New hotel! One month old! Checked in with Larry. He was very helpful and nice. We arrived late so no wait. Make sure you go to the 3rd floor to check in. (combined hotel with aloft). Valet only - 43 bucks but unlimited in and out access plus you can text them to have your car ready so that was very convenient and quick. First floor is a restaurant and cafe. Second floor a nice bar and activity center like Jenga games. Didn't have time to enjoy it so can't speak much abt it. My sis went to the gym and she said it was nice too. No pool that I recall though unless I over looked it. That disappointing but all the other benefits over look that. Complimentary breakfast! Absolutely perfect place to stay downtown, my new go to. It's new, has a modern vibe to it. Very clean, spacious, great views from the rooms. There's included breakfast everyday which is a plus. The rates are reasonable. I've heard Parking is a hassle but with the cost, I'd probably spot hero anyway. We came here for NYE weekend, and it was just what we needed: walkable from 6th and many restaurants, a small kitchen area with stove, microwave and fridge, breakfast, bar upstairs is nice. Housekeeping was great and even washed our wine glasses one night. Definitely recommend this place! read more

I can't tell you how grateful I am for Element & every single staff member after our stay during the Feb 2021 snow storm that left so many without power, heat, water, and food. We were one of the lucky ones who got a hotel room here, and what could've been such a scary experience was so pleasant because of the staff. I know it had to be stressful for those working during that time, especially since I imagine they had to be short-staffed and short on supplies since shipments of food and supplies were limited due to the ice. However, not a single staff members showed stress or duress at any point. They were pleasant, accommodating, kind, calm - everything you would want in a flight attendant during a turbulent storm! I wish I knew everyone's names who helped us, but I know Maddi, Parker, and Jocelyn were 3 who were particularly helpful. We will be recommending Element to EVERYONE who comes to town! Each year that I attend SXSW Edu conference in Austin I always try to book my hotel almost a year before so I can secure my spot at the JW Marriott which is one of my favorite hotels in general not only in Austin. However, this year it was a little bit too pricey so my colleague and I chose the Element which is a boutique hotel adjacent to aLoft Hotel and also a Marriott affiliate. Upon arrival, I had been chatting with someone through the Marriott app who assured me I would get upgraded to a king suite on a higher level. When I got there, they had a room available for me but not the one I had in mind. They said if I wanted to wait a little bit they would call me once the one I wanted got serviced. I got in around 1 PM and I didn't get to check into my room until about 5:00 PM. It would've been fine if I knew exactly when I would be able to check in, but they kept telling me "one more half hour, one more half hour." I had no idea what to expect or when I was getting in my room. I decided to go explore Austin for a little while and have brunch with one of my girlfriends so the time passed quickly, however after a long day of travel you definitely want to get into your room. I got a message through the mobile app and a text message from Justin who is the front office manager. He apologized and came to greet me right away in the lobby. He was so kind and had the best hospitality and customer service skills. He said that my room was ready and handed me my keys. He said he would take care of my luggage, no problem. I also had four different boxes on several occasions sent up to my room which he took care of. He also gave me two, $40 coupons to the Caroline restaurant downstairs because of the inconvenience. After I had such a great encounter and I was thanked for my status, I became very happy. When I checked into my room I was even happier. My room was absolutely beautiful. I had a great view of the city, It was very spacious much like a mini apartment. I had my own kitchen with the stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. I also had my own bathroom area, bedroom area, and living room area. A TV in each room. Normally, I don't like hanging out in my hotel room too much because it always looks the same and it's kind of sad and depressing, but this was not the case. I spent a lot of time relaxing in my hotel room in my downtime and it felt like home after a while. I was on the 22nd floor so I had a king suite and it was gorgeous. The fitness center I believe is shared with the aLoft Hotel as well, so although it is a pretty decent size for a hotel, it felt very small because it was always very busy. However, they do have a good array of cardio equipment, free weights, etc. The restaurant Caroline downstairs and upstairs is really cool. They also have a quick grab and go coffee area if you're in a rush. Please see my Yelp-Caroline review. There was a moment when I accidentally dropped my AirPod charging dock and it flew out of my gym bag into the trash. I had asked the front desk if they could open it so I can get it. Moe from facilities came over and opened it right away and stuck his hand in the trash and got it for me. Like a boss. Shout out to Moe, that was so cool and you saved me $150! Thank you! Riko also helped with that as well. Overall, I felt very taken care of each day. Whenever you walk in there are waters there for you and the SXSW schedule. If I go back in town, I never thought I would find a hotel that I liked just as much is the JW Marriott, but this one is really great. There's also breakfast available each day for Elite members and the spread is pretty good. Different than your average concierge lounge for sure. This place has personality. They also offer a complimentary happy hour with wine and cheese and beer from 4 to 6pm on weekdays. I wasn't very impressed with that, but breakfast was definitely great! It's located in the downtown area so it's a pretty great location to get just about anywhere. I highly recommend this hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. read more

Not very clean! Room smelled like old pillows. The valet turned us away because "they were overwhelmed". Front said the deposit was $36 and now I have a pending charge of $100. I'm a Starwood guy and try to stay in SPG properties and use points on vacations whenever I can. There are actually two hotels in the same location. Check in for the AC is on the 3rd and the Aloft on the 2nd floor. They also have Caroline's on the 2nd floor - which is a great indoor/outdoor bar and a great Starbucks like coffee shop place to eat on the 1st floor. Also its a great location because you are close to 6th, the Capital building and a lot of other sites. Oh and as others have said the staff is friendly and helpful. This isn't the W so don't expect a W style room. Simple room with a complete kitchenette. Spacious room without carpet except for rug around the bed. We thought the room was spacious, hot water comes up quickly in the shower. My only peeve is that the elevators take a very long time. No idea why. There are like 6 of them for not a lot of rooms and floors. But that's minor. Stay was great - no complaints. read more

My first clue should of been that I wasn't able to get ahold of anyone on the phone. Second was even though I did early checkin through the app, we never received our digital room key. The location is great. There is no daily house keeping due to COVID. The only reason I will not be returning is the beds and pillows. Gouge on the parking: Nope, sorry, our experience was far from 5 star. Parking is a hot mess with the valets. ($45/day plus tips) We stayed a week and maybe got our car in 15 min one time. Usually, they didn't get the car with call and/or text ahead until we were down waiting. One time they lost our car, I.e. forgot where it was parked. Off site public parking is worse especially if you go in and out more than once a day. The price is great. Breakfast is excellent including the staff in the kitchen. If you are SPG Gold, you are still nothing special, so don't expect it. Front desk staff was OK, not great, at solving some other issues we had for our room TV. If you don't have a car yet intend to stay a week or more, Element or Aloft might work well for you. read more

So, I am a bit confused for the high remarks of this hotel. Its a 3 star hotel charging 4 star prices, the rooms were spacious and a half of a kitchen which we didn't need. The bathroom was bright, the shower had no pressure and the sink had no area to put things. The breakfast was fair at best. The gym is prestine with the basics---even ear buds (if you're like me, wanting that to be an excuse not to go to the gym!) I'm a Starwood Gold member and this place left us feeling really disappointed. Upon checkin I asked what kind of specials they had for guests. I was just informed of coffee shop that did brunch on Sunday. The next day I woke up and asked for my room to be cleaned at the front desk. While there I saw someone getting 2 free drink vouchers when checking in.(This is usually standard with the Starwood Gold membership). They also informed the guest there was free breakfast every morning and a free happy hour each afternoon. I already missed out on a night of those. Luckily I was staying at the hotel for 5 nights. After a long day of exploring Austin we came back to our room and found that it was not cleaned. I called down and asked if someone could come clean the room. I needed to put my daughter to bed in the main room and couldn't until they came. 30 minutes later and very frustrated I called down asking where the cleaning service was. They picked up and admitted to forgetting to write my room number down and that someone would be up right away. They eventually came up. This was a super frustrating experience. Upon checkout I was told I had a $370 bill. This was incorrect so I had to wait in line and after 15 minutes they apologized and said that the taxes were not paid by my credit card. I booked the entire thing through the Chase Credit card portal and the only thing I am ever liable for is incidentals. We eventually figured it out and I paid the $50 that was owed. Fast forward to 3 days when I check my bank statement, I've been charged over $1000 for my stay. I never gave them permission to hold funds like that on my card, yet alone charge this. I called them and they stated that this was a mistake and that they would refund as soon as possible. I dont understand how a prepaid hotel would end up charging my credit card for over $1000 dollars. I check a few days later and the charge is still there. I call back and the manager stated that they issued a refund and it might take up to a week to appear. Over a week later I finally received a refund for the unauthorized charge. Lots of people need their credit line for various reasons. For Element to process this unauthorized charge and take over a week to refund it is unacceptable. read more

The room is clean, roomy and has everything you'd need for an extended stay, the breakfast is sumptuous, the pm happy hour is the icing on the top. Even Quino (our grandpuppy had a great time on his own bed (provided). No on-site self parking, only valet tho there is public nxt door (half price online). Felt like a hotel catered to millennials, of which I am not. Rooms are similar to Resident's Inn...microwave and refrigerator, basic bathroom, not a lot of amenities. I found the room lacking with lighting, the entire kitchen area had no light near by. I did not sleep well at all and could not get the temperature of the room cold enough. I ordered room service, and it came in a paper bag, with my soda spilled over on its side. Food was not that hot....just eat in the restaurant, it's easier. Service was OK. We had a meeting here, and they missed on the details. No salt and pepper around, not always replenished with items in a timely manner, and temperature control was an issue. Gym is very basic and disappointing. Nice staff, but you can tell it is a new hotel. Needs to get the kinks out. read more

This hotel is a solid 3-star hotel, similar to a courtyard or Hampton Inn quality. There are minor cosmetic wear through the room/bathroom and the cleaning isn't Four Seasons quality but I had a good stay and the staff are wonderful. The Cons - If you're below floor 18 or so, you may hear street noise. It's worse if you're below 10. I was on 14 and heard the crosswalk beeping non-stop. Faint, but still. I moved to 21 and could still hear it periodically but not as often. - People rave about the cleaning here, but the first room I got had someone else's hair around the shower, and the outer part of the toilet bowl had someone else's pee. Not a lot, but still gross. - Mixup of rooms. I called housekeeping to request a cleanup time of 10:00a for my five night stay. They did it that day but no one showed up the next day. When I called, they said someone set my room as do not clean. I have no idea why as I never requested this and never used the door hanger to indicate this. So they must have mixed me up with someone else. Also, they once called me to tell me my pizza arrived, but I never ordered a pizza. I should have claimed it anyway. - Low water pressure. The shower and bathroom sink water pressure was low, but the kitchen sink was good. Neutral - Neighbor noise. It's mostly a business hotel so you won't hear a lot of families and kids. The walls aren't paper thin, but you may hear people above you moving around and pipes sounds in the bathroom. It's not terrible, but would be worse if it was a family hotel. - Room size is on the smaller size. I would recommend upgrading to a room with a sofa-bed if you want a size of a more "standard" US hotel room. - Minimal toiletries. There are mounted shampoo/condition combo in one bottle (that tends to leak) and body wash in another mounted bottle in the shower. You get a bar of soap and a mini lotion. I suggest bringing your own bathing stuff if this isn't enough. - Checkout time. You can bump it back 30 minutes but they'll charge you if more. 12:30p is the latest. Pros - Simple room decor. Kind of reminds me of a modern hospital suite. - Comfortable bed - Great appliances - full sized fridge, stove top, microwave, coffee maker. You also get a new sponge and dish detergent. - Staff. The staff really want you to have a pleasant stay. After I was annoyed of the housekeeping issues, I coincidentally ran into Parker and he was incredibly accommodating. He comped me dinner at Caroline's and moved me to a different room. He even called me the next day to check on me. - Location is great. You're a short walk from a lot of tasty places and VooDoo Donuts is right there. I got to all these recommended food places on foot in 30 min or less. Or you could just take one of the billion scooters left all over to faster commute time. - The breakfast is amazing. I only had it one day but it's free and they had fresh flavored pancakes, a yogurt bar, cereals, pastries, fruits, different juices, eggs, potatoes, and so much more. It's so high quality for a free hotel breakfast. I may try a different place next time, but I had a good enough stay and the location is perfect that I would try again. read more

Great hotel in the heart of downtown. Easily accessible to many restaurants and bars. You can also take a 15 minute walk to Whole Foods and stock up for the week since the hotel has a full service kitchen (minus the studios). The staff was friendly and attentive. The valet service was quick and responsive in the mornings. I never waited longer than 10 min, even when busy. The hotel is shared with an Aloft, so the floors are split. East facing rooms are Element with west facing rooms for aloft. So if you are looking for a specific view plan accordingly. My first week here was facing west with great views. My second week I was in a studio king and my window looked directly into an Aloft room, which was a little awkward. Element also provides a free breakfast on the 3rd floor and it is served until 9:30 which is great. It was never super busy when I was down there so there was always plenty of food to go around. read more

The best thing about this hotel is that they are very generous about giving you water bottles. It is extremely basic and cost double of what they should be charging. $300 a night (incl tax) is too much for a very basic tiny room that overlooks another building. We stayed here for 2 nights in a 1 bedroom suite. We are Starwood Platinum members who typically stay at Westins, but wanted to give Element a try and we were very pleased with our stay. Being that the hotel has only been open 3 weeks, everything is fresh and new. The vibe is hip and cool, which my husband and I liked, as well as my teenagers. The room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was included, which was a plus. The service was very attentive and requests can be made via texts messages. Valet is also a text system and was very efficient. The valet guys definitely get 2 thumbs up! We walked to 6th Street for dinner both nights we were there...just one block over. It's also convenient to UT. The consensus is that this will be our go to hotel when visiting Austin. read more

Right in the heart of Austin, a great place to stay. I stayed here on business and could walk to my meetings. Check in staff was smiley and helpful; like they really enjoyed their jobs! It's in the same building as Aloft but check in is on a different floor. Kinda odd; but kinda cool. Caroline's Restaurant is attached to the hotel and I had the Salt and Pepper Salmon with cauliflower rice. Very good! I will definitely be back again. read more

The element is combined with an Aloft in the same building, so you sort of get two hotels in one. the second floor is the Aloft front desk, and it has a great (and usually packed!) bar while the Element front desk is on the 3rd floor and is more sedate, with much of the space allocated to a breakfast area. It's only confusing for a minute or two (some floors have an Aloft 'wing' and an Element wing) but it's nice to have a little of both. We had two rooms and both came with a kitchenette area. We didn't cook there, but they had everything you'd need including full table settings. The rooms were 'cozy' and nicely appointed and the beds were very comfortable. They had en excellent blackout shade, but we would have liked to have a privacy shade that let through light during the day as well. One thing we really appreciated was that they had a LOT of electrical outlets. It's nice not having to hunt for them. On the first floor is an amazing bakery/coffee shop and a restaurant. The location is stellar, and most of where we wanted to go was either within walking distance or a short Uber ride. One thing was very consistent--the staff couldn't have been more helpful or personable. They were really great in every interaction. We'd definitely stay there again. read more

I have been to Austin a few times for business with a client. This time I decided to stay at the brand new Element. First off, location. It is just a block away from the offices I need to be at, so personally it doesn't get much easier. But for other travelers, it is also on 7th at the corner of Congress street. It is a incredibly close walk to great food and bars, such as the famous 6th street, as well as the historic Texas Capitol Building. It really felt like I was in the middle of all the action. The rooms were really great, different than a typical hotel. Clearly, Element is looking for the long term stay, since it has a full, though small, kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. I did not get a chance to check out the gym, since the MLB Playoffs had me up late on my one night stay (blame the Cubs). But the bed is comfortable and the TV is perfectly position high on the wall to enjoy from the bed. I slept great, and though it was the week of Austin City Limits, the noise between rooms was fairly minimal. The reasons it got a 4-star is the breakfast. It felt like it was lacking the very basics. It had bagels, some fruit, but no good substance. For having a good restaurant below, there was not a lot to show for the breakfast. If you choose to stay, do not be alarmed that the lobby appears to be a restaurant. Go up to the second or third floors to check in, depending if you are in the Element or Aloft (I really don't know why they do it that way). read more

So booked this hotel the day of our stay. Here for a couple hours of work, so we needed a place to stay one night and planned to go out for dinner/drinks. We chose this place only because most of the hotels were booked due to the race happening the next morning (we learned this once we got there). The room was right at $300. When we pulled up, the valet informed us that the parking garage is only 6'6, so our truck wouldn't fit. We had to park two blocks away in an open lot. They were very apologetic (this isn't stated anywhere on the website), but it wasn't super fun to lug our bags 2 blocks in the pouring rain the next morning. Also, this is a green hotel. The water flow is low, and the room air only goes down to 65 degrees. We didn't know this until we got there. It rained pretty hard the night of our stay; I put my feet down on a soaking wet rug in the morning, and there was a huge puddle on the floor by the window. Don't know where it came from. We didn't eat at the restaurant in the hotel because one of the employees told us in the elevator that it wasn't good. We got wine to go from the bar the night before, and it was, of course, overpriced, crappy wine. The room was a $130 room AT BEST. Nah to coming back. read more

I stayed at this location for one night on 1/19/2019, and one night was definitely enough. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as there are many more options available for a better price that have more to offer. The hotel references great city views, and even includes that in its room options when booking... your view of the city will be a parking garage and brick. If you enjoy hot water when taking a shower please think again because I was unable to get a drop of hot water out of the shower. The nearby parking garage that you will need to use is very small, so please make sure that you're driving your motorcycle. The breakfast in the morning was the best thing about this hotel, so please think about the size and the overall cost before jumping on this one. I recommend other options within Austin as there is much more for less. I greatly appreciate the one cent charge that I received for an unknown expense during my stay. I appreciate the experience as I know which location to avoid on my next trip. read more

I don't have a bad thing to say about this hotel except the hotel door slams heavy but I'm sure that's just fire code. Everything has been great. Free breakfast in the morning allows me hard boiled eggs, fruit, juices and coffee (including a matching that makes lattes and cappuccino). Plus they have a ton of pastries, breakfast tacos, and other items I didn't partake in. In the evening they do a free happy hour with cheese, wine and beer (tap or cans). Only parking is valet but they are very fast and have unlimited "in/out" privileges. The hotel is shared with Aloft and is connected to Caroline (which is great for not having to leave hotel for food or drink if you're here on business vs pleasure.) I honestly don't even know where to start with this amazing experience! We stayed at this hotel when we evacuated for Hurricane Harvey. To say that they were hospitable, accommodating and understanding is an understatement. First of all the hotel itself is beautiful and clean. The staff is unbelievably kind. We called to make sure we could bring our dog and cat and they said, "of course". Imagine my surprise when we arrived to two doggie bowls, a dog bed, treats and two tennis balls! Then, my boyfriend explained that he is a photographer and was hoping to take some pictures of the storm rolling in over the city. Because of this, they upgraded us to a suite on a higher floor with an amazing view of the city. The staff was so flexible with us being that we weren't sure when we would be able to return home. We felt so well taken care of and comfortable. The staff seriously catered to our every need and was super helpful. The restaurant is delicious and the outdoor bar area is super fun! I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Austin. The location is great and the experience is one of a kind. The only complaint I had is that there is no pet relief area and you have to walk around the city to try and find grass. Overall though the experience is wonderful and we will be staying here from now on when we visit Austin! read more

The complementary breakfast on the 3rd floor was AMAZING.... the staff working the breakfast were so friendly and made sure everything was stocked and clean. They really deserve a shout out! The hotel is really conveniently located to everything and you have Carolines on first and second floor, with great food and drinks!!!! This hotel is consistently meeting the bar for service, cleanliness, amenities, food, drink, location, price, etc - it has become my go-to hotel when visiting Austin and is a comfortable home away from home. Rooms are spacious with good internet, USB ports, comfortable beds, etc. Caroline is great for breakfast, lunch, or late night drinks and bites. We were lucky enough to stay at this brand new hotel in downtown Austin. We were in town a few days after it opened. We got to check in early. The decor is beautiful, modern but not cold. Our room was moderate in size. Amenities were, by Pharmacopia, great. Valet system is efficient. You text for your vehicle to come around, and they text you back when it arrives.
