Bacon and Italian sausage square pizza - very crispy and delicious. This is the first time I've bought pizza here.

If you find yourself in Rockaway and are looking for a great slice (or pie) of old school NY pizza, give Pizza D'Amore a try I grew up here but moved away nearly 40 years ago, so all my old favorites are either gone or under new ownership. I tried this one 7 years ago with my dad when I was home for a school reunion. On this trip for his funeral, I got a pie for the family for dinner Just cheese like a classic NY pie should be. Hands down , The best pizza all around this neighborhood where there are many mediocre choices. Standard and unusually creative choices for pizza , including gluten free. I Order frequently for my theatre company cast and everyone LOVES the zucchini squares , even those who usually turn their nose up at vegetables . Recently ordered dinner for the 1st time . Very nice and efficient ... One of our friends got injured but we all live very far away , so we wanted to send her some comfort food and take the stress of cooking off her . So I found this place on yelp and called to ask if they delivered trays on same day and they said yes . We ordered 3 trays and it was freshly made and delivered within 2 hours . Ordered a reg pie, eggplant parm entree and a 2L of diet pepsi. The food was delivered without the 2 L of soda, and when we called the business to let them know the man on the phone said that it was his fault and if we wanted a credit in a non chalant manner. When we stated we wanted the soda and if they could deliver it when they were back in the area as they are in Rockaway park and so are we he said that they're not going to be in the area and he can credit it back to our credit card. You know what makes pizza taste better? A drink. Stating that delivering the soda is an inconvenience to the business when forgetting to bring it is an inconvenience to us. Truth is, the pizza is pretty good. The guy behind the counter shouldn't be allowed to serve the public. I was in the area on business, got hungry and decided to have lunch here. Ordered 2 slices and a bottle of water. Again, the pizza is pretty good. When I was finished I wanted to use the bathroom. I ask the guy behind the counter where the bathroom is. He says, with plenty of attitude, "No. You can't use it." I wanted to make sure I heard him correctly and said, "I can't use your bathroom after I just ate here?" He says, "NO!" After having a disappointing pizza from another local place, we decided to give this place a try. We ordered slices of pizza so we could try different ones. The meat pizza was the best. Very flavorful. The sauce was sweet and delicious, not heavy. Our only complaint was the slices were left a bit long in the oven and got slightly burnt on the bottom, but the flavor was great. Awesome pizzeria. I've had the best all over minus Staten Island. Di Fara's, Lucali's, Amores in Flushing, Patsy's East Harlem... These guys can hang with the best of 'em. Ive tried their plain, spicy pepperoni square, and buffalo chicken slices. Rule #1, Always try the plain slice when visiting a pizza joint for the first time. Solid example of classic NYC slice. Great crunchy/chewy crust with awesome pizza sauce, balance of tang and sweet/spice en perfecto. A surprise was the spicy 'roni square. Not as thick and chewy as Prince's but nice and crisp, generous pepperoni (like Prince used to do, back in the day before you know what happens when all of Asia gets in line). The buffalo chicken was forgettable. Definitely sticking to the plain and spicy square. They also have an extensive menu including garlic and oil pasta I want to try after hitting the beach. To be honest pizza is pizza but what makes a great pizza is the sauce and D'amore got the perfect combination of sauce and ingredients that makes that famous New York Pizza we all love , Me and my family love it !!! The perfect ingredients, fresh vegetables and the meats are Amazing ,love their Baked Ziti, Baked Raviolis, Chicken Parmigiana and their salads and don't forget The Margarita Pizza unbelievable and delicious , forget it about !!! Sooooo since I'm a pizza snob and I don't care for any local pizza places I decided to check Pizza D'Amore. First impression, this place is spotless and staff very attentive! All the specialty pizzas were fresh and looked very appetizing. I've tried the chicken cutlet pizza & a regular slice... 10 stars! Spinach, sausage & pepper rolls were fantastic! Not dry or oily and full of flavor! Calzone was the best I've ever eaten, it wasn't heavy and full of dough and cheese. It was just the right mix. Situated on sketchy 116 street, next to The sketchy subway entrance. This is the former Slices and Ices. New owners, (I believe they have another place in Brooklyn). They are putting forth a good effort to clean the place up, and their pizza is already excellent. The Sicilian slices are delicious, and tried their pepperoni slice. The best pepperoni slice I ever had. Every time I have gone in everything looks fresh, and they are busy. The only problem is the parking, the buses block that whole side of the street, and the riffraff that loiter near by. read more

One taste and your in love Amore Nice sitting area for a pizza parlor. The only problem with this place is deciding on what pizza to eat. The square is Delicious, the round pies are Perfection. I've seen it here for years, but I never really ventured in. Maybe I did once, and I thought the pizza was alright. I stopped by late one night when they were still open. I got two slices, but since they had some extra, they threw in one of the slices I almost got but went in a different direction. Horrible... The customer service sucks, plenty of attitude. I ordered food and paid. When i told the guy i didn't want the food based on his attitude and he kept pulling down his mask, and handling the food and money. He refused to give me my money back. Placed an order for delivery through Slice. An hour and 10 minutes go by I figure let me give them a call. Apparently they called me to tell me they didn't have something I ordered. Never received a call or even a voicemail. Then they tell me that they will prepare the rest of my order now .. mind you this already well over an hour and a half since I placed my initial order. I just don't understand why Everything with sauce here needs to be spicy. I ordered chicken parm and eggplant parm...came spicy...I ordered again..chicken rolls, chicken parm Sandwiches, and a personal cheese pizza for my kid...ALL the sauce is spicy on everything! The people taking orders on the phone don't pay attention. I ordered a marinara pizza and specified NO CHEESE. The pizza came in on the delivery with parmesesan sprinkled over it. Some people in my family are lactose intolerant and this was not ACCEPTABLE. It is the second time I asked for no cheese on an item ordered and my request was ignored. I have made large orders on several occasions and I am very disappointed on the lack of following my directions on Mt orders. I will think twice about ordering again from da more . Pizza is good. Square and regular are solid. Food is really bad. I've ordered chicken parm heroes twice and had to throw it out. Couldn't eat it. The place is also not run well. You call for pizza, they say 15-20 minutes and 40 minutes later.. you're still waiting. This isn't the way the other locations are run. It's a shame. read more
