The food was on point. We stumbled upon this gem on our way back from Washington state. We had tripa tacos, enchiladas, and a chile relleno. Accompanied by a coconut horchata. Sheesh... fire! The experience was highlighted be the young cashier. I believe her name was Marlin. Her customer service was 5 stars. A shot out to her. And a big thank you to management for hiring people Like her. I use to really like this place, but it's gone down hill. Ordered burrito it was almost all beans and rice. Very little meat and taste just ok. Had fish tacos and it was so old and greasy. Instead of a whole piece it looks like it was a fried breaded fish fell apart and then they scrambled it and dump tons of salt. I told the cashier that it didn't taste fresh and if I can just get a different taco maybe just carne Asada. She said no they will have to charge me if I don't like the dish. Very nice surprise to find a solid menudo spot in Redding. The service was friendly and fast. The seating was very comfortable with indoor & outdoor options. The drink selection was good with a couple refrigerators of cold beverages. Fresh horchata & Jamaica with free refills also available. I had the Jamaica which was good. I was traveling to Sacramento so I got big cup and filled it up for the road. There's also a nice chip and salsa bar that came free with my order. This is not a five star restaurant I stopped and while driving through town and was lured in by the yelp review. It was well over 100° in this place other has no air conditioning or barely functioning as it was seriously hot. My son ordered the fish tacos and I ordered a fajita burrito. The first thing that I noticed is that the menu is massive. There's no way you can make all these things fresh and tasty when you're making 200 different items. My son's tacos came out and they were store-bought tortillas. I feel like any good Taqueria makes her own tortillas in house and on the spot. His fish tacos were extremely fishy and bland. The fajita burrito was huge but underwhelming. It drastically locked flavor. The chicken was a very odd consistency as if it was par cooked three days earlier and then finished a few minutes before serving. The best Think about this place are there salsas. They've got a pretty good selection and the salsa is a quite tasty. Although even loading up my burrito with their homemade salsa didn't save this burrito. In the end my son took two bites of his taco and I Ate less than half of my burrito and we both left feeling hungry. It's a shame as I constantly coming through town and looking for good places to eat but I will not be stopping back here again. read more

First of all the service from our order taker was a little on the rude side, but that really didn't bother me, she was probably having a bad day due to the fact it was 130 degrees in Redding haha. The carnitas though was pretty salty and not very good. The asada looked good and my wife liked hers, but for me not so much. The salsa bar was decent and the salsa was ok. Again nothing really spectacular, just ok. I use to live in Redding for awhile and have been here a few times and everytime I've went, kind of always left pretty dissatisfied. We were in the area and this place has the best fresh Mexican food I have had in a long time. My son got the supreme burrito, boyfriend got the carne asada burrito and I got the carnita tacos...everything fresh, amazing delicious....they make their salsas fresh every day. I don't usually eat salsa as I don't like hot/spicy yet they had this mild, perfect for me it had more of a garlic spice flavor and very fresh and truly mild Highly recommend this place! Chicken burrito was good. Really hot and full. Everything cooked and seasoned well. Best thing about Los Gordos was the salsa bar. Really enjoyed adding different salsas to each bite. This is a great little Mexican restaurant inside the gas station. And it's pretty authentic I had the chile relleno burrito which is always delicious they have a nice salsa bar and the customer service is good and I like going through the driveway the drive-thru for quick and easy pickup so I really recommend this place. read more

Great street tacos here. I love the carnitas and carne asada. The price is fair, maybe a tad high, but very good food. I recommend tacos a la carte rather than a plate because the rice and beans are pretty nondescript. One thing I love is the salsa. All made in house.
