Amy seems friendly at first but please BEWARE! She's spreading misinformation especially to people of color. She insisted all my dark hyperpigmentation from years of plucking will naturally & quickly disappear with her treatments- this is simply is impossible without fade cream or peels. She tells you what she thinks you want to hear about the treatment so that you will stick with her. But do thorough research. My new electrologist (and aesthetician of color) had to save my skin from Amy's improper yanking which broke so many hairs halfway underneath the skin that caused so many ingrown bumps that stayed for weeks! When I told Amy, she said this was normal. Of course it is not. What's worse, some technicians think just because your hair is coarse you have to up the probe's intensity so ridiculously high. I have a high pain tolerance but her treatments were so painful. Electrolysis should not that unbearably painful. Amy doesn't seem to be very inexperienced, especially for people with dark skintones and/or thicker hair. Please beware! read more

Amy is a great electrolysis , I knew her when she was with a company and now she is solo. She has a good machine she uses compare to other machine electrolysis uses I prefer her machine. I have seen her on and off for years to get rid of facial hair so I stop shaving :). Let me start off with saying this is my first bad review I have ever given. I bought a groupon because I wanted laser hair removal and knew I was going to need quite a few sessions and wanted to try it first before committing to purchasing a large package costing of around $1000. Called countless times - no one ever answered, Left message with reception at salon with my name and number - never got a response, left voicemail on cell provided on groupon - never got a repsonse, sent text on a Friday at noon and received a response on the following Tuesday 10 min before midnight. I work nights so I was up and responded with all requested information within 5 minutes. It is now the following Monday and I never heard back. Contacted Groupon because now my voucher has expired and I got a full refund due to the lack of service I received. I felt like I was scammed. Buyer beware! read more

I bought a voucher on Groupon but had to get the voucher refunded because I couldn't get an appointed scheduled. I managed to get Amy on the phone very briefly, and was told to text instead of call. After multiple emails and texts over the course of several months, I had to give up and contact Groupon to get my money back. I recommended Amy to a friend and was surprised when my friend said she had negative reviews online, so I'm coming here to change that. Amy is absolutely fantastic. I've tried other electrologists in New York and other states (due to work travel), and she really is the best of the best. She's the only electrologist I've been to who doesn't leave me with scabs after, and her machine is the newest out there. Honestly, the first time I went to her, I didn't believe she actually removed any hair because I didn't feel any pain!!!!! Obviously I saw the results in the mirror, but I wasn't used to that. Given that Amy is just one person, she books up quickly. I schedule my appointments in advance and know that if I have to cancel, I'll have to be patient with the rescheduling. I bought a groupon for her on a whim, didn't expect much BUT Amy is an ABSOLUTE PLEASURE to work with. Prices are very reasonable and for whatever reason HER work seems to be working for me the most! Truly grateful I found her. I don't think I would have found someone else who cares as much. She truly wants the best outcome for me, which has meant a lot to me during the course of my treatment. I am someone who has tried it all- laser, waxing, you name it. Electrolysis is the only thing that has worked for me. And, it matters a lot who is doing the electrolysis. A true gem of a find in NYC! I've tried tirelessly to find a clean and safe way to permanently remove my unwanted hair, to no avail. This city is funny like that. I thought "a NYC salon...they must know what they're doing..." But most don't! After going to about a dozen different places, and spending too much money, I bought a Groupon from Amy on a whim, and WOW! I'm so happy I found her, FINALLY! First, lets talk about her skills; she's fast, she's smooth, and she's efficient. She talked me through the process on my first session, gave me tips on ways to get the best results and ways to manage any discomfort the process might bring (which by the way, with Amy, there's barely any discomfort). She answered all of my questions and made me feel comfortable. She has the top of the line equipment, and I can tell you that after going to her for several sessions...I see major results! I went in wanting to do one part of my body, but I might do more after this great experience. Then there's the unique advantage she has over these other places...she's a true mom and pop shop and the care and passion she puts into each and everyone of her clients is priceless. I see her client interaction when I arrive and her last client is leaving, and when I'm leaving and the next person is arriving. She bends over backwards to fit people in her schedule, opening up weekends, evening hours, etc, just to accommodate people. I can go on and on about how special this is, but I'm not trying to write a novel here. Basically, when you go to Amy, you're not just a number. That is so rare in this city. I read a few of her reviews before going to her, and I have to quickly comment on them to anyone inquiring about this business. Amy is passionate, hardworking, talented, and amazing. I bought a Groupon for this business and I called her multiple times with no pick up. I wanted to schedule an appointment immediately. I left a voicemail and still did not hear back. I sent an email and did not hear back. She only answered my call when I called blocked and she told me she was on her lunch break and to text message her. I texted her and she never replied. I don't know what kind of business this woman is running but it seems more like a scam. I told Groupon what was going on and received a refund. Do yourself a favor and don't go here. read more

Please read this before shopping elsewhere. I had electrolysis done for many years now, and treated different areas of my face successfully before moving to NYC. I had experience with different types of electrolysis (thermolysis and blend). I will not go on about Amy's lovely bedside manners (she's very nice), but what matters is her particular attention to using the time as efficiently as possible to get as many hairs. The machine she uses is top-notch, and trust me I can tell the difference. I have been to another electrolysis place with great reviews on Groupon- it is not nearly as good as Amy's work- i could feel the hair being pulled and when I told the electrologist insisted that she's doing it right, which wasn't the case. IMPORTANT: if you feel the hair pulled (like the pulling of a tweezer) after it's treated by the machine, you're paying for tweezing not electrolysis, you should not feel the hair at all when it's removed. Go to Amy's Electrolysis Solutions, you will not change to any other place. Please keep in mind that she works alone, so she will not answer the phone right away if she's with a client, but she does call back when I leave a voicemail or text. The reviews about her not answering were not fair. read more
