I was recommended Pollys by my housemate. I got two cargo pants hemmed. I walked in and tried the pants on at Pollys with Birkenstocks, but the woman who helped me was able to mark and adjust the length of the pants as if I were wearing sneakers. I did not need a rush on these pants but they did ask me what day I needed the pants by, which I found super helpful. I got 2 items tailored here, a pair of jeans and a bridesmaid dress, both shortening the length. I am so happy with the results. I never used to wear the jeans before because they looked ridiculous on me, but they are now my favorite jeans! I appreciated the tailor's patience with me while I asked questions and her honesty when I asked her opinions. Originally, I was considering having her not only shorten the length of the jeans but also make it less flared. She advised against this, which saved me money and protected the integrity of the jeans as well as the style. For the dress, after we agreed upon the length, I asked the tailor if she thought that steaming the dress would help get rid of some blemishes on the front (a strange puckering of the material that may have occurred during shipping). She kindly offered to steam the dress for me before I picked it up. When I came to pick it up, the blemishes were gone! This was the first tailor that I went to, so I don't know how much these things usually cost, but I certainly think what they charged me was fair, especially with how happy I am with the outcome. A very long story, last minute my very tall daughter needed a 2nd dress, when the first dress didn't make it back from alterations (at a different place). I brought in a very long dress for alterations and Phuong understood exactly how I wanted to tailor the fit. (1) She hemmed and removed 5 inches of fabric off the bottom of the dress. (2) She shortened the length of the shoulder straps because it originally looked very baggy on my small frame. (3) She repurposed some of the fabric cut off from the long shoulder strap and used it to help seal the center of the dress (it was originally a very deep V-plunge type of cut). After the alterations, the dress fits perfectly. I am so happy that I can finally wear this dress without tripping over it or worrying about revealing anything if I bend over. This place is AWESOME!! I washed a dress on delicate at home, and the colors bled into the white part of my dress. I couldn't get the stains out and was very sad since I had just bought the dress and hadn't worn it yet. I immediately went onto YELP and put out a general message with pics of my dress out to various dry cleaners to see who could help me. Polly cleaners was the only one who responded kindly and said they could possibly help. Mina, the manager of Polly Cleaners, messaged me and gave me a possible quote. I came in and spoke to the manager's sister and she said she would try to get the stains out with a special liquid. She also stated that if she was not able to get them out, I would not be charged. An amazing treasure! Two suits entered, one suit left and then the other suit left too! Polly Cleaners is Thunderdome for dirt and the fountain of youth for fabric! One suit had paint on the back of the jacket and the other a moth hole in the trousers... Not only was the paint gone but the hole was so perfectly patched I had to get a photo to remember where it was because I couldn't find the repair! One suit is more than 30 years old but after a visit to Polly Cleaners it looks newly tailored. Even the lining which had yellowed with age is a brilliant white like the day it was made. I don't always, well rarely, to be honest almost never, do I believe reviews but in the case of Polly Cleaners the best comments don't capture the quality of work or the value, while the worst comments, I suspect, are unjustified.
