Horrible business practices, no transparency and will overcharge you for certain! First off, Their communication is horrible, I had my car towed to them to get the oxygen sensors fixed, he got short with me when I told him that the problem was the O2 sensors, and said he does t want to trust someone else's opinion, but then changed his attitude a bit after telling me it was a fuel trim problem and realizing I gave him correct info. Then he told me on Thursday it would be fixed the following Tuesday, called me Tuesday morning and told me he didn't realize there were 4 O2 sensors instead of 2 and then doubled the price ($1300 from $650) then when I started talking like the mechanic I used to be, and mentioning the price of all parts and everything he said he would do it for $300 labor if I got the parts (so around $800 total). But expected ME to go out and get all the parts, if I was gonna do that I have other mechanics who will order the parts and do labor for $700 because it's a pretty easy job to replace the O2 sensors. I decided this guy had bad business practices and didn't want to deal with him, so I went to go pick my car up, which he then tried to charge me $150 which really got me mad, I said charge me $150 for not doing ANYTHING to my car, ME telling YOU what needs to be fixed, wasting 5 days of my time, and on top of that attempting to massively overcharge me, no sir. He got a little angry and said fine take the car, which we then spent the next 30 minutes looking for the key to my car which he couldn't find and misplaced. Then he tried to say that he's been cool with me and let's leave on good terms and kept saying he was cool and didn't charge me the $150. Me pay him for wasting my time and literally not doing a SINGLE thing worth paying for? Nope. Find another mechanic! Not worth it, there are PLENTY other out there that will be completely transparent with you and not waste your time. read more

I dont know why it took me so long for me to write this review. I brought my car here three times in the past and they have always done excellent work. The work is dont diligently and the staff there is so courteous and prompt. Harry is as honest and friendly as they come. He assures you that the work will be done and makes sure you are well taken care of. Thank you to Electroleon and Harry for answering my prayers and fixing my car after yeeeeears of trial and error with other places. My car had a problem of overheating every summer and visited other shops who would charge me for different things that never fixed the problem. Not until I came to Electroleon and not only did they have my car ready literally just two days after, but my car hadn't overheated at all since. I'd barely walked a few yards before Harry waved me down and let me know that the problem was actually just that the dimmer for the dash had accidentally gotten pressed at some point! I felt a little silly that I'd thought something more serious was wrong, but was thrilled that Harry let me know right away (before I went to go rent a car for the days mine was supposed to be in the shop) and that he'd been honest about the fact that the problem was a free and easy fix. I had a major accident and had my 2000 Mazda Miata towed to Electroleon. Worst mistake. 12K later and the repairs are very shoddy. Pass door doesn't close right and the wind is deafening on the freeway. Drive door wasn't replaced or even repaired correctly and there's a serious gap where the door hits the front panel. Side mirror wasn't even attached correctly and is off kilter. Trim wasn't even replaced. The paint is peeling and bubbling, obviously they didn't even prep the car before painting it. Harry is slick and promises to repair everything, but nothing is fixed correctly. Oh, and it took him 6 months to do the shoddy work. Extremely disappointing experience and he couldn't even give me an itemized bill. STAY AWAY!! read more

I was pretty gullible and trusting when I first got to town. I was stupidly optimistic that I had found a good place for car repair because of my own ego and the location. I got porked to the tune of almost 3k and I was probably a "dream pigeon" for this place as I had no allies and had to take their word on "all the work" I supposedly needed done. I did have a guy look at the vehicle after the fact and he said it looked like a couple of the few things done were not necessary. I had that sunk feeling when I ok'd the repairs and the guy had his hand on my shoulder. I should have known. Shame on me. It's ultimately my own fault for allowing myself to be taken advantage of by a narcissistic opportunist. Beware of all that glitters. Dishonest. Rip Off. Be ware. This is probably the worst rip off I've experienced at an auto shop. Sent my 17 year old son who maintains his own Jeep with his own money. He couldn't figure out why his headlights were so dim. He took it here and asked for them to take a look at the headlights and give him an estimate to fix whatever the problem was. They DIDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM but charged $80.00 for looking "checking out the rest of the car" and that he desperately needed new rear brake pads and all sorts of other work. None of which was asked for, and worse, none of which he needed. In the end they took $80 from a teenager and did nothing! read more

I feel like a sucker for using Harry and Leon. Either they are crooks or they don't have a clue about what they are doing. I will assume the latter. After a bad past experience with these guys (relating to me catching Harry in a lie or again giving the benefit of the doubt - a misunderstanding) I decided to give him one more chance. To make a long story short, I took the car in for problems running in the rain. After $1,000 they fixed everything except the root cause - a $100 wheel well cover! Not only that, but Harry tried to sell me $800 worth of motor mounts and transmission mounts that he said were broken. A couple of weeks later I took the car to the Ford Dealer who not only fixed the wheel well problem, but said there was nothing wrong with the mounts. What a surprise!!! read more

I'm surprised I get to post the first review on Electroleon, because the local word-of-mouth on them is very good. I found that out after the fact, though, after getting a kind of serendipitous introduction to them. After having my SUV washed at the car wash next door to Electroleon, it failed to start. Other than telling me it wasn't their fault, the car wash guys weren't much help - but the people at Electroleon were. They checked the truck out, confirmed my thought that the battery had chosen that moment to die without any warning, and helped me jump start the car. I pulled the SUV into their driveway while they made room for me to get into a service bay (it's not the biggest shop, so it's a little crowded there). I was worried about missing an appointment, but within 20 minutes, they had installed the new battery and I was down the road. They only charged for the battery - no "installation fee" - I was out of there for a little less than $100. They also did a nice job repairing an oil leak on my girl friend's truck, a job I know would have cost considerably more at a dealer or another shop. They're reliable, knowledgeable on both foreign and domestic vehicles, their work is first-class, and they don't over-charge. Because it's such a small place, I'd recommend making an appointment, but if it's an emergency, they'll do everything they can to help you out. I can testify to that. read more

I have complete trust and confidence in Harry and Leon. I've been taking my car to them whenever repairs are necessary for more than five years now. The shop (really, just a little driveway) is located right next door to the car wash with the big hand sculpture on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City. At any given time, their space is filled with cars, so they do a thriving business. My guess is they don't have to jack up prices in order to subsidize their rent, so they can be fair and honest with customers. Over the years, I've depended on Harry and Leon for my major car servicings (for significantly less than my dealership charged), for body repairs the three times my car has been hit and for air conditioning repairs/battery replacement. They have a relationship with the Enterprise rent-a-car across the street, so if the repairs require leaving the car for more than a few hours, I just rent a car for under $30. Over the years, I've also gotten free oil changes and after major services, Electroleon has my car washed next door for no extra charge. i used to live on the Westside and would go out of my way to take my car to Electroleon for repairs. I replaced a bad alternator at a mechanic in the Westside several days ago. After the replacement, I noticed a squeaky noise coming from the belt. I told the mechanic that the noise wasnt there before the replacement. He said that I also need to replace the belt and the tensioner (costs $700-800!!!) which are causing the noise issue. When I heard it, I immediately thought this guy is trying to rip me off. So my friend recommended me to take my car to Electroleon for the second opinion. I met Harry and he quickly inspected my car, then told me that I DON'T need to replace the belt and the tensioner for the issue. He thoroughly and professionally explained that the alternator installation or putting back the belt was not done correctly. He even made a phone call to the sketchy mechanic and grilled him asking what exactly he did to replace the alternator. After Harry's phone call, the fishy repair shop suddenly changed the attitude and nicely asked me to bring my car back again to fix the noise issue for free... and they did! Harry didn't charge any money to save me from the sketchy repair shop. He is very professional and VERY HONNEST. Electroleon is a repair shop with honesty and integrity. This rip off artists never fail to impress by their incompetence and arrogant insolence. I made mistake taking my Eldorado convertible to them about 10 years ago. Never could find the problem but charged me $175.00. This time I brought my Jeep with rear break lights not working . The reason -mostly because of close proximity to my house. The told me to leave the car for half of day because of "complexity " of the problem. Four hours later they call me and said there is the wire shortage somewhere under the floor that requires to lift the carpet and find the spot. I asked for approximate estimate but was given none. When asked how much time will take to fix it they said they don't know but possibly up to 5 hours. At $ 110 per hour charge and no trust in their integrity I said I will pick the car up. Their response- we don't need your job. We are busy enough. I took my car to Filipe's electric who immediately identified the problem as a bad contacts on a plates where bulbs screwed in. I never thought to check them myself because they were new (made in China). Needless to say, 1 hour later and with total of $100 cost for repair I was driving happily home. I was referred to Electroleon through a mechanic who usually works on my tires. My 9 year old (150k mile) Mazda3 was in need of transmission work as well as a new front transaxle and an A/C repair. Harry inspected my car and was thorough when describing the options I had. I did not feel pressured into anything, and felt he provided me with a great amount of knowledge and honest advice on what my best option would be for moving forward. He found me a rebuilt transmission that was in great shape, and the final cost to replace it was true to what he had quoted me initially. He gave me a great deal on fixing my transaxle, A/C, and getting an oil change as well. About 5 days after I got my car, it started acting up again. I took it back to Harry and he checked it out. It was a small issue with a sensor and he fixed that for me at no additional cost. Sometimes these things happen. Getting car work is never fun, but these guys made the process really smooth for me. Let me preface this review by saying that Leon (father) and Harry (son) did EVENTUALLY get the job done, and they may have even saved us a few bucks. But the experience was awful. They have a few business practices that tried my patience and left me questioning whether I got swindled in the process. First of all, their communication sucks. Harry is a poor listener and smooth talker who spends alot of time telling you all the good things and favors he's doing for you. He likes to repeat over and over how it's not about the money, instead of directly answering your questions when he's confronted. If a person explains to you how much they're hooking you up more than twice in a conversation, that's a red flag. Meanwhile, Leon got rude and short with my wife and I on the phone several times when we would ask him to give us specific details. I think at the core, they're both sweet guys, but they kind of just want you to blindly accept everything they're telling you without challenge or questioning. They believe that because they've been in business 20 years, they're above reproach. If you're the type of customer that likes clarity from your mechanic and likes to ask lots of questions and get a straight answer, Electroleon is not the shop for you. They are kings of "duck and dodge". Here's what happened. My clutch blew out on Laurel Canyon. I would have rather towed it to Ed Little's in Culver City, but it would have been too expensive to tow. Yelpers seemed to give Electroleon a fair grade, so we towed it there on a Monday. Between Monday and Friday, Harry offered to fix our timing belt, change the oil and a few other extras in addition to replacing the clutch. He came down on his prices for us and was flexible, which was nice. The problem was that in the midst of Harry doing a bunch of extra crap we didn't ask for, we were paying for a rental car day by day while he found new things to "help us with". So all the extra stuff he was hooking up for us, we were paying for in rental car fees. Additionally, his communication left a lot to be desired. For example, he might tell us to expect a call by 2pm the next day for an update and never call. We'd call him at 3pm to check up on things and he would fall into an unprovoked 15 minute Shakespearean monologue about all the good things he was doing for us at discount rates. Singing songs about how all he wanted to do was "the best job possible" because he "cared so much" so basically we should just shut the hell up and be cool until he was ready to talk. He was also very defensive and touchy anytime I asked him for specifics. It took me several explanations to get across to him exactly how his "extras" were inconvenient for my wife and I. Eventually, he understood, and he gave us the car back in a semi-timely fashion. That was just week one. This ended up being a two-week ordeal. After week one, Harry gave us the car back knowing that they had not completed the job. The clutch pedal was not in working order and my wife almost got into an accident in the rain because of Electroleon's slacking negligence. Instead of telling us that we were leaving the shop with a seriously dangerous problem on our hands, Harry told us it was just a minor glitch that we would get used to. That "glitch" ended up being a bum flywheel, and the flywheel is a MAJOR component of any manual transmission system. We took the car back a few days after discovering the clutch pedal was sticking. Harry and Leon offered to cover our rental car. They covered it for four days before Harry called us with another one of his epic speeches about how good a deal we were getting on the part, and how the problem wasn't theirs, they were doing us a huge favor, blah blah blah...... in reality, they had no clue what the problem was and hated admitting it. Also, Harry did not take kindly to me asking him why the problem didn't appear until AFTER we visited Electroleon. They never called when they said they would, we had to stay on top of them. Whenever we did call, we got over-explanation from Harry or gruffness from Leon. By the way, Leon should not be answering the phone there. His accent is thick, he's a little hard of hearing AND hates repeating himself. Bad combination for phone answering. Again, overall nice guys...they DID get the job done eventually. I just don't appreciate a mechanic trying to make me feel like he's doing me a favor when I just want to get one problem fixed, or get a simple question answered. I lived in New York for many years and hate a fast-talker. My suggestion for Electroleon is to get a manager with a thick skin (Harry and Leon are sensitive fellows) that can speak with the people, shoot straight and LISTEN INTENTLY instead of rambling. Avoid this place until they get such a manager. If you call Electroleon and Harry or Leon pick up the phone, hang up and find another shop. read more

And thankfully, i was not let down. Harry and Leon came thru big time. They were professional, courteous, and seemed to give me as good a price possible for my problems. My car was brought here because it turned out there was a serious problem and the repair was too extensive for the place we originally took it to (shall remain nameless). So it was a hard pill to swallow, but Harry did full due diligence on our warranty and responded promptly to all our requests. He also made sure the job was done right and didn't cut any corners. Anyway, the car is fixed now and it runs better than ever. If I had ended up at the dealer the price would have been much higher, roughly a little more than double is the consensus. They may have a tiny garage and it is ALWAYS packed, but I can also always pull in and, if they can't fix it right then, I can drop it off and have the work done quickly and efficiently. Nice guys working here. They fixed my broken side mirrors quickly and gave me a good rate on labor. The side mirrors themselves were expensive, but that's what Toyota charged them. It's much better to drive with working side mirrors though. I had a horrible experience with this company. I called and told them I needed to tow my car to their shop. They told me that they close at 5, but I can drop the car off in front of the shop and drop my keys in the drop box, which I did. The next morning, I go to the shop, to see my car still in front where I towed it and a parking ticket on the car. Though annoyed, I continued to have them service my car. When I came to pick up my car the following morning, they told me that I have 2 tickets ($95) because they did not move my car. They refused to pay the tickets or deduct them from my bill. This is outrageous. I am hoping that this review will warn any future clients not to use this shop. They are horrible business people and refuse to take responsibility for their actions! read more
