I ordered the Carolina BBQ Sandwich which was smoked vegan BBQ tossed in hybrid eastern- Western style sauce (whatever that means lol), creamy coleslaw on a Brioche bun with a side Kale Caesar Salad. Mom ordered the Philly Cheese steak which was chopped seitan "steak", marinated mushrooms, house made cheese, peppers, onions served on a soft hoagie roll. "Vegan faux meat dishes near the Raleigh Convention Center" Stopped here on the Saturday of GalaxyCon in July at 5pm. There are a lot of outdoor tables with umbrellas, but we opted for the interior. The interior was a bit dark but still comfortable, especially near the windows. We got to pick our table and were given menus promptly. I went for the faux Philly cheesesteak and a side salad with Bleu cheese. My girlfriend got the western nodeo burger and a side salad with ranch. Service was good- there was a little confusion about our order and what table we were at, but they were apologetic about it. And we still got our food within 20 minutes and regularly were offered drink refills. My food was fine. The vegan Bleu cheese dressing was quite runny and tasted ok but not nearly as good as the real thing. Honestly, I felt the same about the cheesesteak. The faux meat was oddly rubbery, and the cheese was just ok. It also wasn't very large. In contrast, my girlfriend's dishes were excellent- the ranch dressing was epic and the burger was super tasty. Warning- it was hot, especially the jalapeños. But delicious. If I went back, I'd get her order for sure. This is the sister restaurant to Marian. As your vegetarian/pescetarian/vegan reviewer, this was a must try. This restaurant is listed as gastropub and that term perfectly describes the atmosphere. It has a casual, comfy vibe with a simple, but elevated quality to the food. Element is located in downtown Raleigh, near the Convention Center and has plenty of nearby paid parking garages. Our server was very pleasant. The music was at a comfortable level where it was heard, but allowed for conversation. We started with the mini Henny cinni rolls which were flaky with just enough sweet. We then ordered the chik'n and waffles and hot huny chik'n biscuit. Both dishes were delicious. The waffle was made of cornbread and did not disappoint. The biscuit was dense and moist. The chik'n was perfectly crisp and moist and just blended seamlessly with each dish. I ordered the Carolina Vegetarian BBQ sandwich without slaw with fries. Coming from TX I am trying to like NC BBQ Sauce. This one, however had a LOT of vinegar. I wonder if that's why they added the slaw? Overall, I enjoyed my meal. My mom got the Octoberfest Burger and states the sauerkraut really made the burger. Been here a few times and love it! Element has a fantastic vegan menu perfect for vegans and non-vegans to enjoy. The gastropub is located in downtown Raleigh near the convention center. While attending conventions I like to walk here for lunch. I've sat at the patio bar and indoor tables. Each visit has left me happy, satisfied, and eager to return. Plus I appreciate their Animazement specials over Memorial Day weekend. Some of our favorites include the kale caesar salad with tofu, pretzel with queso and mustard, tonkatsu sando, and peanut butter cheesecake. The vibe is welcoming and relaxing. Service is usually good. Most recently Karlesha (may be misspelled) was our server and she was amazing! We could see she was serving multiple tables inside and out. Nonetheless she was attentive and took extra time to make our visit special. Our group had various dietary allergies and preferences and were able to order anything from the menu. This fact alone made for a laid back, enjoyable experience. Only things I'm not a fan of are the croutons (too plain for my taste) and the excessive ice used in the mocktails and cocktails. My gnocchi was a wonderful blend of ingredients that balanced sweet and savory, but also included ingredients that gave it a contrasting crunch or snap texture with each bite. I feel like gnocchi especially, is a very easy dish to make the texture of the dish all soft. Service: The service was great! Visited Element Gastropub 4x in the span of 3 days and could not recommend it more! The drinks menu is spectacular. Loved the THC drinks but even the mocktails tasted so good. You can also take drinks to go and sip and stroll along Fayetteville St. For brunch, the Nojangles 3 Piece Supreme Stack was so delicious. The breakfast burrito was smaller than expected, but delicious. For dessert, the Apple Pie is a MUST GET. Overall, highly recommend for drinks or to grab a meal. Had an unpleasant experience here. We were so excited to see a plant based restaurant so close to Red Hat, and stopped in before a show. We left ample time, and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. The menu was mostly junky bar food, but they did have a few salads, which we ordered. The place seemed to be more about drinks than anything else. The doors were open so the inside was just as humid as the outside, and the way the sun was setting made every seat at our table pretty unpleasant to sit in. We sat there for about 45 minutes after ordering when I began to realize no one in the place had food. Then, a runner came out with a solitary burger and started going from table to table, only to be met with shaking heads. We finally had to leave so we didn't miss our show, after sitting there for about an HOUR! I don't think our server even noticed us leaving. Very disappointed about the whole experience. That part of downtown doesn't have many food options on a Saturday night unless you want to make reservations somewhere. read more

Element's menu is a nice balance of hearty comfort foods (Nashville hot ck sandwich) to robust salads to next level seasonal "Chef's Table" menu items like a chimichurri flank steak made with that Chunk brand that is insanely like the real thing to the umami-rich Tuscan skillet with kale, artichoke hearts and white beans in a spicy cashew cream that is not unlike your favorite spinach artichoke dip (but a lot healthier). There is a LOT to choose from and I'm barely scratching the surface. If it had been a warm day, I'd have been all over the Cobb Buffalo salad. And that brunch menu might make a believer out of me (I don't normally like to do brunch). Ambiance is sleek and modern and allows for a lot of light. Considering the outdoor seating as well, and Element seems like the perfect place to enjoy a warm spring day. The service on this Saturday I went was good. The ambiance was super chill and quiet at this time. It was about 1:30 pm so not too busy downtown that day. There's plenty of outdoor seating which is nice and as I was there, I noticed they do allow pets in that area too. I found a seat at the spacious, clean bar and ordered a beer and food to go. The service was great. Attentive but not overbearing. The Bill and Ted's lager was tasty as well. My takeout order was pretty quick and I brought it back to my room. I ordered wings (6 spicy jalapeno) which was kind of disappointing. Small sized, and I didn't get much spice from the wings. I'm not a fan of the texture either. Minus a star there. I've certainly had/made better plant based wings. I also got kale salad which was small but fresh and tasty. Know that if you are coming here for Sunday brunch, it will be loud and there is a DJ in the back. We were not expecting this and the service was okay. We were put at a high bar top by the bathrooms and were a little put off when there were plenty of open tables that we could have sat at. The staff was okay, we ran out of water a few times during the meal and felt we were forced to pay when we still had food on our plates. The server came to check on us a few times at the beginning when we were ordering, but I think didn't really care when we were not drinking. The food is all bar food, the nachos were expansive for the price and I really enjoyed my Cesar salad. The side portion was really big for the price. Stopped in to Element for the first time for Sunday Brunch. I was recommended this place because it was vegan. I enjoyed the fact they had a DJ present from 1 - 3 PM to help curate a Sunday fun day vibe. The music wasn't too loud but was a good mix of R&B and 90'/ classics. I had the brunch burger and it was amazing!! Top 3 vegan burger alongside Trill Burger's Vegan OG and Slutty Vegan. The house potatoes were delicious and seasoned well. My sweet tooth drove me to order the vegan chocolate chip cookie (not pictured) and Henny Cinni Rolls and they didn't disappoint, but I did have to ask for extra icing for the Cinni rolls. So this carnivore surprisingly loved this plant-based spot! I was in town for a convention and stayed at the Marriott City Center. I looked out my window and saw this spot so of course I checked it out on Yelp. I have been on a journey to eating healthier and when I learned that everything here was plant-based, I said "why not". And boy and I glad I did! I had a half order of nachos. Sam was gracious enough to put the pico on the side in case it was too spicy. Those nachos were so tasty. I think the thin, flavorful chips added such a nice touch. I will admit... I was really worried that the consistency of everything being plant-based would weird me out. But, there wasn't much difference between it and the pork version. For my entree I had the BBQ sandwich and infamous fries and I had read about on Yelp. They did NOT disappoint. I did eat the sandwich with a knife and fork because the bun was so soft that it was no match for the amount of BBQ on the sandwich. My husband and I find vegan and plant-based restaurants whenever we travel, and we've now been to Element Gastropub twice and prioritize it when we go to Raleigh. The food is incredible. My husband is not vegan, and also would say this is one of the best restaurants he's ever been to. First time here, stopped in for lunch while we were at the convention center for the firefighter conference this weekend. Spouse was a little uncertain about the plant based menu, but was willing to try. So I had the chicken wrap and they had the burger. Granted, none offers exactly what Element does, but unless you are specifically seeking vegan fare, it may not top your list. Should you forgo the patio, Element offers an interior that suits its concept well: green trim (for the plant-based menu) and a "beer"iodic table graphic that add to a casual (read: seat yourself), comfortable atmosphere. There's also a wall of taps, which looks impressive but may not include every draft advertised (it took my wife three beer requests to find one they weren't out of). Element's menu is classic pub fare - apps, salads, burgers, and sandwiches - though the specials may get a bit more adventurous. My wife and I opted for a Carolina BBQ sandwich and a Nashville Hot Chickn sandwich, respectively, both with fries as our side. As other reviewers noted, the kitchen here is a bit slow. The wait for our food wasn't ridiculous, but it was long enough to be noticeable. The fries, however, were worth it. Element does them in a malt vinegar powder, and they came out perfectly crisp and addictively good. Ask for a side of ranch, and you'll get a delicious, herby (mmm...dill) homemade concoction. The BBQ sandwich will raise the hackles of smoke-seeking purists, but it was perfectly tasty in its own right. In lieu of a Nashville Hot sandwich, however, I ended up with a plain crispy chickn: no pickles, no sauce, no heat. The texture - faux meat is often hit-or-miss - was fine, but flavor was lacking. Our apologetic server offered a replacement, but having already taken a bite to confirm I wasn't hallucinating, I opted to simply apply some Texas Pete. Element's atmosphere and location score points in its favor, and as a meat-eater, I didn't find myself missing the real thing eating here. The bbq nachos had some flaws - the chips disintegrated about halfway through and it seemed like there really wasn't any cheese. The bbq pieces were also too big to really fit on a chip so was hard to get a good bite with everything. I had the chicken and waffles and the fried chicken was pretty great! It was much spicier than I anticipated but that is because I wasn't expecting it to be spicy at all. Maybe that's on me for not reading the description closely enough. I was not impressed with the Customer Service as I got a snarky response when I called to see if they were open. I ended up ordering the chicken sandwich as that was recommended and a "chicken" pot pie to go as I knew it was going to take a while if I ordered it later.
