We drove by Superior Auto Clinic many times. Never considered it. But recently, we were told after a check up and oil change that our engine leeks and need to take it to a mechanic. Easier said than done since our favorite place closed during the pandemic, we tried a few since, but we weren't happy with any. So I looked around, needed a place where I can drop the car and walk back home to work, so it needs to be close by. Superior came in my searches and had good reviews on Yelp, so we gave it a try. Called ahead, explained the issue, made an appointment for next morning. It was nice to see they have repeat customers, people that know the owner, his son and the other folks working here. Everyone was nice, we left the car, they kept it overnight (that might happen, so make arrangements). No big deal for us. We got updates, quotes, estimates, if you call to check in, they answer, let you know what's going on. The car we dropped is older and I'm glad they had a nice attitude about it, they don't make feel you bad, on the contrary. Car was ready next day. Paul explained us what he changed, showed us all the parts. They use higher quality parts, so the costs are higher, but you want long-lasting parts, and good work, not a patched up job. They fixed a brake light for free, double checked everything, gave us a list with repairs they advice on in the future. They prioritize, are honest about what really needs to get done. I like that's a family business, local, everyone is nice to talk to, they are serious, love what they are doing. Paul the owner is very knowledgeable and being around him, you feel his involvement and his goal to do the best job. So, we'll be back and keep everyone updated! read more

When I first took my car to Paul, I was new to town and anxious to find a mechanic I could trust. Twenty-five years and four vehicles later, I wouldn't go anywhere else. He and the whole team, including his sons, treat their customers with care, respect, and kindness. They're extremely good at what they do and unfailingly honest about the work they recommend. If a repair isn't immediately necessary, they'll say so. If it is, they'll tell you, and the price will be fair. I was recently in a difficult position in which I needed to decide which of my two cars to sell, and their advice ended up being crucial. They saved me from spending money I wouldn't have made back on the sale and helped me get to a resolution. They're not only experts at what they do, they're also really good folks. Some good. More bad. First came in with some blinker electrical issues. They fixed the harness and good to go. Maybe I should have known something was up when a blinker side cover was missing and my AC and wipers suddenly didn't work. Had my 85 Dodge for awhile and drove it everywhere (even an eight hour road trip over Xmas) then one day wouldn't start after a hot soak while hiking so towed it in. New fuel pump but they never tested the fuel pressure which is what you do because they said they didn't have the $20 tool to check PSI. Then they guessed that I needed a carb rebuild and I blew $800 there. No price quotes ahead of time. We replaced the starter cool. Then the guessing games began. I bought a fuel regulator (because they had no suggestions) and it was installed with zip ties and hoses left dangling so they could rip anytime while driving from sitting on the frame. In all they gave it back to me four times and was never fixed properly just excuses after asking them a million times to check the timing, make sure it was dialed in and "yes" several times. Finally after three months I told them I'd just pick it up. Friend and I went through and several hoses not connected. Carb screws loose. Regulator I already mentioned. In all I feel cheated out of $1000. Guys if you weren't comfortable working on it you could have just told me and I'd find someone else no problem. Stringing me along wasn't right and I won't go back. Nice enough guys but started to feel like a scam and money scam because my other car is a nice one. Take it there for tires and if you have a more modern ride. Of course shit will go wrong on an older truck but the dominos and excuses were too much and lost sleep over it because of lack of communication and fibs. Needed a new Catalytic Converter since it was causing the P0240 code to trigger a failure on my smog inspection. This was for a 2009 Hyundai Sante Fe. They explained the issue very well. Everything went well. Engine light off. Passed Smog and life went on. Cost was $1,887 with $1,300 for just the parts. Converters are way too expensive in California. Anywhere else it would be less then $500. read more

To be honest, this guy the owner acts like the nicest guy, acts like he is all about his customers, which makes you think you found the jackpot of mechanic shops, BUT don't be fooled, it's a trap. He ALWAYS complains how much he's always working, which is like the whole purpose of having a business is to work or hire more people to do your job. It's exhausting to always hear the same complaints about him working so much. I don't care I'm here for my car to be fixed. On top of that he keeps telling you over and over again when you bring your car into them, that he has so many cars but he put you first which is just another act to make you feel like you're important when really you're not. They will over charge you on parts and over charge you on labor and say it took way longer than it did and you will never know unless you literally see them not working on your car with your own eyes as I stand in front of the liqour store and actually see them not working on the car, so I called them and asked if they are working on my car and they completely lied and said they are doing it as we speak, What a Joke! which mind you I was watching it all go down with my own eyes for 2 hours and 18 minutes! Just to only get your car back every time and it still has the same issues and then when you tell them, they get annoyed and or say "just drive it around it should be fine if not then bring it back" uhhhmmm you got paid and yet you are procrastinating to fix my car even though you guys say you did and to bring it back if it gives you major issues???? Then what's the point of taking it to this mechanic the first time?? I should've learned my lesson on the sixth time I went in. And now I feel Horrible because I referred so many friends and they all are saying they had issues with them too! Don't let the act fool you. They will try to make as much money on you as possible than tell you how much money they are saving you, but when they say you need certain parts for your car and that they will get it for you, ask them how much it will be for the part AND than I DARE you to call around and find your car part they say you need and get the pricing on it and then just compare what they charge. A year ago I brought in the car for a smog test and because the gas gauge was broken. I had also mentioned the license plate needed to be put on. The car was returned with only the smog test done. Thinking nothing of it I accepted it. Two weeks ago I brought my car in for a flare tire. And set up another appointment the following week to get the gas gauge fixed, a checkup and the license plate put on. Two days after getting the tire replaced by them, the break lights wouldn't turn off and I have had to get it jumped EVERY time I want it to start. On my appointment day i was told the license plate would be put on and that I needed a new battery and that would fix everything. He then proceeded to tell me everything else he thought was important to get fixed. I spent $1500 to get it fixed and working. Upon calling me to pick up the car, I asked about the fuel gauge to which he had forgot and needed an extra day to look into, this showing he hadn't even tried looking into it. THATS TWICE NOW I brought it in and hey didn't fix what I asked them to do that would make it run. I JUST went in to inform them that their diagnosis was incorrect and that AAA who had done a test while jumping me said my battery had been fine and wasn't old. So they conned me. I told them they didn't put the license plate on and now they want me to pay for another appointment to look at the initial reasons I brought it in. First he tried passing me off to his son who I had never met and had nothing to do with the situation. I told him I would only be speaking with "the dad" as that is who I had been speaking with and gave the false information. He began to raise his voice, creating a hostile environment while approaching me from behind the counter saying "you're making me mad". This is unprofessional and highly illegal in a business setting. DO NOT GO HERE. Twice now they have not fixed my car to even run but charged me $1500 and said it was fixed. Zero accountability and unprofessional hostility that I will be moving forward with legal action. read more

I drove to a few places around North Hollywood/Studio City and found that Paul at Superior quoted me the least for the work, but more importantly, just gave off a better vibe than the others around town. I was happy with the work they did-- you couldn't tell there was any damage once they were done-- and Paul was friendly and communicative the whole time. I got stuck at work, so my boyfriend was the one to pick my car up for me, and Paul even texted me to let me know my boyfriend had forgotten his change! After a disastrous work week I backed out of 2 SEPARATE PARKING LOTS one day after the other and wasn't looking AT ALL and dinged my bumper on one occasion and smashed my sideview mirror on the other. It was 100% my fault. I was under a ridiculous amount of stress and was not well. I took my car to Superior after a few Saturday morning errands thinking it wouldn't hurt to get a quote to fix the sideview and I could walk home as I live the next block over. Manny was so calm and patient while taking my information and mentioned it would be a couple hours until they could quote anything as they were waiting on the body work guy to come into the shop. Not even one hour later I received a text to pick up my car. How could that be? I didn't even get a quote. When I called Manny, he told me the mirror didn't have any electrical damage so they simply pieced it back together - FOR FREE. Manny mentioned he also noticed my front plate was hanging off to the side and asked if I wanted my front plate frame adjusted as a courtesy because he noticed it wasn't screwed on straight. Where was I? I cried when I got off the phone. After dealing with all the stress from work, this business not only displayed kindness but generosity, something we don't see very often anymore.
