Great donuts,crapes. I have not tried a lot of their products but they all look delicious. The service is very friendly.

The donuts were with wheat dough. We weren't told that, so when we went to eat them and bit into it, it wasn't very tasty the first thing in the morning. I went here due to the great reviews and am slightly disappointed. The donuts tasted old and like they'd been fried in grease and sitting in it. I was really upset because they have delicious flavors. The pies are great! Everything else is mid grade. I would have liked to have been able to see the desserts they have donuts and desserts in the back somewhere so you don't get to see what your picking which in my opinion you taste with your eyes first. Most bakeries have a case to see all the treats this one does not. I wouldn't choose to go here. If I were passing by I might stop in. Meh... read more

We liked the almond bear claw but the Whoopi pies were dry and I felt they needed more filling. I want to give this a higher review but I cannot. If you are in the area, this is probably the best option and it won't be terrible. It was just a let down. It is clean, comfortable, and friendly but I can't do more than three stars. read more

EDITED - You can see my original review below. At that time, I gave Elaine's two stars. However, I have doubled that rating to reflect the kind response which I received from Elaine herself, apologizing for my experience and offering to credit my meal to make up for it. --- If I were evaluating the donuts alone, Elaine's would earn four or five stars. Unfortunately, there was far more to this experience, and it wasn't good. I went to Elaine's yesterday with my two young children. When we arrived, I looked for a sign instructing me whether to seat myself or to wait to be seated, but I saw none. Erring on the side of caution, I awaited guidance from the staff. While there were two employees present, neither of them acknowledged us in any way. After a few minutes, a friendly customer noticed the challenges I faced standing idly in the middle of a room with two toddlers and told me that I could seat myself. At our seats, our waitress was friendly enough, but the wait was abysmal. On the upside, she had the grace to apologize for the delay, and my donut was quite good. Unfortunately, the worst part of the experience was yet to come. For my children, I ordered the crepes. Since they are, as I said, toddlers, I told the waitress that they would be splitting the order. I requested blueberry for my daughter and cherry for my son. After the aforementioned considerable wait, our waitress brought out what appeared to be two orders of crepes. Distracted as I was by my children, I did not immediately realize this. By the time I did, the waitress had left again, and I figured I would work it out when I saw for sure what had happened on the bill. The crepes themselves were quite good (although the filling was a major weakness, coming as it did straight out of a can). Of course, my small children were barely able to eat one crepe each. When we went to pay the bill, I saw that we had in fact been charged for two orders of crepes even though I had clearly ordered only one. I clarified that I had only placed one order. The waitress disappeared behind the barrier, presumably to speak with someone higher up. When she resurfaced, she informed me that it was not possible to choose two different fillings for one order of crepes, and so my doing so had basically triggered the second order. I let her know that I wished I had been told this at the time, as I would've ordered both children the same filling so as to get just one order, as two was clearly too much food. She shrugged and said sorry. Of course, any restaurateur who values customer satisfaction would have removed the second order from our bill. I was pretty disappointed when this did not happen. I am happy to know that donuts of such quality are available north of Bangor, but, unfortunately, this experience has made me unlikely to return to Elaine's to purchase them again. read more

I ran into Elaine while out walking in the woods near Milo. She said we HAD to stop by her cafe in town on our way out and pick up some doughnuts. So we did. GREAT doughnuts. I've been there twice now, just for the doughnuts. The rest of the food on the menu is reasonably priced, and while I haven't stayed to eat, I'm sure it's also great :) Elaine offers many different flavors of doughnuts, from the standard fare to more interesting ones such as blueberry. My favorite is what she calls the "Maine doughnut" it's infused with rum and EXTREMELY good. The doughnuts are always fresh- last time I was in there I ordered the crunch doughnut (highly recommended) and she put the crunch topping on right then so it wasn't soggy and hadn't been sitting around. Nice and fresh. Next time you're in Milo, Elaine's is a must. read more

Breakfast is a feast fit for a king! Delicious comfort food, ample portions, and endless big-mug coffee refills. A cheerful, clean, bright space makes you feel "right at home." A meeting place for local residents and a welcome stop for friends and travelers just passing through. Highly recommended! I had breakfast at Elaine's a couple weeks ago and it was excellent. The food and the service were very good. I ordered a donut with my breakfast and it was the best chocolate glazed donut I've had in many years, even better than anything from Dunkin Donuts (who have gone way down in quality) or even Krispy Kreme. If you're ever in that area, stop in for breakfast, you will not regret it. read more

The staff was extremely friendly. The tables are a little close for me so i had to go outside to eat. The drinks are good, nice and cold. The food was ok. There was nothing special about the breakfasr sandwich. Wish i would have made it at home, it would not have been so dry. It was freshly made and hot. Not my go to spot, would rather have a simple sausage biscuit from McDonald. The donut was not that great. It was quite dry and from the talk around town, this was the goto spot for a freash, awesome donut.....i made better at home, sorry but ill be back for a soda but thats about it.
