Michael has been my main tailor since college. At first it was just custom ao dai and recently I've been getting alterations. I even took my friend to him for her bridal ao dai. The one thing that stands out the most is how comfortable he makes me feel as a customer. It's always about what fits my body, proportions, and style best. After nearly a decade of working with me, Michael's gotten a great sense of all three of those things, and I've never felt dissatisfied with a dress. Cannot recommend enough that everyone get a custom dress from here, whether it's an ao dai, qipao, or western dress. It really makes a difference when clothes are made to fit you! And the selection of fabric never misses!

After calling multiple places about my skirt zipper issue, Ao Dai Bao Han was the only place that responded quickly and was willing to help. Michael was very kind, welcoming, and professional throughout the whole process. He explained the different repair options honestly and gave recommendations without making me feel pressured at all. Really appreciated the amazing customer service and how helpful he was. Definitely recommend!

He responded. She has gotten her dress shorter. They have a great work ethics. We needed it sooner; and they worked extra hours to get it done.

Ao Dai Bao Han provided a great experience from start to finish. I needed the cuff on my work blazer altered and they delivered exactly as requested with a 24-hour express turnaround. The quality of work was solid and met my expectations. Michael, the owner was personable, professional, and communicated clearly during my initial search, providing a quote range of $60-$140. Highly recommend Ao Dai Bao Han for quality work and prompt, reliable service.

Everyone was obsessed with our Ao Dai!! My husband and I truly felt like THE bride and groom! Bao Han's Ao Dai are literally show room, show stopping Ao Dai's, you will definitely stand out and in a good way! Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!

We have visited this shop frequently in these past few weeks to alter many outfits because of our wedding, and we felt welcomed every time. Michael, who is the owner, is not only kind & sweet, but also honest and communicative. It's nice that he is able to translate between us and his staff; sometimes it's hard to support local small business when you don't speak the same language. I really appreciate how affordable and flexible they are as a business. Our wedding in the past weekend would not have been successful if we didn't have Michael & the team's support to alter our lehengas, dresses, and pants. Michael also helped design the Chinese style jacket tailored to me, and I loved it so much. I never thought someone could make this happen when traditional clothings tend to be binary, but Michael did. We are so happy to be supporting a local business who truly cares and is queer-friendly. Many of my friends have asked about my jacket after the wedding, and I will keep recommending this place anytime. Plus, Michael rescued Hiro the store cat, and he is such a friendly kitty! Definitely the reflection of the good characters of this business. Thank you Michael!

Micheal and his team alternated my wedding dress by shorten the front and tighten my bust area. Michael was very meticulous on how my wedding dress flowed and took his time with my appointments! Loved my dress!

Prior to an upcoming tea ceremony my husband and I were invited to, we originally just popped in to look for ao dais and ended up getting a custom ao dai and rental. I tried on a few dresses that their intern helped me pick, as I was not familiar with ao dais. She was very helpful in answering all my questions, including how it should properly fit and what the current cultural trends were. The shop also has heels you can try on to help with measuring for alterations (especially helpful if, like me, you forget to bring the ones you plan to wear on the day of the event!). The ao dai I picked would have needed alterations, but the owner, Michael, explained that it would cost about the same to make the alterations compared to making a custom one. After he showed me these new fabrics he had at his warehouse overseas, I opted to go with a unique purple-colored, custom ao dai. Personally, I love the feel and look of the fabric, and it fits perfectly -- not to mention, as someone that went to fashion school, the sewing quality is really top notch! My husband picked out a purple rental, and we had multiple people at the tea ceremony ask where we had gotten our outfits. We told them exactly what I'm about to tell you: We went to Ao Dai Bao Han, and we'd definitely go back for all of our ao dai-related needs. Michael, Hero/Hiro (the cat), and his team are great, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. I honestly love it so much, I can't wait to have a chance to wear my ao dai again!

I had a great experience here getting a velvet cheongsam I ordered online tailored for an Argentine tango dance at my wedding. Due to the nature of Argentine tango, I needed both a back slit (lower) and a side slit (high), and the side slit for dancing is on the opposite side of the traditional cheongsam slit which is usually on the left. The store I ordered from only does slits on the left side, so I ordered the version with no slits at all. I asked multiple tailors and many of them took a single look at the cheongsam and turned me away saying that it couldn't be done, too little fabric etc. One even told me I ordered too cheaply online which is why they couldn't do it (excuse me???). Finally I took my dress to Ao Dai Bao Han in San Jose and Michael the owner took a look at it and said it was perfectly doable, and they would just reinforce the slit slightly with extra fabric. Some of the seamstresses there only spoke Vietnamese, but Michael spoke English quite well and was easy to communicate with. They had me wear the cheongsam in store and mark where I needed the slits. The price was very reasonable and they were quite fast. The first time I came to pick up, the side slit was actually not high enough. It was high enough as a typical cheongsam slit, but for tango kicks it has to be pretty much at the point where your leg bends! Michael was mildly scandalized by how high I was requesting the slit to be and asked me several times if I was sure hahaha But upon my reassurance they were able to speedily redo the slit for me to pick up a few days later at no extra cost, and it turned out perfect during my wedding dance. They also mentioned that they often do alterations and even custom dresses for dancers in the Bay Area, and told me I could go to them next time if I needed them to recreate a specific latin dance dress from scratch! (Unrelatedly for anyone who's wondering, the underwear does show a little during tango dances - traditionally you either get a leotard style dress or the exact same color underwear as your dress so it's not too obvious, and you do need to pin the side of the underwear to right above the slit so that the dress doesn't slide way high above it, which would be indeed scandalous! XD)

We celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary with a vow renewal celebration in Maui. The dress code was all white. We did a mini tea ceremony for our parents. I wanted to wear an all white Ao Dai since I asked everyone to wear white (my original was red). If you have strong preferences of what you like, I would recommend having a lot of printed pictures and circling the details you like of each sample. I am more relaxed and chill and I just trusted Michael to make me look pretty lol. I showed him some dresses I liked but I kind of said I don't know why I like them I just like them. I said "beachy, lightweight, and I want a big hat." When I came to pick up the dress a week before the wedding (I ordered it 6 months in advance), I was surprised. It was heavy and I wasn't sure if it was what I asked for. It was A LOT! But then I wore it. And when I saw the pictures, I was speechless. I could see all the parts I said I liked, they were part of my dress. It was really perfect. This is how the process went for me: Call and make an appointment Arrive, try on some samples Show him pictures of what I liked He tells me how he is going to design in He goes to Vietnam Come back for first fitting 3-4 weeks before the wedding A couple alterations Pick up dress I think twice I came for appointment and there was a miscommunication. The first time Michael went with his mom to Orange County so he missed my appt. The second time, the alterations were not ready. It doesn't matter for me because I'm local and I'm also chill about everything since it was just my vow renewal. If you live far, I would just recommend calling to confirm the appt before you drive over! Overall, I think you can be involved in the process as much as you want. For me, I just trust Michael. And it's pretty much guaranteed you will look amazing. Also bonus was that the dresses are made in my hometown of Hai Phong!

I love that it offers a true boutique shopping experience without the boutique price tag, and I can usually count on finding something I love. Unfortunately, my experience today (3/18) fell short of what I've come to expect over the years. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted, which is something I've always appreciated in the past--it really sets a welcoming tone. Jocelyn eventually helped me into a dressing room, but along the way there were several missed opportunities for basic customer service. I was browsing with my arms full, and at no point was I offered help holding items or starting a fitting room, which would have made shopping easier. When I was ready to try things on, I was asked to sort and count my items due to the 6-garment limit. I completely understand and respect that policy as a way to manage inventory in a small business. However, during that process, a few items fell behind the counter and weren't addressed at the time. Once in the dressing room, there was no check-in to see how things were fitting or if I needed different sizes or colors--something I've consistently experienced and appreciated during past visits. I did ask to swap out items, and Jocelyn was helpful and pleasant in doing so. At checkout, the items that had fallen behind the counter were brought up again, and I was asked if I wanted to try them on. Since I was already dressed, I declined, but it would have been helpful if those had been handled earlier. There was only one other customer in the store, who had already checked out by the time I was in the fitting room, so it didn't seem particularly busy. I've always associated Bombshell Boutique with attentive, thoughtful service--being greeted, having items held, and receiving support in the dressing room. That level of care makes a big difference and is part of why I've been a loyal customer for so long. This visit just felt a bit lackluster in comparison. I'll definitely be back, but I hope this was just an off day.

It's a cute boutique offering California-made items such as pottery, clothes, skin care products, jewelry, art, and more. The store is nicely organized and their items are neatly displayed. A table with pottery near the entrance caught my eye right away. I also enjoyed checking out the flavored salts and oils for cooking, room diffusers, wall art, and jewelry. I was surprised to see they carry the wonderful Osea skin care products as I didn't know they were made in California. I ended up buying a ceramic spoon rest, room spray, and a tiny gold "diamond" ring. Their prices were reasonable. The store owner rang up my items and was very friendly and nice. I will definitely be back to shop here again.

I bought a tank top and it was $42 which was pretty steep but I didn't mind. Until today, I had washed the top I purchased ONCE and after only 2 or 3 wears it starts pilling almost everywhere! Sometimes the my washer does this which isn't avoidable, but I had washed it with like colors and fabric types so it shouldn't have done this. There's also weird lines in the fabric now so not sure if I would wear this outside my house anymore.

I had some clothes in my hand, and McKenzie (i hope i spelled her name right), but she offered to hold them for me and take it to the fitting room for me. When i went, she had the clothes set and informed me about how some tops should fit and gave me styling ideas! She offered to take the clothes i liked to the register to speed up the transaction and ordered the clothes they didn't have my size in. Overall, great experience and I would definitely come back! I would say the only downside is no mirrors in the fitting rooms and the cashier being on her phone. Although I do understand the no mirrors as it allows them to give you their thoughts on the clothes. Thank you Mckenzie!

The service in the fitting room was really nice! Thanks!…read moreThey kept bringing me new clothes--even though I had explained exactly what I needed. I purchased six items, thinking the price was fair given the high quality of the clothing. I had specifically asked for natural fabrics--but look what I actually received... I didn't pay close attention to the labels at the time of purchase, but when I got home, I checked the composition and discovered that every single garment is made of plastic--100% polyester. I intend to return everything, as I have no desire to put plastic directly against my skin. The cashier seemed pleasant enough to me. I simply wanted to make my purchases quickly and without any hassle, but the local staff seems intent only on ignoring customers. Even though--being a Tuesday--it wasn't busy at all, I still had to wait for someone at the register to finally pay attention to me and be willing to ring me up!
