    Roasted Turkey French Dip
    Jessica R.

I was so excited to come here to try the French toast, however, this was our first time out with our 6 month old, so we got there a little after 11am, which is when they stop serving their brunch menu. I didn't realize they had a separate breakfast, lunch and dinner menu (I guess they use brunch and breakfast interchangeably) so definitely something to note if you have your eye on a specific dish. We started with the pull apart bread which was reminiscent of the old school cafeteria rolls I had in elementary school (a great comparison) and were delicious - wonderful crunch on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. It came with chive butter, then the host gave us the honey butter. Both were good, I just preferred the chive. I had the roasted turkey French dip which was good, just not memorable. My husband liked his shrimp and grits, said it was rich, but tasty. I absolutely loved the decor and vibe of this place, I would go back for the vibes alone! The staff was really nice too. There's a bakery in the front, I think was closed since it was lunch time, but I would definitely return to Birdies!

Omg I fell in loooovvvvee with their Birdie flatbread. Hands down one of the best flatbread dishes I have ever had in my life!!! Service was just okay, the woman server was nice, the male bartender seemed a bit indifferent, and didn't clear the dirty dishes next to me the entire time I was there. The Lavender 75 cocktail was just okay; the bartender went too heavy-handed with the lavender. It's one of the reasons I'm hesitant to order floral cocktails, because it's easy to overdo it. Anywhooo, I will be back for that amazing Birdie flatbread!!

We had dinner on a beautiful Sunday evening at Birdie's Barroom and Kitchen and we are so glad that we did! Rudolph was our amazing server. Birdie's is beautiful inside and outside. They have plenty of seating in the dining room and on the outside patio. There's also a green space with corn hole and swinging benches. It's a family friendly restaurant with romantic vibes as well inside. We started with cocktails and starters of Crispy Brussels and the Kale Cesar Salad (we added Salmon). The cocktails were made perfectly and so refreshing! The Kale Cesar was absolutely delicious, the salmon added on top was perfect! While enjoying every bite of our starters, we ordered our entrees. I had the Proper Burger, medium w/ a side of fries and the lemon aioli. I enjoyed every single bite of my meal. My daughter ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tacos which came with side of fries. The tacos were just okay. Overall we loved Birdie's from start to finish and will definitely be back. From the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we paid our bill, everything was great.

This is a sun-drenched hideaway where the city seems to exhale. This downtown bar and restaurant feels less like a room and more like a warm afternoon--light spills through oversized windows, stretching across honeyed wood floors and catching on glints of brass and gold like little sparks of celebration. The patio blurs the boundary between inside and out, inviting breezes, laughter, and the occasional curious passerby to join the scene. Inside, it's a playful clash of textures and tones--lush greenery tumbling from shelves, vibrant colors dancing against natural wood, and polished metals winking from every corner. It's the kind of place where a cocktail feels brighter, conversations linger longer, and even the sunlight seems to stay for just one more round. From the moment you step in, the welcome feels less like service and more like being let in on a good secret. The staff greet you with easy smiles and a kind of genuine curiosity--like they're actually glad you chose this spot, today. There's no script, no stiffness--just a natural warmth that settles in as quickly as the sunlight. Behind the bar, the bartenders move with quiet confidence and a touch of showmanship. They know their craft, but they don't flaunt it--they share it. Ask for a classic, and it arrives perfectly balanced; ask for something new, and they'll read your mood like a seasoned mind-reader. The deviled eggs arrive perfectly plump, sunshine-yellow centers whipped into a silky, indulgent cloud and topped generously with the red peppers that bring just the right whisper of fresh garden drama, they're rich without being heavy, playful without trying too hard--the kind of bite that makes you pause mid-conversation, raise an eyebrow, and make you want to slowly work through the next one. They only come in odd numbers, sharing isn't caring on these. The BBQ hot honey pork ribs show up like they own the place--sticky, glistening, and just a little bit dangerous. The meat barely clings to the bone, surrendering at the slightest nudge, impossibly tender yet somehow still juicy, with those caramelized, crispy edges that feel like the best kind of rebellion. Sweet heat from the honey lingers just long enough to keep you coming back, fingers unapologetically messy and completely worth it. And then there's the mac & cheese--rich, velvety, and indulgent in a way that feels almost mischievous. Each spoonful stretches and melts like it's putting on a show, wrapping you in buttery comfort while quietly stealing the spotlight. Together, it's a plate that doesn't ask for your attention--it demands it, and you'll be more than happy to oblige. Cheers!

I recently had brunch at Birdie's Barroom and Kitchen. It is located in Downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street, so your parking options include street spaces and nearby lots or garages. The restaurant has a small cafe to your left as you enter for coffee and pastries. But the main restaurant is straight ahead, and you can dine inside or outside on the covered patio. There was a bar as well. I was asked where I wanted to sit, and then whether I wanted a low top or a high top. I even got to select my own table when we got to the dining area. The decor is very modern and contemporary, from the brass bar to the floor-to-ceiling windows to the marble flooring. But the atmosphere was welcoming and casual. It is a very busy place, so I highly recommend making reservations. My waitress was very friendly and gave me time to look over the menu. I started with a blackberry mojito. Then went with the classic Bennie and swapped the herb potatoes for fries. I enjoyed their version of the eggs Benedict and was happy with the runny yolks in the poached eggs. The fries were cold, though, so I am assuming they sat out while the Benedict was finishing preparation, or the dish sat in the kitchen before being brought out. I wouldn't order the fries again. I did get the Brookie for dessert, which was part chocolate chip cookie and brownie. It came out in a good-sized skillet, so the portion was large, I'd say enough for 4 people. So I took most of it to go and ate a bite here and there for a while. The restrooms could use more attention to cleaning and making sure they are stocked with toilet paper and such. The small details matter.

We came here on a Saturday right after seeing the Walk for Peace Monks at the capital. We started with the beef sliders. The beef sliders were really good and tasty. They were cooked to perfection and the caramelized onion jam added a sweet element to the savory burger. There are some things salt and pepper can't fix and the chicken penne pasta is one of them. The grilled chicken was great but the pasta sauce and the penne pasta wasn't seasoned. There was nothing special about the Alfredo sauce. It was bland, and tasteless. I think I could've gotten a jar of Ragú or Prego from Harris Teeter and that might've had more flavor. The salmon was cooked well. The quinoa was not seasoned, so it made the dish subpar as well, given that the quinoa is 2/3 of the dish.

Good food, drinks, and service. The apps were my favorite. The crispy Brussels sprouts and pull apart bread were so good. My white sangria and Thai peanut grilled chicken salad were just ok. The salad was huge portion though and I had enough leftovers for another meal. Next time I'd go for the grilled cheese & soup - my friend had that and it looked ridiculously cheesy and amazing!

I celebrated with someone for a birthday here. Dinner was amazing. Every single plate hit the spot. I especially loved the salmon, Brussel sprouts and deviled eggs. The cocktails were nicely made as well. Staff were attentive, polite and timely. Overall, the ambiance was hip and lively. It was a perfect Friday night dinner. The strawberry cake was the cherry on top. I'd go again.

My husband and I were looking for a local place to spend our $100 credit through American Express Platinum's perks in using a Resy reservation. We loved this place located in the middle of downtown Raleigh! We arrived for a 5pm reservation on a weeknight. There's a large parking structure conveniently located directly across the street with parking validation provided by the restaurant! Not having to drive around looking for street parking is a huge plus! For appetizers, we ordered the deviled eggs, the pull-apart bread, and the Brussel sprouts. We decided that we could just have appetizers as our main meal. They were fantastic! I ordered the Roasted Turkey French Dip - OMG it was sooo good! The bread is soft, the melt-in-your-mouth turkey and the slightly sweet and tangy cranberry is something I will go back for! The French fries are amazing, too. I could only eat half my sandwich because I had filled up on appetizers! My husband ordered the Buttermilk-Brined Crispy Chicken sandwich. He said it was incredible. We each had a bite of each other's order and swore that ours was better! Haha! We also shared a bowl of the tomato soup because so many ppl raved about it. It definitely lived up to our high expectations! It has a swirl of pesto sauce in it that adds a great pop of unexpected flavor. The brunch menu looks spectacular. We will definitely be back! At least on Saturdays, I recommend making reservations a few days ahead. Otherwise, the bar is first come, first serve. The wait staff was incredibly friendly. I had been really wanting to try the biscuits and when they came out they looked delicious but were undercooked. It took a few mins to get our servers attention and she was actually coming to us to inquire because the chef was displeased with how they looked in the kitchen. They brought us fresh ones and took the charge off the bill. The jam and sausage gravy that came with them were delicious. I did enjoy my breakfast sandwich but it was a lot of bread with the thick cut.

Came here for lunch with a friend. Seemed like there may have been some issues with service as we walked into a long line to even get to the hostess stand. Overall solid meal, although our food did take a while to come out. The pull apart bread and deviled eggs were great to start and ordered a salad as my main which was average at best.

2 Appetizers 4 Drinks 2 Entrees plus an add on 1Dessert Loved the vibe and ambiance. Service was good. There were a few mistakes such as bacon came on our deviled eggs after we asked for no pork, then the server dropped one of the eggs on the table when sitting the plate down. Those mistakes were rectified. My beef stroganoff was good. Hubby has a salmon salad that was very fresh. I ordered a dessert to go because I was too full. I will say that the appetizers and drinks were the star of the show that I would return for.

The place was crowded but there was no wait. I got seated immediately at a table near a column in the middle of the restaurant and Christy came over and asked if I wanted anything to drink. She brought me iced water and gave me time to look at the menu. I wanted to try so many things and I was too optimistic about ordering 3 things and finishing them myself. Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.
