With her decline in physical and mental capabilities and being on Medicare, we admitted her to The Pines in Placerville. Overall, our experience with them has no complaints. Initially, she wasn't very happy to be there because of the differences compared to her private room at the hospital. However, I cannot fault The Pines for that, especially with how the staff treated her and our family. I have worked in a couple dozen nursing homes of various skill and funding levels; all over California and a few in Nevada. I knew what to expect from a place that we weren't paying thousands of dollars a month out of pocket for. I too, was nervous the first night she was transferred there. It can be loud; and there's alot of activity and my mom felt at times she wasn't receiving "service" as promptly as she would've liked. With that said, I very quickly began to know the staff personally and they were all friendly, professional and accommodating. It's very busy there-there is alot of residents and patients who were more worse off in ways than my mother and were far more demanding and not nice about it. The stress on the staff is alot. Yet, overall they handle it like pros. My mother was there just under two weeks before she unfortunately had to go back to the hospital and will probably not leave it alive. While she cannot personally express her feelings about The Pines, I spent everyday there, many times for most of the day and at all different times so I can speak from first hand experience: I know the reviews from others and the reputation this place has. The Director, Colby, you can tell is working very hard to turn that reputation around. The staff works very hard and I pray for their continued strength and determination in what they are doing because it is not an easy job and at times-maybe many times-seems thankless and unrewarding. Just know that for this family, you took an already difficult and emotional period of our lives and were able to ease this portion and truly give help when it was desperately needed. Special shout outs to Amy, Mikala, Colleen, Mai, Abraham, Maura, Michelle, Kelsey, Britni, Bill, Christina, Stephen, Samantha and so many more there that I can't remember your name or didn't catch it when we met: I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did for my mother. If she was capable of it, I know she would personally express how thankful and appreciative she was for your care, concern and dignity during this very difficult time of her life.

Very rude to the workers very rude to the patients. Not sure why they would have somebody like her there as anybody would get a bad impression just to meet her. As an aside, it appears that the activities Director is MIA most of the time and some of the patients are going without any activities sometimes for days. Do not believe the post on Facebook that that's just once in a while that they get it together, but they are definitely noncompliant with state laws. They need to replace individuals who do bad things and don't do their job.

It is heartbreaking to have one's own mother who was loved and cared for at home suddenly placed in a facility like this by an uncaring relative and to watch the mental and physical deterioration it is causing. My mom says she does not sleep well anymore, the screams of Altzheimer's afflicted housemates wake her at night. She gets up and rushes to their bedsides, trying to comfort them. The facility's owner was asked by my mom's Dr. to set up a home visit to monitor a medical problem she has, but she failed to do so. Often the phone is not answered when I try to call. Visiting is unpleasant in my mom's cramped room which contains er small bed, chair and a porta-potty. Although this place claims to accept pets, my mom was not allowed to take any of her pets which include small birds, small dogs and a cat. If you want your loved one to live surrounded by confused elderly people who their families have decided "cannot live at home", then this place will appeal to you!

Chavon, who got my medications released. Sophia, CNA, was always helpful, and Courtney, who did my home visit, and Jenn, the discharge nurse, thank you. Armand, who helped me shower, even stopped by once because he'd seen my call light on for a longer time than was usual. Don't want to forget Sean, who was finally able to get me some decent food! Once he got involved, I had something that was actually enjoyable to eat in every meal. Last, but not least, Robyn, DOR, was wonderfully helpful in answering my questions. I have been attending group therapy for grief support at Snowline Hospice for approximately 5…read moremonths, due to my father passing last year. This group has helped me in so many ways, I don't even know where to start. The group leader Betsy is kind, intuitive, and above all else extremely well educated and knowledgeable in her field. She has taught me and the other group members several ways on how to express and manage our grief. She is a truly wonderful person and anyone who attends her groups are extremely lucky. The compassion of the individuals who attend the group is also something to mention, they are so supportive and encouraging. I would highly recommend looking into grief therapy with Snowline for anyone who is on the fence.

My husband likes his caregivers and enjoys various stimulating activities, including appropriate activities in the assisted living portion of Oakmont, such as music performances and fitness activities. Two factors influencing our choice of Oakmont were the range of care/services and proximity to family. We didn't want my husband to have to move to another residence as his Alzheimer's Dementia progresses and we wanted family to be able to visit easily and often. In addition, Oakmont of Folsom is small and intimate, and residents and their families get to know and support each other. Classes and activities are offered to families covering a range of helpful topics as we adjust to life changes with our loved ones. In general, Oakmont of Folsom has exceeded our expectations.

They have lots of activities, an awesome pool and spa ( I would swim with him frequently), beautiful grounds with chairs and tables where you can sit with a cocktail and take in the beautiful view of the small lake and the surroundings. We both thought the food was great in the dining room. If you have a craving for something and they have the fix'ins they will make it for you. I had mentioned to one of the waitress' I had such a craving for a rootbeer float. A while later she brought one out to me. Such thoughtfulness. They have two banquets during the year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Buffet style, Prime rib, turkey, poached salmon with all the trimmings with desserts galore. When my husband started declining I contacted Hospice and between Hospice, me and the Caregivers at Eskaton he was in very good hands. The caregivers and med techs were wonderful. They treated my husband like he was their own grandfather. He was treated with dignity, love and some shed tears when he passed. He very much enjoyed the people he met. Some becoming good friends and they would meet mornings for breakfast. He was very well taken care of. I have no regrets.........
