While traveling for work in the Dover FoxCroft area, found this gem in the local area. Chef and his wife run this spot and we were lucky to find it on a Wednesday. Turns up Wednesday is a type of freestyle night, rotating menu, great idea and a way to test out new menu ideas. The building looks like an old style Meetinghouse that has been converted to a restaurant. It has a variety of pictures, one showing his wife posing with The Lost Kitchen chef. We called ahaead and the lady that answered said it was pretty busy but we can sit at the bar. We didn't give her our name. When we got there the place was pretty busy but the bar was pretty empty, so we sat at the bar. Chuck the bartender was super nice and gave us recommendations of where to go since we are just visiting. The drinks were on point! Lexie was our waitress and she was amazing, my sister is vegan and she got someone from the kitchen to help us out with options, then we find out she was the one we talked to and she was like i saved you ladies a table, they had tables by the bar area and so switched to the table instead of staying at the bar. The place is cute and charming, it has character. Now to the food the dinner rolls were so good, they were fresh and just melt in your mouth. The spinach and artichoke dip was amazing, the chips were warm. I don't like artichoke but I ate some and was so good, my sister's loved it. I got the stuffed haddock with sautéed mushrooms. The mushrooms were in a vinegar kind of sauce and style was cold, never had them that way, it was so good. The stuffed haddock was great as well. Almost forgot the meal came with either soup or salad and I got the chicken pot pie soup! It was to die for! You should try it! It was one of my sisters birthday and they brought out their raspberry chocolate cake and it was amazing! So flavorful, definitely recommend it! They started to sing happy birthday to my sister and the whole restaurant sang and clapped. The people, the experience, it made such a special night. I cannot say enough about how amazing the staff were! Highly recommend trying this place out when in town, call ahead as they get busy! read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem in the Maine woods. The owner is extremely accommodating if given notice and quite knowledgeable about food allergies and dietary restrictions. This was my first time dining at North & Southeats and it was wonderful. Our server Lexie was very helpful and very friendly. The food was fantastic and very fresh! I inquired about vegetarian options, the staff was very accommodating and the manager came over to answer our questions. We called ahead to make a reservation and to reserve the fresh haddock. My father is gluten free and they prepared a gluten free haddock for him. Being a group with certain food restrictions we were meant with patients and graciousness. The chef even came to visit the table which was so unexpected. The restaurant is well run, organized and clean with a good selection of beer, wine and drink options. They recommend reservations and reserving certain dishes as everything is fresh so some items are limited availability. read more

If you are truly looking for an exceptional dining experience, you need to check this place out. We were referred by a local who said to make a reservation, which we did. To say this place is a hidden gem is an understatement. Bob and Cheryl deliver a great atmosphere, the service stands above and beyond anything else you've ever experienced and the food... WOW! Bill had the prime rib and I had the lobster shrimp Wellington. The salad dressings are all made from scratch, blueberry vinaigrette and the honey mustard were both delicious. Cheryl and the waitress both checked in frequently and Bob (chef) came out to each table to inquire on our meals. This entire experience was seriously the best... I'm embarrassed (not really) to say, we came back the next night to celebrate an early birthday and our meals were haddock with seafood stuffing and a lemon pasta with scallops. The 2nd night we arrived to a birthday card for bill from the entire staff, who all signed it and finished off the meal with a surprise peanut butter pie. Both experiences were beyond what we expected. If you have the opportunity while in beautiful northern Maine, don't miss out. My husband and I made a reservation because reservations were required in order to dine here. We got seated and ordered the prime rib only to be told that that too had to be reserved. The chef came out ( later found out he was the owner ) to explain , but he was by no means your typical looking chef ; had a very unkept non hygienic appearance, no mask , atrocious breath eating his mustache , no one was practicing any covid health precaution , he was visibly angry that I questioned why we needed to make a reservation for the meal on top of the reservation for seating in which no one advised at that time . To think that this individual is in the food service industry and on top of it all he's the OWNER !! After this unpleasant encounter , the entire dining room could hear the cursing at one lady in particular of an older woman ! Before leaving , my husband went to use the restroom , and immediately noticed what appeared to be dried feces on the back of the toilet , so it appeared that it had been awhile since these restrooms were cleaned or spot checked. Excellent experience! Service was great. Had the steak bomb appetizer- it was "de bomb". Prime rib special was cooked to our specification (medium rare) and was tender and flavorful. Wow! We went here on a whim while staying at my family's cottage on the lake. It was taco night. I'm a Mainer that lives in another state now, and let's just say I was a little leery of trying tacos in an unknown restaurant in a small Maine town. But, yelp hasn't let me down yet, and people gave this place great reviews. Now I'm adding my own. Taco night was amazing! The three of us all tried different ones. It came on a platter with Mexican street corn, chips, watermelon, and a delicious mint 'Hello Dolly' square. My 8 year old son loved it also! The restaurant had cute ambiance and being in a small town, most people knew each other and were talking amongst tables giving it such a friendly atmosphere. The waitress we had was great- attentive and happy. And, the prices were very reasonable. I am coming back to Maine in a couple weeks and am already looking forward to another meal at this hidden gem. read more
