I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. That did not work either, so I finally gave it up and drove to work every day. I never felt good about it, because it is a disaster environmentally, and it really makes not much sense to me to drive to work for a couple of miles a day. Anyway, forward 8 years, and now I have a feeling the city is more prepared for bikes. A quick google showed me Bacardi Bikes, and I liked what I read, so I headed there and met FIDEL. I told Fidel what my situation was, and he showed me a couple of options that made sense and fit my budget. I tried several bikes and finally decided to get the Fyxation pixel. He did not have the color I wanted, so he ordered it for me. In less than a week, the bike was ready to rock 'n' roll. The whole experience with Fidel was very pleasant. He is very knowledgeable, kind and gentle, and does not try to sell you an expensive bike, but the bike you need. Also, although the shop is not huge, I must say the selection was very good and the bikes Fidel has at the store are really all good looking. I paid with cash and he gave me 5%, just FYI. I am happy with my new bike and confident this is the bike I need. I am also happy I purchased it at Bacardi Bikes and I strongly encourage anybody looking to get a bike to stop by and talk to Fidel. A friend and I took our bikes in for a tune up ($65 a piece, which already is pricier than many…read moreother bike shops). I typically put around 20 miles a day on my bike and during the summer I bike 50+ a day regularly, so I was willing to spend the extra cash to make sure it was ready for the season. When I brought it in, I mentioned that my bike had been in an accident and I was worried about the fork because it looked bent and I was interested in purchasing a new one if possible. He assured me it was fine and not necessary and he would have them tuned up in a few days. After picking them up, we discovered that my friends tire was completely flat. We called them and they said they must've forgotten and offered to do it if we brought it back in. That should absolutely be part of a $65 tune up. No accommodations for the fact that we had to spend more time and gas to get there. When we picked up the bikes again, the chain was off and my friend, annoyed with the whole situation, took his bike and decided to do it himself. But here's where its gets worse and where I get livid. Not trusting this guys work, we took our bikes to a different shop who straight up told us that Bacardi basically robbed us. He also said that my fork is completely shot, showed me why it's dangerous to ride in its current state and refused to do any work on my bike until I got a new fork. This man barely touched our bikes and was willing to let me take off on a bike that was dangerous to ride, after taking $130 of our money and even more of our time. I don't know how this place runs a business. And if you'd like the number of the shop that actually helped us out, just message me, please don't go to Bacardi.

I came to the store to get a tire changed. The staff seemed knowledgeable. The store had a large…read moreselection of parts, tools, and other miscellaneous equipment. I asked if they could use my current tube, which was not damaged, in the new tire. They said they had to use their own tube in the new tire which is very fair. The new tube even comes included in the labor cost of changing the tire. However, I wish they asked me if I wanted my old tube back before discarding it, as many bike shops do. I can excuse this if the tube was punctured, but it wasn't. I could have used that as a spare tube or something. Tubes are around $10 so not a huge deal but that would've been nice. I also wished they asked me if I preferred a certain tire pressure before inflating my tire to an arbitrary PSI. Sure, some people don't have a preferred pressure, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Especially if someone is purchasing a $100+ tire. Again, not a huge deal as I can just change it at home but would've been nice. Overall, still a good experience.
