Had a fantastic meal! The calamari was a perfect 5/5; lightly breaded, cooked to perfection, and incredibly tender while still being nice and meaty. The Chicken Parmigiana with spaghetti was another 5/5. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was absolutely delicious, bringing the whole dish together beautifully. The shrimp scampi was a little different from what I expected, but it was still very good and enjoyable. I also ordered a side of broccoli with garlic, and it was delicious; definitely a 5/5. Simple, flavorful, and cooked just right. The bread and butter; love it Everything tasted fresh, and the service was great. I feel so spoiled when I come to Brooklyn because the pizza here is so good. I really like the crust and sauce at Frank's. Good pricing, too, for a whole pie ($20). Individual slices are kind of pricey, but by 2024 standards I'd say it's fair. Inflation hurts us all. We usually go to Original's when visiting my in-laws but they were closed. A corner neighborhood pizza joint right on Flatbush Ave. When you walk in, you know it's old school, but then you're confronted by this neo monster stainless steel pizza oven! It's the size of most NYC studio apartments with a turning multi-leveled spindle in the middle spinning your pizza through the 575°F heat (there's a digital temperature readout). It's an induced convection oven / air fryer which gives the crust a crunchy bottom and edges. It has 2 sliding glass doors and it seems the whole room goes up 10° every time they open them to load and unload the beast. We came in an hour before closing on a Thursday night hoping to grab a bite and we had table service, no problem. 2 other parties came in after us also and were still eating when we left. We didn't want to tie them up past closing, so kept our order simple: a large pie with sausage & mushrooms, Caesar salad and 3 fountain sodas. I was really surprised by the Caesar salad because it had fresh homemade dressing with egg that gave it a really toothsome texture. Even the croutons were homemade and it was only $10 to serve 3 people! The pizza here is a classic New York slice. Our whole pie was freshly made, popped into the oven and we watched it spin around like an LP record at 33 1/3 RPM (that's OG, as well as the 80's music). It wasn't long before it came out and cut into 8 slices with 4 quick strokes of the rolling blade. Nothing is better than a fresh pie with oozy mozzarella! The crust wasn't saggy and held up well when eating it NYC style without the cheese sliding off with all the toppings. This area of Brooklyn is a truck for us and we don't come this way very often, but I would really like to come back at a more reasonable dinner hour to try their kitchen dishes like linguini with white clam sauce or maybe even a nice veal parmagiana hero. read more

Phenomenal food and couldn't be more pleased with everything I ordered. Caesar salad with homemade croutons and just the right amount of creaminess in the Caesar dressing made this a winner. I'm always looking for the perfect chicken francese and I truly believe I found it. Chicken was cooked to perfection, beautifully sauced, with mushrooms on top. Topped it off with Italian cheesecake which they make in house. Oh my! The generous slice was perfectly sweet, slightly carmelized cheesecake heaven. No bakery makes it better than Frank's. Frank's pizza his regular slice just brought me & the wife back to when we were kids ... what pizza use to taste like, smell like n look like ..... The crust; thin & crispy with the perfect amount of chew, the sauce is delicious as well as the muzz ... We actually split one slice but it was so good we had to order another one .... We also had a rice ball parmigiana each..... omg, had to ask our waitress if my Nana was in the kitchen & actually got up to peek through their serving window ... no kidding it was that good .... We also spilt a delicious Caesar Salad .................. Our waitress was so polite & gave us awesome service ..... The last time I was here-September 24-the chicken parmagiana was acceptable and the casear salad was fine-service was great. Well service was great the other night but the food was not. The HUGE and inexpensive fried calamari appetizer was seemingly all crust-the squid was "hid" and the chicken francese was tasteless except for the mushrooms-yes, mushrooms-that were on it. This place is one of my go-to's for quick, decent, and fairly inexpensive Italian food. If I could leave a review on just one of their menu items, the penne vodka would get 5 stars. It is absolutely delicious. Their pizza is slightly above average in my opinion, definitely not the best in Brooklyn but far from the worst. They have a great Italian cheesecake for dessert also, and the portion is huge! They have also been very considerate of safety precautions in the current COVID environment. Social distancing is observed, staff wears masks and gloves, masks needed upon entry, etc. The staff is always friendly, and they are very quick in their food preparation. It usually only takes about 15 mins for our pick up order for 4 people is ready. Best Caeser Salad I ever had. I requested anchovies and dressing on the side. I love how they tossed bits of anchovies in the salad with the cheese. The dressing was much thicker and creamier than I have ever seen. I do not like a lot of dressing and by having it on the side, I was able to do my own portion control. We went to Frank's Pizza with friends who are regulars there. I shared the Chicken Marsala with a side of sautéed spinach, and it was amazing. My husband doesn't eat chicken, but we will go again and he'll get the Veal Marsala. The sauce makes this dish. The spinach was flavorful & not overcooked. My husband was happy with his Fettuccini Alfredo, which was al dente and very creamy. The cold antipasto was an entree for one of our group, and was huge and fresh. Writing this review while sitting here. While the food is good, the portions have gotten smaller. We ordered a shrimp parm hero which only had 3 medium size shrimp, the hero was cut in half and one side had 2 shrimp and the other side had 1 shrimp, tons of cheese on it and tons of bread. We also ordered penne with meat sauce, absolutely no meat. We told the waitress that there was no meat in the sauce she went back to the kitchen and confirmed that it was meat sauce. After having visited Frank's many more times because a friend lived nearby, I may have been a little harsh in my rating (and granted I am TOUGH on pizzerias). While it still isn't a destination slice, Frank's makes consistently good pizza. I'm happy to say I jumped the gun in this case! Subsequent visits have yielded a slice that isn't as limp, especially if you just ask for it well done. The end crust is good, like a piece of fresh bread. The sauce isn't my cup of tea with the oregano and pepper, but tomato flavor still shines through. They overdo it sometimes with the cheese, but it's always fresh and thus never overly oily. Also the staff both behind the counter and the waitresses arr all extremely nice in an old school Brooklyn sort of way. If you're in this area, your options for pizza are Frank's and Original (I don't care for Lenny & John's as much). You can't go wrong with either, but nowadays I think Frank's has held up better. read more

A few problems though... 1) my pizza was lukewarm. I don't know if it's because I ordered it with mushrooms. 2) they seemed to want us to head out so that they could close up. Recently I went with a gal-pal to eat dinner there. We both had Pasta Delizioza (shrimp in a red sauce with vegetables/ penne pasta). The pasta was ala dente which is how I like it. A bread basket preceded the entree. The serving size is substantial, but not humongous. A good value for the prices charged. I didn't have trouble parking that evening, but parking can be a bit of a hassle at times. I've also had the eggplant parm which I enjoyed.
