Brian may be the best electrologist I've ever had, and I've had several over the years. His work was quick and less painful than what I've had before. But don't expect any amenities here. I am absolutely glad that I made the decision to get electrolysis from electrolysis by Allison! The space is clean, Allison is kind and professional, and Brian is the best and so sweet! At first I was hesitant as I am a woman of color with corse hair. But I took a leap of faith because Allison was so kind with answering my questions. It was a risk that was worth it and I'll do it again! I have struggled with chin hair since I was 14 due to pcos and finally I am rod of these hairs after over 20 years! I seen results from the first session, with each session the hair grew back thinner and less. By the 5th visit I only had 4 hairs ( 2 on each chin) after years of having a mini beard on each chin. I have never had any scarring or bumps, matter of fact the skin looks even better and clear. Their electrolysis technology works on my corse chin hairs, doesn't scar or bleed, and I never had any in frown hairs. Honestly I'm still in shock that I don't have chin hair any more. Extremely unprofessional environment and overall poor experience. Overpriced and rushed. First her office is not entirely clean. Her ring light is usually filled with other people's hair and it would be gross to have to look at it while its close to your face. Second, extremely poor time management. You always always wait 15-25 minutes on top of your scheduled appointment - there is no waiting room either. I voiced my frustration once, and instead of just apologizing and moving on (which is all I wanted), she told me I'm always late?? Wouldn't back down even when I told her I have not been. Didn't understand why she wouldn't diffuse the situation. The ONE time I was late, I still had to wait 5-10 mins for the other client to finish. I guess it's not a problem if you have nothing else to do with your day. Third, I always leave with missed hair. Eventually I had to point out hairs to her. She doesn't give you the opportunity to give you a mirror and see if she's missed anything. I have barely seen any results after 4 sessions and they were not very dense areas to begin with. She's always playing catch-up with time and you have to leave in a hurry since the other client is outside. Lastly, scheduling an appt with her is very difficult. She'll text you at odd hours but not reply to you at all. I finally gave up and went to another person. Regret giving her so much of my money. read more

I made the appt with Alison because of her reviews on YELP. I had been going to someone that I was very happy with, but annoyed that she raised her price by $35.00 without telling me before hand. I only found out when I called about my credit card charge. At any rate, without going into detail, I want you to know that it's three weeks after Alison did my Electrolysis and I still have unattractive red spots around my chin. When I called her, she nonchalantly told me it is common place and in time, it would heal. It never has. I've never had this happen before. My advice is not to go here. read more

I've been coming to Alison for a year and a few months now. I get my lower chin area as well as my upper lip done. I've definitely seen a HUGE difference in the hair growth! It's definitely thinned out a lot as well as not so much hair growth as before. It works WAY better than waxing and threading. When I would thread it was every week and since transitioning over to electrolysis I used to get a session at Alison's every 3 weeks and now I'm able to come in for a session every 5 to 6 weeks. The areas I get done, the skin has definitely brightened up and I get so much compliments on my skin. Not as much ingrown hairs. I definitely did a lot of research before starting the process to educate myself and I'm glad to have found great electrologists at this location. They're ALL really nice and Alison is definitely responsive and reassuring. Every time I come for a session it takes less and less time. So that means it's working, just be patient! First of all, electrolysis IS THE ONLY PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL. And Alison is committed to your permanent hair removal! I can really tell this. She's not in the business for repeat clients, she's in it to fulfill her client's needs and that's what gets her the repeat business. I did a good deal of research, questions, consumer reviews etc. before choosing a place and this is a great fit for me. Alison is responsive, flexible with scheduling - specifically, when I work long hours, she's happy to come or stay late. In this town, availability and flexibility are so valuable! She is really direct and shares your goals. She works quickly and efficiently yet is gentle and you'll see that she is concerned about your skin and what you need and want. Also she is not judgmental at all about the human body or the hair on it. She's just really comfortable to be around, while professional, and has gotten my chin, upper lip, auriolas, tummy. I keep thinking of more areas to tackle! I have noticed in 3 visits, less regrowth! Halleluejah!!! If you've plucked, waxed or lasered as I have for years - you've paid to create repeat hair growth cycles. This can take a couple repeat electro sessions to eliminate permanently. (Oh the money I've thrown away on laser and wax that just made it worse! In comparison, electrolysis isn't a cheap service but is actually less per visit for me, yet it is many times cheaper because of the permanence.) We started with a 30 minute session and we are now at 15 minute sessions - even with the new areas I keep adding. So that's already great value. I honestly couldn't be happier. Its slightly painful but I found laser worse. At best its like plucking, at worst its a reminder you're alive. I always say it feels like going to battle but actually winning. I also want to state that sometimes, if there's only one or two reviews of a service on Yelp, I tend to assume they are friends of the business. So just as a disclaimer to show my lack of bias: I don't know Alison from before I went for her service, I just like her work and her light, friendly, direct, non-judgemental conduct. I hope that's helpful. One of the greatest things about Alison is that you don't feel she is trying to upsell you, ever. In fact, I wish she did have a few post-treatment products to sell and she says they're on the way. The place is really well located on Pico...near a fire station (!), but it is up the stairs and 'round the back so you'll need to know that. Also, its good to plan ahead - cash or check accepted only. ATMs are down the block but that's not really convenient if you're rushed to get to your appointment. The only thing I can think of as a con: While she's treating you, (read: killing those little buggers dead), you're looking up at the ceiling and its just boring old dusty stucco. I was a waxing addict. It made my skin -well, yucky. Luckily, one day I walked into a random hair salon, where Alison rented space. The salon owner recommended that I talk with Alison (thanks random salon lady!!) That was like 4 years ago. And since I have been happily seeing results from a professional and friendly person. She is now at a new place that offer other holistic services i.e. massages, aromatherapy. CONS: pain - eh what can you do. It hurts. Some people more than others. But trust me it is totally bearable. I have been known to fall asleep after a long day's work. PROS: It works - i saw results after the first few sessions; Knowledgeable - this girl knows what she's doing. Day 1 she will explain why it works, what that other stuff doesn't, tells you what NOT to do, what to do Comfortable - like I said, it does hurt but Alison makes it a friendly comfy environment. Want to chat? She'll chat with you. Want to work thru in silence? She will work diligently when you take a silent break from your surely crazy life. She's organic - all natural products for her clients. No weird chemicals here, natural products, like witchhazel, are used. Genuine concern - this is more than a job for Alison, she cares about her clients and she wants you to be happy and satisfied. I went to Alison twice. She's a nice girl and all, but I can't so for the money that I was completely satisfied. Pros: Easy to make appointments. Easy to find location. She answers all of your questions and you leave fully understanding the benefits of electrolysis versus laser, etc. Cons: I paid almost as much for my second session of 15 minutes as I paid for my first session of 40 minutes. I don't know anyone who charges $50 for 15 minutes. The bathroom lacked toilet tissue and should be cleaner for a place that caters to women. Lots of scab marks, but that's probably with anyone. It took me a long time to take that step and I first spent hours on the computer doing research on the process and the various technicians in image crazy Los Angeles... I finally decided on Alison and she is wonderful! Allison walked me through every step and answered all of my questions. I love Allison! she's SO good at her job. At first, I went to do electrolysis at another place in Brentwood and the lady spent 1.5 hours to do what Allison finishes in 15 minutes! and then the lady told me to wax and thread the remaining hairs, which Allison (and every other hair expert) will tell you that actually stimulates the hair and causes more regrowth. If I would have stuck with her, she would have still been working on the same area after 10 years. I'm so happy I was referred to Allison. I almost don't want to spread the word about her because I want to make sure I'm always able to have an appointment. What can I say about Electrolysis? It's A-MAZING! It's really been life changing for me. I've been seeing Alison for over a year now and she has changed my life. I will never go back to waxing or threading. Electrolysis has been so much better for my skin. I was a bit worried about the skin around my eyes from years of waxing. I found out that each I time I waxed, I was pulling off a fresh layer of skin cells, which can cause the skin to sag (yikes). My tanned skin also makes me a poor candidate for Laser Hair Removal. So I decided to give Electrolysis a try. I should mention that I'm a complete pansy when it comes to pain - so I was scared. But it really is about the same amount of discomfort from threading, which is minimal. Now I have beautiful, full eyebrows and I don't have to worry about aging my skin (thank god). I really didn't want to write a review because I don't want anyone else to get my appointment times :) Alison is beyond wonderful to work with. She makes you feel comfortable and at ease during the procedure. She is very thorough and after almost two months I can see a significant difference! I still have a ways to go but am very pleased with all of the sessions and money spent. In the past I have tweezed, waxed, lasered, threaded, etc and nothing has ever given me more than 3-4 days of a semi hair free life. Since going to Alison, I have been able to not only throw away any hair removal items but I also don't have hair regrowth until the day before the next session. And that regrowth is very minimal. I went last Monday for the first time and I was very, very pleased with Alison. I found her through Yelp and called her and could not leave a msg on her cell but she saw my number and she called me back! I had a 15min electrolysis session on the chin and jaw line area. I was very pleasantly impressed with Alison. A nice girl, she worked fast and very proficiently . Nice clean place, too., smelled and felt good. The procedure did not hurt, just a tiny annoyance. I iced the area soon after I was finished and put a little hydrocortisone and within a couple of hours all the irritation was gone. It is too early to talk about results but so far so good. I have mostly what it is called "peach fuzz" and a few longer dark hairs that stick out on the chin and on the jaw line. I did not want to start plucking them and so all these years I was cutting them with scissors. I tried to do laser but could not. I have been doing laser hair removal for legs and bikini at Prolase in Tarzana and had asked them several times to do my face but they refused because they believed that, in my case, laser would promote more facial hair growth. I am not blaming them, they were being honest. Thank you fellow yelpers for recommending this place for electrolysis. I plan to keep going back until it is no longer needed. Alison is the best electrologist and the only one I will go to. I started seeing her when I lived in Los Angeles and she really helped me after my skin was destroyed from laser. I was happy in the beginning. Alison is definitely knowledgeable. Her hours are sporadic and random and she is very "loose" with her appt times. Texting last minute to change the time or adjust the start. I could manage that until I tried to do the same thing and she became very aggressive and suddenly had a "24 hour cancellation policy" and will "charge full fee" which made no sense since she does not take or hold a credit card. Allison has a wonderful bedside manner and presence BUT i went to her for a year and a half and was extremely unhappy. Very painful and almost no results. Facilities are awful also. No waiting room, you have to sit outside on the stairs, and she was late for 95% of our appointments (which is annoying because you have to pay for parking on the street and I always had to triple my meter time knowing my 15 min appointment would be more like 35 because it started late). Went to other electrolysis people since, who have better facilities and far more thorough aftercare treatments for the same price and are also punctual. After years of being frustrated and disgusted with the hair on my face and chin I finally decided to try electrolysis. Found Alison through Yelp. I wanted to be done with having my eyebrows tweezed, threaded, waxed, etc. I knew you can't laser it out as i have had done on my legs and underarms so I thought i was going to have to wait for new technology until I found Alison. She is very knowledgeable and patient. I phoned first; we spoke for a little while and she walked me through the process, what to expect, frequency of treatment, etc. She has not disappointed me; I have seen her abt 5 times. She is good at shaping the brow which I thought would be a big problem (of course, burning me in the eye would be a bigger problem). I will see her tomorrow again and I am almost done with my brows. The only thing I experience is a little swelling on the brow area which I already expected. It goes away in a day. No scars, no burning, and I am almost free from this repetitive annoyance which is to have the brows done. This is not a paid review.
