The little fly predator critters work GREAT when you have a fly management program: Nearly zero flies and pretty soon, NONE, during fly season. Gone!! The fly predators sterilize the flies in flight. Try it!! You'll be amazed and grateful for the science that will help you KEEP your customers happy & SAFE. read more

I've been to this one during the holidays [very busy] and in the summertime [not as much]. I'll detail my experience here during the holidays. But both times the food was pretty darn tasty. The interior is very bright - excellent lighting and colorful artwork can be seen all around the restaurant. The music is cheerful, and there is plenty of room ensuring you don't feel like a sardine. Back to the food, you get the standard chips and salsa upon sitting down. Their salsa is nothing short of delicious. I love salsa, and with some kick. Theirs did the job! I ordered a taco salad, because I was in the mood for something light. It came out fast, tasted fresh, and was filling. Service was also fast and efficient. I really did enjoy my experiences here! Next time I am here, I would like to try some of the other offerings on their menu. The only problem is that Redding is so far away. If you're ever in Redding, make sure you check this place out. Our family's favorite for years... we have been loyal customers because these folks are fantastic and the food is top notch! The lights in the ceiling and all the traditional art work is welcoming. We almost always have a group of 5 or more and they take great care of us. Warm Chips and yummy salsa on the table when we are seated, they know my husband likes the hotter salsa and bring it without needing to ask. Service is friendly prompt and always with a great smile! Bottom line - this is C grade Mexican food. Arrived and received chips and salsa and they were average. Ordered a combo with pork tamale and cheese enchilada. The cheese enchilada was cheesy yet the sauce seemed out of a can, not very authentic. The tamale was DRY and if I had to guess, a frozen tamale. Not fresh. The food was hot and honestly their technique probably dried the rice out - it was dry. Was hopping this recommendation was good - but sadly it was not and I'm sure there is better. read more

7 years ago while in Redding we stopped by and had excels t Mexican food. Well we came back today and it was Even better than I remember. The food was piping hot, prepared quickly and the service was remarkable. I had the hard tacos (carnitas, shredded beef and ground beef). They were delicious. My daughter had the corn tacos and devoured them. My wife had the 3 item plate with chimichanga, chicken taco and pork tamale. The pork tamale was off the hook. Kids enjoyed the chicken strips and fries. Finished off with the fried ice cream!! The quality of the food was awesome and my wife was pleased to take home the left overs. This review is gonna be my hardest one yet. It was my first time at this restaurant. We were seated right away it was busy and got busier. The waiter helping us was super nice even though he looked like he wasnt having a good day. He made sure we had anything we needed or asked for, he was a older gentleman. He was working his section like a champ. It was alil loud to hear but that was only cause it was so busy, very festive, atmosphere was nice, other people were satisfied with the service and food. Now from the time we walked in to being seated to ordering the food came out to us very quick, very hot and delicious. The waiter made sure to warn us of the temperature of the plates. I think the whole time we were in the restaurant was maybe an hour we had stuffed ourselves with chips & salsa and Queso so I had plenty of left-overs. Would I recommend yes would I come back of course id like to try some of the other food. read more

MY GO-TO Mexican restaurant in Redding My family and I have been coming here since I was a little guy. And when I come back to Redding to see family, I make sure to come here at least once for dinner. The service is always great. If I'm not mistaken the same family/people still work here. They're always attentive and nice. I also love the decor. Bright and colorful, just like the restaurant in San Diego. The quality of food has also never wavered. Their chips and salsa are on point I always ordered the Guadalajara Especial with steak and chicken mix. SO GOOD! I really have no complaints about this place. This place was so festive inside! The decor was great, and it was spacious. Service was amazing- we accidentally came kind of close to closing time, and they still treated us like royalty! This is our third visit. This restaurant is festive, well staffed, and provides delicious food. The decor is colorful. It can be noisy, but that adds to the festivity. The virgin mango margarita was yummy, but it cost $12.50. I would not have ordered it had I known the price. The fajitas portion was enough for two people, so order carefully. Delicious! read more

I asked for a couple of avocado slices, and they brought me a whole avocado, which I love as a side. The margarita is strong and delicious, especially on the rocks. My chicken taco was savory and juicy. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic date or a family outing, or even just hanging out alone. The salsa and chips were mediocre and didn't interest anyone, which ws unusual, in that when they are good, they disappear fast. The horchata disappointed several at the table. I was served an inedible slice of tomato. Better to have served none. We all know tomatoes grown to be shelf stable and are questionable at their best. My daughter took me to lunch and suggested the restaurant since we love Mexican food. I ordered the taco combo(Chile verde) with rice and beans. She ordered shredded tacos with rice and beans. As soon as we got our food my daughter tried a piece of chili verde, she was immediately disappointed. She quickly said you can make better Chili Verde than this!!! I took a bit of the taco and I was also immediately disappointed!!! The pork was still so tough and rubbery that I couldn't stab it with a fork!!! The rice and beans was bland. I ate one taco and I gave up on it. Her shredded taco wasn't shredded, she also only ate one taco and gave up on it!!! This place use to be really good that's why we came in to eat, but we will never comeback!!! read more
