I'm downgrading my original review (5 stars). I WAS very happy with this place. I even convinced my husband to start taking his clothes here. The last 2 times I came back, the service has been atrocious. I brought in a sweater for her (Trang-the owner) to fix the zipper. She priced it at $4. I thought that was unusually cheap for a broken zipper but OK, that's fine. I came back a week later and she showed me the sweater. It was zipped up so I checked it of course before leaving and it was STILL broken. Apparently, I paid $4 for her to just zip it up. Her reply, "Oh. I need to replace it." That'll be $12. Duh!!! I was pissed but I decided to give her a 2nd chance to redeem herself. On 6/22, I came back with a skirt to be hemmed. She said to pick it up 6/27. I wasn't in a rush so I came back today, 7/2. She spent 5 min searching all over for it. She finally found it in the original bag that I had brought it in, with pins still in it. It had apparently been forgotten. Instead of admitting to the oversight, she shifted the blame by saying, "Did I tell you to come back this Thurs or next Thurs?" I pointed out that the receipt says plainly right there that I dropped it off 6/22 so it was supposed to be done LAST Thur. So I will be making yet ANOTHER unnecessary trip back. I'm done here. So not only did they lose one customer but my husband won't be coming back there either. Her prices are great but I'd pay double that for honest and reliable service. read more

I feel bad writing low star reviews, but I have to admit I had an extremely frustrating, difficult time with Eldo. Despite her kindness, I doubt I will be returning. I went to Eldo for a custom bridesmaids dress. Overall she did really well with the fittings, adjustments, and the craftsmanship. She was also great about what would look well together, recommendations on cuts, sizing, etc. She was overall very nice and welcoming. As for scheduling, she is absolutely terrible. She scheduled weeks in advance for me to return to try on the initial dress and when I showed up she did not have my dress done. Given I had to drive 45 minutes to make this visit, her unacceptable excuse of "I got too busy" is not a legitimate reason for not having it complete. I would have been fine with it if she had the courtesy to call and let me know if wasn't done. On this note, I highly recommend calling a day or two beforehand to check in, and even calling the day of before making the trip. Given she has had some good reviews, I may just happen to be a rare case due to the custom dress making. A simple hem or dry cleaning she may be great for. Regardless I will not be returning, but I appreciate her services and the pretty dress she made! P.S. Parking is a bit of a pain. There's not a lot to park in, so you will have to find street parking. read more

Tran, the tailor at this location is a master of her craft! Two years ago, a friend who had her bridal gown altered by Tran, suggested I take mine there too for alterations. Before making a final decision, I shopped around and was outraged at the prices and turn around times that were given to me from other alteration places. So, I decided to take my friend's word for it and made an appointment. Tran was very helpful, friendly, patient and confident about her work. I appreciated that she gave me options when it came to choosing a bustle for my dress, altering the neckline, etc. She'd pinned everything and ask me what I thought, rather than saying, "it can only be done this way," as another tailor told me elsewhere. She takes her time and makes sure everything is perfect. I also bought a veil from David's Bridal and I wasn't 100% sure about it. She told me she could make me a veil in any style I'd like and have it ready by the time my dress alterations were completed. And the best part was her pricing! Weddings are expensive already, so I was prepared for another expense (alterations). She was very affordable, I was so surprised. Today, I brought a friend to this shop to get her bridal gown fitted for her upcoming wedding in a month. Tran helped her out and it just reminded me of the awesome work she did on my dress for my big day. If you need QUALITY alterations at AFFORDABLE prices by someone who is EXTREMELY SKILLED... I broke my coat around the armpit ie.at least three pieces of cloth connection part that I have no idea how to sew it. I brought into the shop and they were able to fix it perfectly , ie like new and I can't even see the sewing part, for me to pick up the next day and so reasonable price! read more

So I was really hesitant about coming here since the reviews here were short, sweet, and from reviewers that didn't have a high review count so I took the risk and had 2 pairs of jeans hemmed just to try her out. Oh, and finding her place was so hard to find at first because it's such a small place connected to a Salon or something. She does such an excellent job! She made the effort to make sure the hemming matches the original colors that are on the seams already. :) :) I brought 2 or 3 more pairs to her for such a great price for her quality at $6/pair. So now comes a bigger challenge to get my bridesmaid dress fixed since the previous tailor that my sister's friend brought the dress to didn't do a very good job, ended up constricting my rib cage since they took in so much. I brought in the dress along with the stuff my mom wanted me to bring to Eldo to get hemmed, and there was a lot. This was a Tuesday and I told the tailor what was happening with the dress. She has a great eye for noticing the way clothing is supposed to fit our bodies. Hands down she's the best!! The dress was flawless and fit perfectly for my sister's wedding :) Tried and true! I first went to this place with my boyfriend because he wanted to find a tailoring place near SJSU. He ended up taking one pair of dress pants in. And the moment we walked into the place we were greeted and the women took her time when explaining what she would do to fix his pants. We decided to save our impression of the place till after we picked up his pants and in result, this place gets the five stars it deserves. After my boyfriends and my first visit, I've brought other items here to be tailored and left with exceptional work done. Nothing less. Her low prices make it all the better too! But do beware! There is only street parking, but if you're smart, you'll park in the neighborhood area to the left of the place. It's free parking, so you won't have to worry about getting a ticket. read more

This place has always been my go-to place for getting my pants hemmed. Haven't had any other jobs done here. In other words, this review is solely based on the hemming she's done on my dress pants and jeans. Price is very reasonable! I've had an experience with other tailors, at a much higher cost, where they didn't deliver my goods within the time frame that they said they would, so I've only used those places once; I've never had this experience here. Some people may knock a star or half a star off due to parking, but I seem to be lucky whenever I go as I always seem to have a spot whether I'm in my truck or Prius. read more

I will not bring my stuff here again. It's not so much as the quality (she does a good job on the alterations), but there are a string of situations that happened that make me want to choose another alterations company. I brought my 2 dresses in for alterations and another dress for dry cleaning. Told her what I wanted and was promised that everything would be done by Wednesday (took them in on a Monday). Wednesday comes around, I call in to make sure everything is ready and is told that only the alterations are ready, not the dry cleaning. Ok. I visit her store, make sure everything is ok and was told that the dry cleaning will be done on Thursday. Fine. I proceeded to tell her that she used to charge me $6 for hemming and don't know why she is charging me $13 to hem a dress now. She blabbed on about the material and whatnot (it was cotton...........), so I decided that I would just pay it because I wasn't in the mood to argue on and on about price. THAT BEING SAID...there is NO price list!! Please know that she can change the prices at her own leisure! I know that is exactly what she did with me. So anyways, thursday comes, I call in to make sure the dry cleaning is ready and she tells me no. Why? Because she took my expensive dress to a friend to have it dry cleaned!!! Wtf! I angrily told her that I had no idea that she was going to take my dress elsewhere and demanded that she get my dress done that day. She asked me "oh are you leaving tomorrow? Why do you need the dress today?" It's none of her business why I needed the dress!!! I just told her "yes I'm leaving tomorrow I need the dress today" (I'm not leaving anywhere tomorrow lol) because I wanted my dress asap and didn't trust it with her anymore. I walk into the place to get my dress and did a quick inspection to make sure the dress looked ok. It looked cleaner than when I brought it so I took it home. Upon closer inspection, I see burn marks throughout the top portion of the dress. Ahhhh!! I'm so so upset. I wish I can get compensated for the burn marks but that probably isn't going to happen. read more

Eldo is so nice and she gives great customer service. My sister came here looking for a quick fix for her senior prom last year, and eldo altered it for her in just one day because my sister needed it. I've came here multiple times for alterations for my dresses and I was always so satisfied. She altered my long dress the first time for a good price and by when I needed. She also shortened and puffed up my prom dress like I wanted! She was the only place that was up for it, and she did an amazing job. Read so many good reviews here, so decided to take my three new pairs of jeans in to have the gap in the back of the waists altered. The owner measured me in each pair. Even so, I had to come back 3 times as they weren't altered correctly. End result: One pair had the waist cut so small they were ruined, 2nd pair was still too loose, 3rd pair was okay. It was my feeling that she takes on too many jobs and passes some off to her assistant who clearly does not know how to do the job. I would never go back again. If anyone knows of someone who does a great job removing the gap from the back waist of jeans (you ladies with curves know what I'm talking about), please let me know. read more

Quality of their work gets 4 stars but their service gets 2 stars. I brought 3 pair of lined dress pants here to get hemmed on a tuesday. The lady told me they will be ready by saturday morning. i stopped by at 2pm to get my stuff and they could not find my stuff =[ After 15 minutes of searching i found my bag lying on the floor with the stuff still in it, not hemmed. the lady told me to come back in 2 hours to pick up the pants. she was apologetic about it so i was find with it. I came back at 4:30pm and they are still not done. i had to wait for 30 minutes to get them. I was pretty annoyed by then. I liked their work but won't be coming back because of the unreliability. Not only does Le do an amazing job, she also saves you beaucoup bucks! I was referred to Le by a friend to alter my wedding dress. Instead of spending $500 at the bridal boutique, I went to Eldo's instead. Le used to work at David's Bridal so I trusted her with the most important dress I will ever wear in my life. My wedding dress turned out perfect and she saved me over $400! I now bring all my tailor and alteration needs to her. Called, she asked me to come in & she'll give me the pricing. Being a "store front" business I understand you have to make more money than "home front". Plz note, I will go buy the fabric. For a "plain white collar shirt" it's $40 for labor, without the collar it would cost $30 in labor. Seriously, added collar is $10? Located so close to San Jose State University, Eldo understands that many of us are college students and don't have a lot to spend. A year or so ago, I brought in a red velvet 80s party dress I bought from the thrift store Moon Zoom to have the waist tucked in and straps shortened. The dress is a sweetheart bust with spaghetti straps with tulle underneath the slightly pleated knee-length skirt. It was beautiful. I did feel a little funny carrying around this nice dress through a heavily trafficked area around the block due to the lack of parking. Eldo, a soft spoken slender Vietnamese lady, and a man were working behind the counter. Eldo came over to appraise my situation, then asked me to try on the dress. To my surprise, she complimented my arm and back tattoo. I wondered if she just liked to compliment her clients, but that is irrelevant! As I turned for her, we talked about Yelp reviews. She quoted me $12 and asked me to come in a week. I came back and the dress was all ready - fits very nicely! I gave her $15 anyways. I have been spring cleaning lately (even though it's May) and I have not been happy with my choice of clothing over the years. I started to try on my shirts that I always loved, but they did not flatter my body at all. I had to face it, they looked too big on me. I decided to call Eldo Tailoring to get a quote on my shirts since the alteration shop near my house were charging me a ridiculous amount of money for hemming one shirt. After speaking with her, she was very polite and friendly asking me what type of shirts I wanted altered. When I came in, she immediately recognized me from the phone and worked her magic with my blouses. After she pinned me up, I went on my way. She said my shirts would be available on Monday, however she did not make this deadline. Fortunately, she called me beforehand and asked if I could pick up my shirts the following day. I did not complain and I came in on Tuesday to find myself loving the work she did. I'm happy with the finishing product. Everyone should check her out for your tailoring needs. I take all my tailoring here (which is a lot since I'm so short). Trang is very friendly and has great customer service. With that said I think maybe she's a little too busy and/or takes on too many things. I too have showed up on the day my tailoring was supposed to be completed only to find it's never been touched. However in the two times that happened she completed the tailoring right then and there while I sat waited. The last time I had a dress tailored and taken in for a wedding, I made the mistake of not trying it on before I left her shop. The hem was perfect, however she never took it in so on the day of the wedding I was left with a dress that was too big for me (this is my own mistake because I never tried it on before the day of the wedding. I'm confident had I tried it on and brought it back to where she would've fixed it). Despite the few problems that I've had with Eldo, I trust her to do good work, her prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back. read more

This is the absolute best place to get your alterations done! I've gotten jackets, dress shirts, and slacks adjusted for numerous formal occasions, and they always fit perfectly every time! The main woman who works the front knows exactly what to look for when adjusting clothing. I once gave her a blazer and she was making measurements to make the armpits higher, as well as the part of the jacket that goes around the waist slimmer. At no other alterations place have they ever taken that level of initiative to work things out with me! She said it was a relatively difficult job though, which could explain why others don't offer; maybe the competitors don't even know how to get the job done successfully. To top things all off, she gave me a discount since it was my first time ever being there, and it was done within the week. I highly recommend this spot if you're interested in looking good in your clothes. Had to get a dress shortened and hemmed in time for a wedding. I called ahead and brought the dress in on a Monday night. She had me try it on and just marked where the dress touched the floor. She was a life-saver: I picked up a gown at Macy's Valley Fair for a formal event. The deal was too good to pass up, but it just needed some tailoring. The people who have reviewed her previously on yelp! had it right. Her pricing came to way less than I was expecting, and was ready and waiting on the day she said it would be. For less than the price of an oil change, she had transformed my Macy's gem into a gorgeous dress that looked like it was custom made for me! Now this is what a business should be! I found this place on Yelp two years ago, and based on the very positive reviews I decided to use them to shorten the arms on an incredibly nice tweed jacket I had bought. I confess I was nervous, having spent as much as I did on the jacket, but I need not have worried, as the quality of the work done was exceptional. I honestly don't know how an alteration that was so complex could be so invisible! Since then I've taken all my routine items here, mostly pants that need shortening, and the work has always been done exactly when we agreed it would be, and the prices are extremely fair. I'm very glad that I did because, now, my suit looks better than ever. The lady (I think the owner) greeted me and quickly got to work. It's like she knew what I wanted done before I even told her. Since the suit was a little big for me, I had to have 4-5 different things done so I was a little nervous but I couldn't have asked for a better tailoring job. I went to Eldo's based on the positive ratings on Yelp! and proximity to my house. I had two pairs of pants and a skirt that needed to be taken in at the waist (story of my life). The skirt had been in my closet for a year because I dread the hassle of getting it done. No more! This place was awesome. The woman behind the counter was super friendly and professional, and the work was GREAT. I got my clothes back today and I can't even see where they were altered but they fit perfectly. The owner/seamstress of this lil shop is the sweetest, most efficient and affordable tailor I've ever met! I already spent $250 on a bridesmaid dress and most places charge a ridiculous amount just to hem it. She got my dress done in less than 2 weeks although I probably could have picked it up sooner if I wanted to. We chatted a bit and I got to know a bit about her background in her work. Turns out she used to be the tailor for David's bridal and Trudy's over in Campbell. She does an excellent job despite her low prices. Eldo's is great. The staff is friendly and efficient when they take your measurements. The prices are unbelievable. I'm never hemming a pair of pants again. For less than $5 they'll do it for me. I bought a pre-owned suit and it needed some tailoring to really fit well. I think the entire thing ended up costing less than $20. The only downside to Eldo's is that they sometimes don't have things ready on the projected finish day. If your job is very time sensitive, make sure to let them know and check in a day in advance of picking it up. For things you don't need right away, give it a few extra days and things work out.
