I was hoping to have a great experience here, but was sorely disappointed. The decor and ambience are lovely (though it's very noisy), the bar service was great, and our server was very friendly. Unfortunately, the kitchen really fell down. There was a party of 10 near us that seemed to get all of the attention of the kitchen. The restaurant was already out of one entree when we sat down at 7:30, then they ran out of the entree I had ordered, so I had to switch to the Steak Diane, which I really didn't want but the entree list was so minimal that I felt it was the only decent choice left. We were a party of 4; my husband and I got our starters at the same time, maybe about 15-20 minutes after we ordered. The other couple who was with us didn't get theirs until about 15 minutes later, with minor apologies. Once those were cleared, we waited over 30 minutes for our entrees, and when they finally showed up, my steak was severely undercooked. At that point, given how late it had become (past 9 pm), I didn't bother sending it back. I don't mind unhurried service, but this was beyond slow. read more

This is such a lovely spot! Love the decor and the ambiance here - perfect for a date night and had a lovely waitress. For starters, we got the nc bigeye tuna and the vert salad. The vert salad is the classic Julia Child's dressing that is bright and zesty and such a light start to the meal - can easily share with 3-4 people. The NC bigeye tuna was fine, the taste was somewhat muted, but I thought it was interesting that the rice actually tasted like a hashbrown! For the main, I got the steak Diane and wow. This contends with some of the best filet I've had. Perfectly cooked and that sauce to pair it with is to die for. Finally to finish, I got the chocolate soufflé which came paired with caramel ice cream and I probably could've eaten 4 more. East End Bistrot is an upscale, classic French restaurant in the Five Points area, and was named Raleigh Magazine's 2024 restaurant of the year! So of course this was my first choice for a 1 year wedding anniversary dinner. The front of the restaurant is filled with beautiful plants and lovely French music playing. We sat on the porch so that we could enjoy the greenery, music, and nice weather. Our waitress knew the menu so well and had great recommendations! We started out with the salade grecque (greek salad) with feta imported from Greece! The salad was served to us tableside and was the perfect, refreshing start to our meal. The feta was so incredibly creamy and the oregano was pungent and herbaceous. I opted for the 9oz filet mignon with beurre noisette and my husband got the cotelette de porc (pork chop). The filet mignon was cooked to the perfect medium rare. The beurre noisette (brown butter sauce) was nice, but not incredibly flavorful, so J could have done without it - which was fine because the filet mignon flavor was nice on its own. The pork chop was cooked to medium perfection and was nice and juicy. A bite of the pork chop with caramelized apple, mustard seed, and crisp garlic had my palate singing - you get the sweet notes from the apple, the pop and acidity from the mustard seeds, and the crunch and savory, umami flavor from the garlic crisp. As a side to our meat entrees, we got the champignon du bois (wood mushrooms). These were sautéed to perfection as they kept their structure and bounce, and I loved how they were not too heavy - the acidity from the Jerez vinegar was lovely. Phenomenal service and good food. I preferred the hors d'oeuvres and apps over the actual main entrees. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and attentive. He never left us wanting. He had great cocktail suggestions and awesome appetizer suggestions too. We started with the hamachi appetizer which was so fresh and yummy and also had the boulettes de veau which are basically very delicious meatballs. Unfortunately, my filet mignon was a little over cooked so I couldn't give the place 5 stars. I like my steak medium rare and it came out a little more like medium to medium well. I had the absolutely most amazing dinner experience at East End. The restaurant is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Raleigh. The decor is so luxurious and vibrant, you feel like you have been transitioned immediately to a french city. The service was impeccable, everyone was attentive but not overbearing. The server took his time in breaking down Every aspect of the menu and helped me to make the best possible choices for myself to have an overall amazing dinner experience. It was very evident that each customer was everyone's priority, my water was never empty, and every single member of the staff checked in on each diner throughout their experience. The restaurant also has an open kitchen concept, and I was able to watch all of the dishes being prepared, which was just a fantastic experience. I dined on the oysters, The crab soufflé, that's turbot fillet, and the guava cheesecake. Some of the best food I've had in an longtime. The oysters were extremely fresh, the table side service for the crab soufflé was beautiful and it was so decadent and rich and full of crab! The cheesecake was delicious, not too sweet and so refreshing with the guava. It was the perfect end to my meal. I also had the Mona Lisa smile as a drink and it was a great drink to start my meal, very refreshing and balanced. This is a must try restaurant! I had a wonderful dinner at East End Bistrot. First off the decor is fire, I love how much thought Giorgio Group puts into all their restaurants. They have a great patio setup as well as the weather warms up. They have a great cocktail and wine list. I started off with the sparkling rose. I did order two glasses of it. The first glass was from an open bottle that was way flatter than the second glass I ordered. It was still quite tasty though! For apps my friend and I shared the crab souffle. So tasty! Loved pouring the hot butter right through the tasty souffle. We also got the asparagus salad that was a refreshing spring dish. We then shared the delmonico with the roasted jewel potatoes. The delmonico (rib eye with more fat than their other rib eye option) was delicious and cooked perfectly. The kitchen sent us this amazing goat cheese and strawberry bite after dinner and we also got the guava cheesecake. The perfect sweet endings to the meal. Our server was Cal and he was great. It was a really lovely evening. It's expensive, but that's the whole vibe the entire space is going for. I'll be back! read more

We spent New Year's Eve at East End Bistrot and it was such a pleasant evening. The server we had was extremely knowledgeable about every menu item and gave us great recommendations. Scott the GM and sommelier was helpful in regards to all wine pairings and very familiar with various regions. Whoever designed the restaurant did an amazing job, classic yet eclectic, I felt like I was in an upscale NYC dining establishment. Kudos to the chef, because I think this was the best meal I had all year and definitely the best meal I've had in Raleigh. The oysters were fresh, the flavors on the toro were excellent, the duck was cooked perfectly to the point that I used a butter knife to cut it and the lobster was delicious. I never order lobster because I am usually disappointed with the consistency or find it's just smothered in butter but chef did a great job not overpowering the lobster and enhancing the natural flavors. Patty, the pastry chef, also did an amazing job with all three desserts we tasted. I would mark this as a special occasion restaurant and I will definitely be back. read more

We have tried almost all the best spots in Raleigh so I was expecting him to take me to a boring spot In Raleigh. When we pulled up to east end bistrot, I was joking around with him saying I was way too overdressed for somewhere that looked like a box yard. But wow. East end bistrot was shockingly beautiful. The atmosphere, food, service, and drinks delivered in its fullest. Be prepared, the courses take a while to get to your table because everything is made from scratch. If you show up starving, you might eat two baskets of bread while your waiting for your first course (like me). Overall, this is a place I would highly recommend. The vibe (albeit extremely loud) and service was great, but the food was lackluster. Holy crap the prices are insane. Look, I don't mind paying for food, especially when it's amazing it's worth it. But listen, serving a bouillabaisse in a French onion soup bowl, omitting half the ingredients, and charging almost $50 for it is beaucoup crazy. Salmon was the least expensive entree at $45. Everything lacked acid and seasoning, generally bland. They were also out of several items on the menu. $60 for a fillet of turbot anyone? Highlight was the cheesecake and the cocktails. When I go out to very nice restaurants I expect an exceptional experience and East End Bistrot fell short in a few too many ways. My table ordered two filets, the restaurant forgot one of them. The kitchen rushed to cook another one by butterflying it so it would cook faster. So we ordered two of the same steak and got two dishes that looked completely different, and one was overcooked. A bunch of other small things added some friction to the dinner and made it less than enjoyable. Then everybody in my group got parking tickets, even after validating parking. So that put a damper on the evening. read more

In town for business and we weren't sure where to go for dinner but as we headed near downtown our premier Uber driver Jess recommended East End! My coworker and I got cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and dinner it was absolutely delicious! Such a great recommendation for out-of-towners. The hamachi sashimi and was so fresh! We had a fantastic experience at East End Bistrot! Everything from the food and service was exceptional. We shared the Crispy Lamb Dumpings which were fantastic. It was an upscale take on Chinese dumplings. Then we got a lamb entree and the Chilean Sea Bass with a side of potatoes. The Sea Bass was hands down the best Sea Bass we've ever had. The citrus curry sauce was outstanding! Highly recommend trying this dish. The lamb was cooked perfectly. While very good, the Sea Bass was the star. We had two different desserts and cappuccinos with a side of bourbon liqueur. We also had a bottle of wine. Our bill prior to tip was $323. Our normal bill when we go to Ruth's Chris or formerly Saint Jacques, is usually around $500. I would definitely put East End Bistrot above our go to restaurants for special meals both in terms of food and service. The food was really outstanding. The service was phenomenal. From our server, Walter, to the sommelier, Greg - The experience was top-notch. We are very much looking forward to returning and having another exceptional meal. We are already making plans to bring our kids and we would like to introduce the restaurant to some of our foodie friends. It was a great experience we definitely want to share with others. The menu was carefully and thoughtfully chosen, providing plenty of variety. The dishes themselves were all prepared with care and to perfection. I had a birthday dinner here with friends. The food was good for the most part, ambience great, and they let you bring up to 3 bottles of wine which was perfect for a dinner party. There is an $15 per person...not per bottle opening fee which they failed to tell me about after telling me I could bring the bottles. If you opened 3 bottles it should be per bottle. The major issue I had was how they butchered the birthday cake I paid $150 for. I'll post pics of the before and after below. First of all they charged $5 per slice for a cutting fee to cut my cake. Because of that I am fully expecting they would actually know how to cut a birthday cake. Well obviously they did not. I had a two layer cake with strawberry filling inside. Why in the world would you only cut the top layer off the entire cake and ruin it!? A slice of cake is a full slice! Not just the top layer! Now all that's left is the mouse filling and the bottom layer of the cake. I didn't even realize until I had to ask for the left over cake before leaving because they never brought it back to the table after cutting it. Now I see why! I am LIVID! I can't even offer anyone else a piece because they have completely ruined it! Who doesn't know how to cut a slice of cake!? I could've cut it myself had I know they were going to butcher it! So now I basically have a half of cake with no top layer because somebody didn't know how to slice a piece of cake and had the nerve to charge each one of my guest $5 for this mess. I can't even express how mad I was once I got a look at what they did. * Took this down to a 1 since nobody bothered to even reach out and apologize. read more

The dumplings were very good and I'd highly recommend. The carpaccio was bland and tasted like nothing but olive oil. Good olive oil, but just blah. Escarole salad was alright. I could certainly make it at home. The guava cheesecake was great - super smooth and the perfect amount of sweetness. Overall, extremely overpriced. A strange place to put an expensive French restaurant. I work nearby. Very expensive including very expensive coravin wine. They let you taste your wine first even when ordering a single glass of wine. There was some miscommunication about what a HALF glass or FULL glass was. I thought I was getting a half glass but they said no that's a full glass! So be careful. I paid for a $50 glass of wine that was good not great. Food was good but my smoked salmon came out on two large pieces of toast. My red snapper was a bit chewy but my friend says that's how it is. Service was very good.
