We walked in about 30 minutes before closing, and they welcomed us with such warmth and kindness. They were incredibly patient, never rushed us, and were not pushy at all. You can truly feel how genuine and caring they are from the moment you walk in. We even left to look elsewhere and came back because nothing compared to their service and selection. We ended up purchasing my daughter's beautiful dresses there, and the alterations were done perfectly. They also rent tuxedos, carry a wide variety of dresses, and do all types of alterations, not just formalwear. The shop itself is adorable, and the overall experience was wonderful from start to finish. They were extremely thorough with asking about what we wanted done (bustles, lining, trimming, fit, I also needed straps added), and lined up the timing so our dresses were done a few weeks before the wedding. I frantically looked up bridal shops that did expedited alterations in Sacramento. Elegant Designs Bridal was one of the first shops to get back to me and I wholeheartedly trusted. Backstory: Came here to get my wedding dress altered last year. It was exactly ONE MONTH BEFORE MY WEDDING. The dress I ordered was originally from a wedding boutique in Southern California as Socal was where I as living months prior. I was given an ETA of 4 months for my wedding dress to arrive from that Socal boutique. However, I ended up moving to Sacramento for work and getting my wedding gown 7 months later-- ONE MONTH before my wedding. I knew I'd need alterations because I'm typically an in-between size for gowns. And of course, why wouldn't I want a fitted gown on my wedding day? Lol. I booked a same-day appointment with Elegant Designs Bridal over the phone. I was expecting to get denied services because of the time frame I was looking for. But they were able to sneak in an appointment for me and see what they could do. I came in and they got working right away. I came alone. I was so overwhelmed and didn't know what I needed, but the seamstress, her daughter, and another family member/worker went right to pinning all the areas that needed alterations and shared their recommendations. I felt very taken care of. The alterations took about 3 weeks. My mom was finally in town when it was complete and my MOH had time to come with me to learn how to bustle my train. I needed a little more tightening on the top area and the seamstress said she'd have it done in an hour or two. I was able to grab a late lunch and come back to the most perfect dress. Mind you, everything was completed just two days before my wedding!! And I found the expedited process for alterations very affordable. Maybe I just got lucky that they had time to cater to my emergency alteration. However, if you really need to consult with a shop for alterations, Elegant Designs Bridal IS the place to go. I walked in to Elegant Designs after failing to find the right dress at two other appointments. We didn't need an appointment here and just came in to take a look at the dresses available since we were in the area already. Don't let the exterior fool you. When you walk in there are tons of options and samples to look at - even other dresses that aren't for weddings! Thuy and Phuong were so sweet and very helpful, without being pushy or in our space while we were shopping. I tried on a few dresses and the last one turned out to be the one! They gave me options of things that I could change and gave me estimates for everything so I could decide when it was time to come back for alterations. They can even do a custom dress for you based off of bringing in different photos and samples and letting her know what you like and don't like. I decided to stick with the dress as-is since it was already beautiful and within my budget. My dress arrived to the shop within less than a week of ordering it! They held on to it for me for a few months until I came back for alterations. It didn't take long at all and my dress was fully altered and ready within a few days. Walked into the shop with not the highest expectations after going to another shop and failing to leave with a dress, however, as soon as we walked in, I knew our expectations were gonna be exceeded. Right off the bat there were gorgeous and affordable dresses on display and we were warmly greeted at the door. I didn't catch the owners name but her service was phenomenal. 10/10. I was referred to Phuong and Thuy by one of my bridesmaids who not only had her bridesmaid dress hemmed by them but also her own wedding dress a year prior; she was very happy with the final look and highly recommended them to me when it was my wedding. I am happy to say that I too am very pleased with how my dress came out. I visited the shop 3x - once to drop it off and get measured, the 2nd time to try it with the 1st round of alterations and make further changes, and the 3rd time to make sure it fit well and to pick it up. During my 2nd visit, my family who accompanied me did mention that one of the off the shoulder sleeves seemed a tad bit longer but it didn't seem significant so I decided not to make any changes. However, I did notice it in a few pictures during my wedding, not a problem but if I cared more I would've had the shorter side lengthened to make them equal during my 2nd visit. Overall, I love how my dress came out, especially because there is a specific unique pattern at the ends of the dress and Thuy made sure to retain it. That was very important for me. I actually didn't even have to ask because when I did, she ensured me that she already does that when she alters dresses. Thuy and Phoung are extremely easy to work with and very happy and kind. I would give this business more than a 5 if I could. Their customer service and friendliness is outstanding. They are very aware of your timelines and meet them. The selection of garments in the store is very extensive. But even if you do not see what you want on the shelf, they have a good selection of catelogs you can order from and receive your garment in just a very few days. They do excellent alterations as well. They will even alter garments you do not purchase there. My daughter got her wedding dress there and then we both returned to get dresses for an upcomming event. For my daughter's dress, they really used their eye for fashion and added some decorations to it to make the dress impressive. I am not a customer who is easily pleased and rarely write reviews. this place is literally hidden in the butt crack of Arden! it's right beside an ampm & slightly behind sleep train. I had to drive around the area three times before I actually found it! luckily, the store had a beautiful assortment of dresses. unfortunately, almost all of them were bigger sizes so you'd have no choice but to get them altered. which is not ideal, considering you're paying for the dress then the alterations. a majority of the dresses were around $200 & there were a few around the $150 range but they weren't as cheap. the dresses were beautiful, just not worth $200 for one night. read more
